Ok.... scrolling through the Peperomia low key made me want some. Let's start a thread of cool Peperomia! 👇
peperomia futokadsura can look nice with some but horrible with others 👀
Peperomia hope is a cutie and grows really fast!
peperomia pepperspot
peperomia obtusifolia or peperomia ginny have really cute variegation and are more succulent-like then some of the other ones!
Prostrata! Some people have trouble keeping them happy but the little turtle buttons are highly cute, and they don`t look like every other damn wrinkly triangle peperomia out there. Or the plain, green, smooth clusiifolia is an underrated and easygoing pick as well. (those are the only peps I go for lol!)
Fern woke up this morning, and she chose violence. 😆
😂😂😂
😆😆🥰
Straight violence lol.
am i the only one that doesn’t like philodendron pink princess- idk-
same.
She's SKATING ON THIN ICE
Not the only one! Everyone who has one only ever complains about it! Why would I want one? lol
Nope. They’re so overhyped and way too expensive
Same
Fern: *in reference to caladium* “I don’t know they just look like they belong outside!”
Me: She belong to da STREETS
I live in Miami, and my neighbors actually had a random pink and green Caladium leaf in the midst of an overgrown bush in their front yard. It was beautiful. But yes, they definitely seem like they belong outside.
@@roxyru I agree they are gorgeous
i'm not even gonna finish before i comment: CROTON...hideous freak plant
OMG I agree... they hurt to look at
I have one but really don’t like it!!! It’s thriving though and part of me feels guilty if I give it away 😫😅
Katherine H lmaooo just don’t look at it wrong or breathe near it, all of its leaves will fall off
ME TOO
Yesss they’re the worst
me not liking most of the over-hyped plants on instagram really benefits my wallet LMAO
fern: peperomia are hideous
my peperomia collection: 😦
They are beautiful she's an unsophisticated kid. Not very knowledgeable about what she's talking about. Not knowing why plants are the color they are or their function.
@@Yoliplanting That's not very nice. I agree that people should stop giving their opinion about plants they don't like because other people might just feel bad afterwards and I don't see the point :) .
Pillea are cute AF
Okay but like, have you seen a jewel orchid in person? They are STUNDINGGG
Sarah Saboya de Medeiros That's what I was going to say!! The macodes petola is STUNNING!!!
They are gorgeous! with those dark velvet leaves and the macodes looks like it was sprinkled with gold 🥰
@@alexandrar.7407 Yup! I’ve never seen a picture do them justice ✨
It SO glittery, stunning. I also thought I hated it, but you've never seen something like it. Pictures don't do it any justice.
The “lightning bolts” on the foliage is what got me! 🤩
“Don’t get me started on fittonia” LOL same
Can we take a minute to talk about crotons? Can we talk about how UGLY they are? Am I the only one who thinks this?
Agreed, so ugly! 😬
I make two. Ugly!!
I concur. I’m always confused as to who’s buying them but to each their own I guess
I love crotons, they bring so much color to your garden. I have two of them, I take them outside in the summer and overwinter them.
Sooo ugly
I think I'm currently dealing with thrips AND spider mites, so at the moment I dislike pretty much all plants 😂
Hahah AWE I feel youuuu!!
Sameeee
NOTHING takes the joy out of the plant hobby faster than bug outbreaks.
@@bkrbkrl I know right so stressful 😫
I'm having the same combination now. So frustrating!
Peperomia Incana! They have hoya vibes and I would sleep on it if I was an insect. Its so fuzzy
This one has been on my wishlist for a while now. 🤣
Excuse me miss, my jewel orchids would like to have a word with you
😂
😂
ahh i love peperomia and tradescantia!! i even made a whole video about each of them 😂🪴 but it’s fun to know what other people don’t like! i think it’s nice people don’t have the same preferences - it means we won’t be after the same ones!!
I can't understand the hype about begonias 🤷♀️ they're not pretty
I agree....except for begonia maculata, I think those look cool...kinda 👽 though 🤣
They freak me out in a bad way
I got suckered into buying one because of the lighting in the store 😣
Looks terrible in my house
I have a begonia Rex and I love him!! I find the glittering effect very pretty and the cool leaf spikes. At the same time I can see why people wouldn’t like them
have you seen begonia julau tho...
Fern: looks like I would look at it and it would just croak.
Me: spits coffee in laughter.
