- It's that movie, with that ending. Round and round they go, where time stops, no one will ever know.
More to the point, its the whole movie, sort of, several times over, in under 3 minutes. Marvelous.
Ah good old Ib Melchior, just how did you come up with these wacky pieces of celluloid. And look, a lesson for modern Hollywood, scientists should always wear lab coats. - Krátké a kreslené filmy
I watched this movie when i was 10yrs old and i loved it. It's the most futuristic and mind bending sci-fi movie ever!
One of the best sci-fi B movies ever made! No endless CGI explosions, mindless violence, needless gore, or gratuitous sex. Just a solid story, interesting characters, and competent acting and directing.
and "necessary sex" :-).
@@oriraykai3610 but the small dose of semi-nudity in the futuristic bath house was rather nice...
agreed
Well, gratuitous sex is not a red line for me. But the other stuff...
but tight pants on girls
Saw this movie on tv late 60s early 70s & looked all over CZcams for it. Its coming on Spingollie this Saturday nite!! Gonna watch it on tv. It just fell into my lap. Lucky huh!!
I came over wanting to see what kind of sci-fi movie this is cuz it's gonna be on Svengoolie.
The musical score in the
finale is priceless! 😎
I recall seeing this back in the day...maybe as I was 10 or 11. The end premise sort of blew my little young mind. Really nice to see this old reel again. Sort of cheesey ...but innocent and fun...liked the dramatic core....Thanks
The music video for “Carl finlow - anomaly”, brought me here
This was one of my favorites when I was a child in the 60s. I'm sure I first saw it on late night TV when stations routinely showed a Creature Feature on Saturday night.
And look closely at 2:05 and pause it, there’s the Doheny Memorial Library at USC.
That is probably the most scary and creepy ending I ever seen.
Looks like they accidentally broke time with their machine, and now the whole universe is stuck in a loop, right?
Bummer.
You break it, you bought it.
One of the best of the old Sci-Fi movies. Great story! Had to buy on Amazon.

I loved it as a kid
Well that's the fastest way to watch a full movie.
+zimjun7
Yeah the late 5 minutes is *_literally_* the whole movie again
Ya...sort of like when i took speed reading in high school...Which comes in handy for this speed watching type of movie..lol
I was thinking "Cliff Notes: The Time Travelers"
I just watched it at 2x playback speed🤣🤣.
Well, you can see most of it on episode 200 of _Mystery Science Theater 3000._ Not all, but most.
I saw it when it first came out and loved it. I've been looking for it for a long time and can't find it complete! There are two other movies that sort of copy it, but aren't as good, this one is worth having. One day maybe they'll re-release it and I can see the whole thng again!
I saw it in a theater in 1964 when it debuted. Loved it then.... love it now. It's delightful. Delores Wells is a delight too. The story is so much better than any of the schlock S/F that hollywood keeps dumping out.
They escape to the future.
It's funny you should word it that way. When I first saw this on TV as a kid back in the 60s, I remember thinking: "This is delightful."
Ive always remembered the ending to this film. Not so much the rest of the story but the ending stayed with me since seeing it as a kid more than 30 odd years ago. Took me a while to track it down but would like to see it again in its entirety out of curiosity. Another one I saw last week was Battle Beneath The Earth. Remembered that from childhood and surprised it was actually a British film. It was lame but I liked it when I was a nipper.
So they created a time loop. THE WHOLE TIME.
An excellent recapitulation of the film. I felt sorry that an android didn't go with them. And Reena (Reese's girl in the future) was played by Delores Welles, a.k.a. Miss June 1960. Now THAT'S a blast from the past!
Oh, for Wells' Sake!
When I saw this in the theater when it came out, at the end, they made a loop back, walked into a dark portal, because they had no real choice, and the dark portal cleared to show a green meadowland. The implication they were either past the devastated Earth, or way, way before it. (Adams and Eves?) After that was the infinitely-repeating loop.
That happens here, too.
The technician made a mistake, rolling the time selector back and forth like that. It's all about precision when manipulating time. Move the selector once, and if it's the incorrect time period that you're searching for, shut the system down, reboot, restart and move the time selector accordingly. They were in a rush for results to substantiate another grant from a philanthropist. You lie about positive results to get additional funding. Every research scientist knows that.
Been looking for this B-Movie Classic SyFy, never knowing the title. So I type in the story in search bar, I it hit! Just ordered the DVD...
Always loved this movie! ❤️😃👍🏻
And you gave a seizure.
I saw this on a little B&W TV when I was eleven. It blew me away!!!! Too bad you give away the ending in the description.
I literally just speed-watched this entire movie in 3 minutes here. lol
They did succeed. A succession of them succeeded forever and ever.
Best time travel film ever!
👽🤖👾🛰️☄️🚀 I'm watching this now on Comet TV!
Pause at 2:05, there’s the Doheny Memorial Library at USC.
I saw this on TV as a kid. I thought it was pretty cool (although cheaply made). As an adult, I now realize the story is quite good! I wish it could get re-made today with better production values (but the same kind of ending).
