its been a year, are u ok
tamsyn is my aunt and oh my goddd like seeing the scale that fandom has gone too is amazing like its still hard to comprehend that my aunt just pops up in book recs like this its like YES YES YESSSS QUEER REP
That's so cool! Surprise, your aunt has a cult 😂
You look like Chappell roan 😍
I like Bitterthorn. A woman offers herself to a witch. it's gothic and emotional and it made me cry
Such a great video!! I’ve been meaning to read some sapphic books lately and you gave such good recommendations!! Love ya girl 😊
Two recently read sapphic books I loved:
If Tomorrow Doesn't Come by Jen St. Jude: The main character Avery stops herself from ending her life after she finds out from her best friend (and crush) that a metroit is on its way to earth and will probably end the world. So Avery uses these last day to reunite with her best friend, spend time with her family and maybe learn to save herself.
Plain Bad Heroines by Emily M. Danforth: This is a horror book full of sapphic characters told in two timelines all surrounding a supposed curse at the Brookhants School of Girls. In 1902 we learn what happened for this school to be believed cursed and in 2020 we follow three sapphic character characters as they work on a film based on those events. But because it is set in what is left of Brookhants, maybe they will get confronted with this curse themself.
The second one reminds me of Fear Street. Huh, seems promising.
This made my morning to see your upload!
Your personality is just so beautiful. 🖤
As a lesbian, I give full permission to make Janis Ian references
As someone that identified as Butch and is now pan (again) and is a sapphic Urban Fantasy writer, I get everything you’re saying. I have bi or pan characters and I have lesbian characters. I have one Butch that’s actually a Butch!
She’s super masculine in her style and her stage presence takes up the whole room. She’s a hardened character and pushes people away because of her own trauma. She doesn’t wear dresses at important events. She’s Butch through and through and I love having the word on the page!
My MC (Dom) is struggling with her sexuality and has two love interests. One male Twin Flame (Leo) and the Butch soulmate (Erin), or as my beta readers call it - a soulhate. It’s giving enemies to friends to lovers and is a slowwwwww burn!
I know there’s annoyance with having a female and a male love interest for a bi character, but my take on my particular pairings are that Dom is able to start her healing journey with Leo because he’s gentle and soothing with her and she’s able to work on rewriting her mindset/go through a Dark Night of the Soul/Ego Death.
And with Erin who’s more hardened and distant at first, Dom finds her strength and confidence and ability to be authentically who she is. She leaned how’s to stand up for herself and fight back.
With the femme sapphics in my book, Dom hides under the sham that she just “wants to be closer friends” or “likes their style”. BUT Erin is a mirror for Dom, she can’t hide her attraction to Erin and has to face the trauma she’s repressed of a previous failed relationship that ended in death that she’s blacked out. And unlike with the femme sapphics, Dom likes Erin for who she is and NOT because she reminds the MC of said failed relationship.
Another distinction I highlight is that the Leo wants to protect Dom because of his own trauma and doesn’t want her to get hurt due to the nature of their supernatural lives while Erin pushes Dom to be stronger and to go into action and fight her demons when she’s able to use her Elemental powers and has a handle on her fighting skills.
I'm currently I'll right now and when you said Delilah Green first I felt so much better just for a second ❤
The way The Locked Tomb series consumed me entirely for the last few months!!!! I allowed myself to be cringey and fall into fandom again and JOD DAMN was it a blast 💀
Hey, I need to read more Sapphic books, so I need to check some of them out. A novella I read recently and adored is Even Though I Knew the End by C.L. Polk. It's got angels vs demons, fantasy witches, and a soulless witch PI who wants to spend her future with the woman she loves. It's a quick fun read that felt like a roller coaster ride of fantasy, action, and romance.
Amazing pitch! 🙌
you’re beautiful and i love your energy 💓
I (unfortunately) haven't read a lot of sapphic books yet, but I thought Princess Princess Ever After was really cute. Kay O'Neill's books are always so wholesome ❤️
hey, what do you think? should I read a day of fallen night or the priory of the orange tree first??
Apologies in advance for butchering these book titles, but do you recommend reading a day of fallen night before priority of the orange tree? Or should I read the prequel after the first book?
You can read either! I'm biased because I read them Priory first, then Night, but I bet you would have a cool reading experience with Night first!
I bought the night and its moon and severely regretted it so now I'm trying to recover
7:17 Eh. It's just a _Faction Paradox_ novel that went rogue. Which is totally on brand for _Faction Paradox._
all of Sarah Water’s novels
GIDEONNNNN!!!!
Agree to disagree about the romance plot in Gideon the ninth, I guess
🎉🎉🎉
Hello! I am new here. I will put all of these on my tbr. Have you read A Dowry of Blood and Sister Maiden Monster? I would recommend them both. Happy belated pride month. Have a nice day/night!🏳️🌈
can i read a day of fallen night before the priory??
I would HIGHLY reccomend reading Priory first as ADOFN spoils all the plot twists in the book within the first 100 pages!
get out! those earrings are stunning!
Asking for a friend Rachel is 50 to old to come out?
Of course not! Your friend took the time they needed and are very brave in making the decision to come out now!
Girls, gays, theys. 😂 I love it
If lesbian literature gets me back into reading I’ll consider this a win for my trans “lesbian???” heart
I didnt realize sapphic included my non binary butt thank you 🥹
🖤💖🖤💖😈💖🖤
We are our own sex class and deserve to be categorized as something other than "non-men".
'Our own sex class' excludes queer trans women, intersexual folks and amab nonbinaries. It's okay if you don't personally see yourself in that definition, but please remember that a small change in wording can go a long way into making people feel like they have a queer space where they belong :)