I used to feel the same way about Rex Begonias but when I saw one in person I was won over. I've had mine for about 6 months now and it grew extremely fast which also made me appreciate it some more.
string of bananas/dolphins/pearls give me so much grief lmfaooo
Same! Hate them all. Just when I thought I had finally mastered one- I came into the room the next day and the string of bananas lost half of its bananas! I'll never but any strings of anything again (besides hearts. Love hearts)
YES! I’ve had multiple string of pearls and they NEVER are happy!
I have a string of tears and it’s super easy and grew very fast
"why don't you just get hoya linearis?" -- because they are impossible to get around here and really expensive, lol. The retusa is cheap and constantly putting out tiny flowers--cute in a small hanging planter. But for sure, definitely a personal taste thing :)
Hahah okay fair :)
I came here to say the same thing! I’ve been on the hunt. 👀👀
I do like both the Retusa and Linearis.
That white and green Tradescantia is one of my favourites too! She’s so whimsical
Love how there are so many plants for everyone! We either love or hate them and that's okay! That being said, begonias kinda freak me out lol
Hahaha yes exactly!
I thought I was a alone in this. Begonias are just like hmmm nope.
I looove these kind of videos! 🐸🍵
So the plants that I dislike:
- maybe unpopular but philodendron pink princess, I don't like the growth pattern, the leaves look hideous to me and I'm also not a fan of colorful plants lol
- orchids, I feel like the typical orchid reminds me so much of grandmas and the more rare ones look just boring to me
- begonias, I really like your angelwing begonia but all of those smaller ones no thank youuu
- pretty much every plant that has yellow variegation, it just looks like dying leaves to me
- I'm with you on the peperomia, my only exceptions would be peperomia prostrata and watermelon (even though mine has thrips at the moment 😩)
- last and definitely least: monstera obliqua, like what why?? It just looks like an uglier version of the adansonii and is as far as I've seen really hard to care for, I really don't get the high price tag
I love my oxalis! It has never gone dormant in the five years I’ve had it. I think the leaves kind of look like butterflies, and the colour is stunning when it’s hit with some evening sunlight. And because they are little bulbs they are resilient!
I don’t get why people will pay an arm and a leg for the philodendron pink princess. They never have that much pink, and I’m not a fan of their growth pattern. Crotons have always looked sickly to me too.
The way you ripped apart that Birkin 😂 I feel the same. I pass them all the time. Every time you called them boring I was ctfu
I have two Birkins. One is getting quite large. When I repotted it one of the 'babies' just fell off, so it's in another pot growing wonderfully. The new leaves come out pure white then turn green. It's so full, makes a great window 'curtain' in my front bedroom. Another blogger has a list of plants that he does not like, however he gives reasons. Does not spread out the stems. Does not flower inside the house, leaves fall off not matter what I do etc. Not that: "I don't know, I don't like the color." At lease that tells us there is no difficulty with the plant.
I was all chill until you said jewel orchids are boring then I was ready to fight 😂
Jk enjoyed the video lol
The Hoya Retusa "It looks like a cluster of grass" THIS IS SO TRUE IM DEAD
I can bring an aroid back from the dead but I can’t keep Peperomia happy. So I feel ya. 😅
I do not like polka dot plants....
They're super fun to take care of but NOT the prettiest growers, especially when they aren't given enough light or pruning and become sad and leggy instead of compact. And you gotta be careful sometimes their variegation (cough *red* cough) really clashes with the leaf color, and when they flower it can sometimes get worse
I think seeing jewel orchids in person like the macodes petola might change your mind, Fern hahaha!
I agree with all your dislikes! My least favourite also include anthuriums, african violets, most dieffenbachia, pink princess philo, any and all ivy (they all remind me of cheap fake plants from school and church that were all dusty and sat there for 30 years), fiddle leaf figs (loved her, killed her, don't love her now), coffee plants, im sure i could go on but i'll stop hahaha !
keeping a caladium inside is interesting, i would rather have a syngonium
Yes 👌
Something I noticed about all of these except the Hoya, they don’t look very natural. They look fake and cheaply manufactured while trying too hard to look real.
Ahh YES.. so true!
