ABOUT THIS VIDEO: Bird's Nest Fern BROWN TIPS (and how to fix it!)
In this video about the Asplenium Nidus, also commonly known as the Bird's Nest fern, we will talk about the most common bird's nest fern problems and helpful tips on bird's nest fern care so we can target bird's nest fern brown tips and bird's nest fern brown spots. So if you have bird's nest fern leaves turning brown, this video is especially made for you :-) . We also talk about the reason for bird's nest fern pale leaves (it is very easy to fix this :-)). I hope this video helps making your Asplenium Nidus Crispy wave very healthy and happy!
Mine get brown tip because I usually forget to water it until I see the leaves are droopy. As badly as I treat it, still keep shooting up new fronds all the time. One of the most easy fern to glow!
Thank you so much for sharing!! And I think you are right, the Asplenium Nidus is a very resilient fern :-)
thank you so much! Im new to plants and i bought my very 1st birds nest, but her leaves are turning brown and I had no idea why. All of your tips are wonderful and I will now start to take your advice and help my baby feel better again!
Great detail in a very helpful and matter-of-fact video. Thanks!
Great tips! I definitely found that misting is helping reduce the browning , too.
Ah ! Thanks for sharing this :-) Happy to read your fern is better now đ
I am so happy that i found you on here. I have a victoria birds nest and you helped me so much!! Mine was turning brown and i know that i had it in too much light and the soil was dry because the person who got it for me had me scared about watering it so tge soil was way to dry!! Ashlee (my plants name) is doing sooo much better!!!! Thank you soo much!!
Beautiful video! My little fern was having a hard time, hopefully he does better now. Your tips are so helpful!
Thank you!!! Let me know how it goes with your fern đ
@@PlantsandLucia Hi.. I use tap water not cold but my fern is not good since last winter. I'm in berlin too.. what should I do for my plant ?
Thankyou
I've already lost one crispy wave and now my current one keeps losing leaves to dryness and crispyness so I'm excited to try and save them with your tips!! đ€©
Great video! Many many thanks! đđŒâ€ïž
Thank you! I have my birdsnest in a terrarium and it's almost 130 cm across it got some deformed leaves that are ripping with some brown parts. I never thought it might be because it gets too much light, even though it makes sense. I'll try lowering the light it gets!
i brought mine in for cold weather time and had potted it up also. now it is getting brown and droopy so i put a grow light on it for 3 hrs daily. now just watching to see what happens. thank you for so much helpful info.
Thanks for ur video. I am new to fern care...I think I watered too much especially leaves with spray bottle, also when temp elevated, think placement was too much light, do I moved her to cooler part of house less light. I will also keep water schedule and try filtered water and bottom water. Hoping my fern will bounce back...
Do you have a video on how to repot these plants, I just got a small fern and I donât know how to repot her.
Hey Lucia! Thanks for another helpful video! I have a bird's nest that is of the large variety but it has NEVER grown a leaf larger that one centimeter wide. It always has new fronds in the crown yet, never gets any fuller or bigger. Why us this? I have changed the potting media ect and nothing. HELP! I have the pot just one size bigger than the root ball
Thank you! I moved my fern from a shaded corner of a room, closer to my grow light because someone in your comments from your last video suggested it. Ferns are very tricky, not an easy plant to grow, at all. I am going to move it back to the shade. Stop plant food, since weâre into the Fall (I live in the USA/ New York). And I am going to invest in that humidity temp gage. That will come in handy. đđœ
I totally agree! Ferns can be tricky.. ! Let me know how it goes with yours after the changes you :-)
What plant food do you use
@@msxjade I was using Miracle Gro all purpose plant food. I tried this pellets Lucia recommended but you only get like a few tablets, so not economical.
Iâm so glad I found you. My hurricane fern is struggling. And I canât figure out why. But thanks, I think I know. She probably needs bottom water. And I do keep her in the bathroom. Thanks! #subscribed đ đȘŽ
When the leaves are browning is it best to trim it of leave it?
Thank you for this video. I think mine is a combination, I think the chlorine in my tap water is too high, so Iâll try using filtered water, and move it away from the window as well. my dad has a bunch of these, I swear he fertilizes so much and they are thriving! we shall see.
Hi I bought this fern last week and it was doing well. Iâve now noticed some brown spots on one of the leaves, dark brown tips on some leaves and general browning on the edges of some leaves⊠Iâm most worried about the brown spots. I have my plant in indirect light , and havenât watered it yet, as the soil is still quite moist. Could you offer any advice pls? Iâve got some photos which I can send you on insta if you have an account⊠thanks so much
Oh no. I think I have more than one.
Letting the soil dry out and then over watering.
Root bound
Low humidity.
Thanks for the tips!
My birds nest fern has white spots and the leaves are going pale⊠any idea of what could be the issue?
Do you know what causes brown and yellow spots in bird nest fern? My fern is dying
Thanks for the video, beautiful Lucia! Where did you get that lamp you turned on on the shelf in the beginning of the video?
You are very welcome! I got it in ikea :-)
How do you get rid of little brown bugs on the bird nest plant is inside house
I love your videos! Your voice is so nice and relaxing. My bird nest has lost lead at the very bottom to yellowing... Wonder what this could be? Just an oil leaf that needed to go?
Hi! Thank you so much for asking :-) is it only one leaf?
@@PlantsandLucia Thank you for sharing your knowledge! I see that another smaller bottom leaf is a little paler (yellow-wish). Also it was a few dry tiny spots on the leaves and it hasn't produced any leaves since I got it maybe a month and a half ago. I repotted it when I got it but I used a pot that almost wasn't bigger than its original pot... It had a lot of roots in a tight ball when I repotted it but I didn't touch them... Any tips?
đđ
what about pests or bacterial infestation pls?
Mine ended up with mites. I got those taken care of, but then made the mistake of giving it too much light. Hoping the poor thing will recover. Thanks for the tips!
Aww! Sorry to read that.. Let me know how it goes and good luck !
how did u manage mites pls?
@@amycarlos1261 I rinsed the leaves in water and then gave it a thorough spray of Safer brand Endall.
My bird nest leaves are pale. What is it?.
Is it best to leave brown tips while we diagnose the problem? Or can they be trimmed?
I trim mine.
Do you have a fertilizer recommendation for these plants?
Yes ! I have a link to my favourite one in the description of this video : czcams.com/video/3yZohoyeGFE/video.html They also have offered a 20%off to our community when using the code LUCIA20
This one has been really great for my plants :-) and not too intense so I recommend for sure !
Now that I see this video, I notice my birds nest fern has barely any roots in comparison. It seems to be âokâ but itâs not growing at all. I have it in a self watering container and now Iâm afraid it might be too much for it? It did give me brown leaves but lately the browning stopped, however she doesnât grow at all. Itâs as if its âhanging thereâ but not thriving.
Hmm do you have IG ? Maybe you can send a picture there and we can see if there is a problem
@@PlantsandLucia Yes I do! I will! Thank you so much!
Why are there gaps in leaves
Should you cut off the brown tips?
I think it is under watering.

Use calmag đ
I was giving her too much sunlight đ€Š