I love this movie as a kid
love this movie
This film had the dubious honor of being in the 1st season of the Netflix revival of MST3K. 📼
Which is to say, the Netflix MST3K is not worth watching. I spit on any show that won't recognize the merit of good films.
I saw this movie countless times on TV when I was a kid in the late 60s and early 70s...loved it!
Excelente film lo vi de chico muy loca para su tiempo increíbles efectos y la historia !
as I seem to recall when I saw this in the theatre the movie had no resolution. they got trapped in a time loop and I and a lot of other people felt cheated. we were rooting for them to succeed.
They did succeed. It was alternate duplicates of themselves that kept experiencing the same events over and over in a reoccurring timeline.
@@porflepopnecker4376 I suspect that the Edenic garden/happy ending scene was added because someone thought the time loop ending would be too depressing or confusing for the audience. They used both, which was rather weird.
I don't know how I've missed this movie all these years! Quite a gem. The special effect of removing/attaching the android head was impressive for 1964. I could also see Star Trek and When Worlds Collide influences there.
If anything, Star Trek was influenced by this film, since it came out after the film was released.
6828Lu
I meant to say "influences to Star Trek", but yes, you're right.
@@6828Lu John Hoyt was in both this film and the original pilot of Star Trek ("The Cage").
This movie has aged well, a remake would be easy if it kept most of scenes while updating the computers and robots.
agreed
Wildest sf ending EVER!
I've seen this one I was very little but two times it was I was about 10 and the second time I was about 23.
Imagine time travelling into 1964
Freaking Steve, opening up the lasic cycling all the way is his answer to everything! Way to break the universe Steve!
Should have listened to Danny!
I can't believe I found this film...After 45 years!!! I saw it when I was 5 years old in Chile, and I always remember it.. I never knew the name nor the names of the actors... However, I did remember Steve Franken, not by name, but because he was the drunken waiter in the film "The Party" with Peter Sellers!! I Google his Filmography and BINGO! Thanks @theagg for posting!!!
+huaso97 yes yes The man in the blue service coveralls funny actor Steve Franken he won an Oscar movie award for that movie The Party and he was on the hit TV show Bewitched among many other guest roles. The Man Loves of Dobbie Gillis
Al Franken is Steve's second cousin...
I loved this as a kid
I REMEMBER TO HAVE SEEN THIS FILM WHEN IT WAS VERY SMALL, THAT WAS 50 YEARS AGO AT LEAST.
NEVER FORGET THE CHARACTERS.
IN THEN THEN I DID NOT UNDERSTAND THE FINAL ,,,,, IT WAS INCREDIBLE TO FIND IT COMPLETE AFTER SO MANY YEARS. IT'S GREAT
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
RECUERDO HABER VISTO ESTE FILM DE CUANDO ERA MUY PEQUEÑO, ESO FUE HACE 50 AÑOS POR LO MENOS.
NUNCA OLVIDE LOS PERSONAJES .
EN AQUEL ENTONCES NO ENTENDI EL FINAL,,,,,FUE INCREIBLE ENCONTRARLA COMPLETA DESPUES DE TANTOS AÑOS. ES GENIAL
This is a clever movie with an actual story. Imagine a race to escape the Earth and preserve humanity without CGI. What would we do as a race to survive. I would want the best of our kind to survive and continue on. It’s too amazing Hollywood revisit the past and think about movies like this.
I haven't seen this in years .. I've been looking for it but forgot the name of the movie
I remember seeing this movie years ago on television I never saw the beginning of it but it held my interest. I wonder if its on DVD?
Considering how much padding there is in the movie, it could've easily been an "Outer Limits" episode.
It looks like padding in the MST3K version, but they actually cut out a lot of good character stuff to fit their time frame. There is a lot more story in the original. I remember being fascinated by the mutant that Merry Anders saves, but in this version he disappears.
Delores Wells didn't need padding!
I know exactly what you mean! I saw this on TV when I was around 8 over forty years ago and it scared the shit out of me! My best recollection was the burning android near the end and the half-mutant threatening the woman. I had to Wiki 60s Sci Fi movies to find it again.
I also remember being very confused by the end. Great Sci Fi B-movie in it's day, quite scary for kids which I liked.
Thanks theagg, and thank you huaso97 for being a kindred soul.
sqeaston Yeah pretty much the same with me, saw it as a kid and it scared me. Probably haven't seen this movie in almost fifty years and I never forgot a few images from this movie. Want to watch it again...
+sqeaston Yessss myself as well. Saw this in a Drive in Theater and pissed my pants It both scared and disturbed me seeing the mutants and the android burning alive. and having his limbs being ripped apart. I've seen the movie several times since and enjoy the whole 1960's vibe
I agree. The burning android stuck with me too. The ending was so different in that the scientists didn't win. Far more powerful.
i saw it at my childhood to - afterwart i was searching until today i found it finally - great film !
It's weird. If the universe was stuck in a loop we wouldn't even know it.
It's already possible, or is perhaps..Because everyone, at least once in a lifetime do have a sense of ' deja vu '.lol
I am reading your comment from 9 months in the future :)
It's weird. If the universe was stuck in a loop we wouldn't even know it.
Possibly we are and yet we are not.
A great old classic sci- fi that was never released to DVD.