Yea look like plastic furry plants from AliExpress HIDEOUS
I have a specific room where my pinky-purple plants live. They really complement each other and that way they don’t clash with the decor in my house 😂
This is such an old video but finally someone agrees with me! Especially when you said the Hoya R I yelled out “Yassssssss!!” Literally everything you listed I think the same and I am always scared to say the truth but when you said “delicate and boring” I spit out my coffee!!! So funny 😆
For my wondering dude, I had to move it and keep moving it until I found it's spot . Because mine was doing the same thing. And now that I have found a spot it loves, I am in love of it.
Tradescantia NEEDS to be pruned to be full and amazing.
If you are only going to have one peperomia, you have to go the way of the turtle! Peperomia prostrata (string of turtles) - so cute you can’t help but love it.
already have a coffee ready for this!
Omg YES I'm drinking one right now too (of course)
@@wildfern since i have started with plants i have realised that the numbers of coffee i have a day has increased 😃 from 2 cups to atleast 5 cups a day 😮
I thought you were talking about a dying coffee plant, in which case - got both ready 😂
You can propagate the nanok to make it more full looking .( I have mine in indirect lighting no burnt leaves here)
I think indirect light is the way to go too. People say they love a lot of light but whenever mine are in direct light they become so crispy and unhappy
I grow caladium outdoors lol, I didn’t even realize for a long time that people grow them inside
I used to think pilea peperomoides looked so ugly, but now I have my own and love it! Helps that it pushes new growth like a champ (super rewarding and easy plant). So I get what you mean about your taste changing with time!
I feel like the love for scindapsus silvering over philodendron silvering is justified. Scindapsus has little flicks of sparkly silver, and philodendron just looks like a piece of duct tape 😂
OMG THIS IS SO ACCURATE. Duct tape vibes!!!
hilarious!
Girl you are a video posting QUEEN lately I love it! How lucky are we!?🤩💖
Cracking up because I just picked up a philodendron birkin and a pink allusion caladium this weekend and they were the first two off the bat 😂
Love this laid back video, also this hair and your skin tone looks so good!
I feel the same way about peperomias, but the ones I do have I'm so in love with and they're so basic and inexpensive. I recommend peperomia ruby cascade, peperomia scandens variegata (grows so cute) incana, and prostrata obviously
Omg the sass in this, LOVE IT. These kind of videos are some of my favorites. I love hearing what people don’t like cause most of the time I tend to agree! I do love my little Hoya retusa tho it has one little yellow flower rn 🥺 🌼
She started off with one of my pride and joy lol. Help me I’m under attack 🤣🤣.
Hahah!!
I know omg I got it as a gift but think the variegation is so pretty!! Esp when the leaves get really big
Omg you broke my heart with the jewel orchid. I don’t like most of them but I really lOVe the lightning bolt macodes petola 🤣 also love oxalis but everything else was spot on LOL.
The new haircolour looks amazing!!! I used to not lke Hoya retusa, but then I saw a huge one in bloom and I really started to like it a lot
Oxalis triangularis are great. They’re very vocal when wanting water, don’t want to dry out, love the sun and move with it, close at night, have beautiful blooms all year round and are such a survival plant. As someone who neglects her plants too often I can say it is by far one of my favorites out of all 150 I have had (mainly love aroids specifically philodendron). Just as an informative 😊
I absolutely agree with you when it comes to the Birkin I looked for a for so long and when I found one I was not impressed at all. The pictures you see of them look really nice, by when I actually seen it, I was interested.
oh i m so in love with hoya retusa! hoya linearis is also pretty but ro rare. I like the weird grass leaves, gives so much texture and unique pattern. :)
Philodendron Birkin is one of my favorites because of how fast it grows! It's super happy all the time, pushed out three new leaves while battling spider mites... It's my well-behaved child that I don't ever have to worry about lol same with my Chinese evergreen, they just mind their business and thrive.
Tradescantia Sillamontana and verigated pallida are my favorite Tradscantia.
Try out a stronger Peperomia like the obtusifolia. As an easy start if you want to. It only needs water when the leaves are a little soft. Ive been wanting the Peperomia Incana! Luv your content Fern💚
I think that green/white tradescantia is an albiflora albovittata. So pretty. 🙂🌱
Yep the pictum tricolor was soooo overhyped earlier last year...when i got mine i was shocked at how long the stem was..i have no idea how to get lower leaves to grow on it...i fell out of love with that plant one day after getting it.
It depends on what type of peperomia, but I don't like the textured ones (Just my opinion)
i don’t know why but seeing hoya retusa makes me physically ILL like i literally cannot look at them so i felt this!!!!!!
