I just bought a bird nest fern! I noticed that one side is growing away from the center nicely. However, the other side is growing in different directions and leaves are a bit distorted? It looks healthy otherwise. Will the leaves recover or are they just going to continue growing this way?
Hi . I suspect one side of the plant is searching for light and that's why it's growing in all different directions. The distorted leaves could be a lack of nutrients. Maybe rotate the plant and give it a little bit of fertilizer? Hope that helps and thank you for your interesting question. ❤
@@PlantNationMinh I think you’re right about the nutrients and light since I noticed some new growths where the leaves were flat and very skinny. Thanks for your advice!
@@dooham1383 Your welcome, have a wonderful day! ❤
I just brought a bird's nest fern on clearance. Drenched and sitting in water. Question: Where did you find your plant stand? Thanks for the video.
Hi Thanks for sharing your plant tip. I brought my plant stand from Addairs called Boston 5 tier Shelves. It's a few years old so not sure if its still abaliable. Happy Fern Gardening ❤️
Help! I bought a large bird nest fern, The leaves started turning brown so I cut the leaves off! Now I don't have any leaves! It only has the bird nest left with no leaves! Can I bring my plant back to life? I cut of all my leaves on my Sago palm, now it has 3 nice new leaves.
Hi Jimmy
Great question. As long as the base of the plant is healthy and has enough energy to produce new leaves. If the centre base of the plant is solid and not mushy or signs of root rot it should be ok. I would just give the same care routine of keeping the soil moist, lots of bright indirect light and warm position. Its a waiting game now to see what happens Hope that helps. Good luck and l be interested on how your plant goes in time. ❤
@@PlantNationMinh Thanks, I took it out of the big pot it was in, and put it in a glass terrarium, with rocks on the bottom and moved it to a window that doesn't get direct sunlight. Should I cover the top of the terrarium with something like saran wrap to get more humidity? Maybe poke a few small holes in it?
@@jimmyjoejeeter2366 Depends on what the humidity in the area your placing the fern it. If its below 40 humidity, yes l would consider a wrap with some holes. I would just be careful with increasing the humidity too high anything above 80, can introduce fungus and root rot issues. ❤
@@PlantNationMinh I will probably remove the Saran wrap cover, once it starts to grow leaves, I just thought that might help it faster?
@@jimmyjoejeeter2366 Good idea! worth a try and see how your Fern goes ❤

How do you know if a plant has root rot ?
Hi Delia, Good question! There is a disgusting funky smell coming from soil. The roots will be mushy, Blackish or Brownish in colour instead of being white or slightly yellow in colour. Happy Fern Gardening ! ❤️
What happens if you see pests in your plant?
Hi Latia
Great question! First of all isolate the plant do it doesn't spread to other plants. Then treat the plant for pest according to what pest it is. Eg Mealy bugs can be killed with Alcohol or a solution containing Neem oil. Happy Fern Gardening ❤