An above average 1960s Sc-fi film. Some interesting, if oddball scenes and ideas. Unsatisfactory ending.
The androids scared the heck out of me as a kid, glad I could see it now (making me cringe all over again - primarily the "human" eyes and passive faces).
somebody with better memory tell me... I remember the group stepping into the black screen at the end and then this time loop starting right after. in the mst3k presentation, the group steps in, and you see them safe in the year 100,000. then cut to static and The End. No time loop at all. my question is : do you see the happy scene at the end before the time loop? or was it never included? Did mst3k add the scene... or just cut the film at the scene that was already there?
They just cut the film at the scene that already there. Missed opportunity if you ask me. Could have tested the limits of the rapid fire new riffing style, maybe make some solid BSG jokes, or even sing that "the end is the beginning, the beginning is the end" song from "The Watchmen" trailer.
Thank you!
They did cut it! Huge mistake! My favorite part of the film when I was a kid!
It would have made sense to cut this scene for the actual release, IMO. It makes no sense. They only looped back once. There would have been no reason for them to loop back to the past again from the distance future. Simply having them go into a new, restored Earth with a fresh start was a nice way of settling the conflicts of the movie-the residents of the future get their new, Earth-like planet (it's just...it's still Earth) while the people from 1964 get to evade the nuclear war. There would have been no reason or way for them to come back and start another loop. I feel like the time loop thing was just added in so they could have ambiguity about the ending that really shouldn't have been there.
@@DoctorPorkenfries The film ks trying to convey the concept of a closed timeloop. The concept of a sequence of events inevitably occurring exactly as they will occurr because their conclusion begets or ties into the start of the loop. This was not a commonly portrayed concept in film at the time. Isn't common now either, really.
So in the end they travel to the year 100000 AD from 2071 AD. And found that earth is a paradise again.
At least Chernobyl won't be a problem anymore...
This video just gave me a seizure...
Great ending.
The music score is the best thing about this film, although it's concept is thrilling and the end is chilling.
"The Time Travelers" deserves to be re-made with some craft and intelligence.
It already has those things and deserves to be left alone.
i want to get on dvd i may have it
Does anyone else think that the music played in the scene where music is played with the sound organ? is very similar to the Star Trek theme music?
I remember this movie and at the end they did succeed. They went further into the future and found a better world.
I wonder if this ending inspired the ending to Kubrick's 2001 A Space Odyssey?
I know I saw George Peppard in it. But I did not find him listed as one of the actors
Another David l Hewitt production add wizard of Mars and journey to thr center of time
This is where the movie ends.....
Buck Rogers meets Fellini
Props to the editor though. That many cuts with a film splicer must have taken forever.
Where get a copy of this movie
The basic plot of this movie is identical to that of Journey to the Center of Time (1967). They even used the exact same starship rocket in the exact same valley set in that movie as in this one. Here is the other movie: czcams.com/video/J7yk-BZZ88k/video.html Compare 00:01:56 on this trailer to 00:32:24 on the other movie.
Thats because Journey to the Center of Time is effectively a remake of The Time Travelers :) Plus, you can see some of the set design for JTTCOT is ripping off Irwin Allen's Time Tunnel set design. (that TV series being the year before that film) That control room is certainly reminiscent of Project Tic Toc's main control room.
I watched Travelers full movie here twitter.com/e807528950f1f72c3/status/824452462106980352
you will find it here www.dailymotion.com/video/x1rm9xr_journey-to-the-center-of-time-1967-full-movie_shortfilms
That one is a sort of rip off of this one, it ends a little differently and there is a nasty millionaire who messes up time.
rlwieneke david l. Hewitt did both films and also the wizard of mars...all three use the same dialog
There was never any explanation for why this remnant of advanced human civilization declined to manufacture stronger weapons for self-defense. It is almost as if they deliberately chose weak firearms, most likely .25 ACP semi-auto pocket pistols, in order to minimize violence among themselves. It worked. The civilized people lived harmoniously. But they would pay the price.
If they were serious about fending off the growing, stronger and more aggressive mutants, the civilized people should have maintained an arsenal of powerful handguns chambered for: .38 Special +P; .357 Magnum; 9mm Parabellum; .40 S & W; and .45 ACP. They should have included shotguns, semi-automatic rifles, and submachineguns. All of this was available from Old World technology that must have survived the global holocaust.
Even their diligent, hard-working, reliable androids were constructed to field the strength of an ordinary human and programmed with only the most basic defensive reactions. This was no doubt a wise decision of the human designers, but the androids were thus not able to offer as much back-up fighting strength except to boost numbers. And the robots were very vulnerable to damage and destruction; not like the terminators of later sci-fi movies.
In the end it was obvious their defenses were totally inadequate. Much of the omission was the lack of people with extensive military training and experience. These were all civilian scientists and technicians. They deliberately eschewed anything of a military nature, probably out of memories of the global catastrophe. Ultimately, these advanced, civilized humans were thus living on borrowed time.
this stupid time loop? How do we all get out of
Journey to the Center of Time totally copied this far superior movie.
If I buy a welding source will I be able to build a time portal ?😮😮😮