It reminds me of the weeds that used to grow at my old house and prick me and the number one reason why I never played in my backyard lol
i love peperomia hope and obtusifola!! super easy and I think they are super cute! they grow super fast so super rewarding. i water my mine like a succulent, only when they get wrinkles and soft!
I have 2 philodendron birkins and I love them! I didn't in the beginning because when I brought it home it had very faint stripes but since I've been giving it a lot of light, the stripes are so vivid and bright. So it's like you get a plant that is super fancy looking but is actually cheap and is so, so easy-going and can take some neglect. That's why I love it 😂
i like the shiny peperomia, so like most caperata varieties, and pep. watermelon & hope. i think peperomia hope is my fav tho, just bc it reminds me so much of hoya!
I like the caperata.. but I kill them
Yesss!! I do not understand the appeal of retusas, even when they’re flowering they just look unhealthy because they’re so sparse
Yessss omg!
Awesome "Monstera leaf" pendant!😍🌿
We all have our own preferences girl. Great video 😃 🌿💚
I have a peperomia hope and I love it ! Looks similar to a silver dollar plant. I feel the same way about oxalis though. They seem too fragile for my liking haha
These are so fun, it is very interesting to see peoples different tastes!
You said "it looks like it has lightning on it" and I'm there like "well hell yeah, that's why its awesome!" 😅 💚🌿
The nanouk definitely could look rly pretty if it was fuller and got top down light. Theyre super easy to propagate so just fill the pot and keep them trimmed so that its not vining like crazy
This is so great! I completely agree about the retusa, jewel orchids, tradescantia, caladium, birkins, and the discolour! I don’t like any of those and I know so many people do but I just don’t haha
I agree with every plant you mentioned...except the hoya Retusa ... that's my latest edition and it was under $10😁 thank you for the content.. your easy to listen to🥰
Caladium? Nooo, you broke my heart ! 🥺
Mine too i love caladiums
Yep, all my tradescanthia have done that but they draw you in as they look so gorgeous when you buy them ! My plant I don’t really like are string of hearts - I know they are really popular but they tangle and knot up and I hate the thin stems ! Not a major orchid fan either although I do see the blooms are stunning x
I have re-named this video “And the next plant I’m going to shit on is...”
🤣🤣🤣 Hey we’re all entitled to our own opinions. I love that you shared yours...however you managed to stay really open minded about all these plants! 😊
Lmao I love how you talk about jewels as fittonia and trandescantias love child 😂.... and the way you scroll on your phone as you say it... like you’re on ig talking about people and hot gossip.... but instead of people.... they’re plants 🤣🤣🤣
Hahaha!
I’ve always been fond of the Peperomia polybotra.
I love most of these, but really appreciate your opinion. Very-well stated. I like black, silvery plants a lot rn. So black jewel orchid, along with black mambo, black alocasias, and black ZZ abound in my corner bookcase giving a goth, varied shape vibe.
Mambo Rex begonia, along with other Begonias abound this winter...*
yes, i tend to agree with all your comments about these plants....At the moment i am addicted to scindapsus silvery ann and argyreaus and exotica because they can climb up a pole or hang .i have grown pilea polybotra raindrop now in a ten inch pot and its awesome with its raindrop shaped thick very glossy leaves. They only sell this one as very small plants usually. its so easy to grow too.
Hahaha! I used to feel the same about the retusa, but I kept noticing it at my nursery during the latter part of the year. Strangely enough, it grew on me! Finally bought it yesterday. It's my 4th hoya 😊
I can agree on the peperomia, oxalis and cissus discolor. I love the ideas of these and got them and they are just so delicate and fussy and not what I thought they’d be.
The peperomia hope is my favorite, maybe you'll find it more attrective because their not bushes. Like your video btw!
The thing I love about peperomia is that their growing season is during winter when nothing else is growing! I think obtusifolia is my favorite. Super easy, and it just sits there during the summer looking alive. 🙂
Yes that's true, that is very cool about peperomia!
I was literally nodding and an agreeing this *whole* video
Same for all that you mentioned!
Except for the Birkin.. 🪴
But I definitely waited for the $12 option at a big box store.
My oxalis is my favorite plant right now!!! It’s flowering the cutest light purple flowers! It moves through out the day. literally it brings me so much joy everyday!
Everyone on CZcams coming for my poor Birkin 😂 It grows nicely and has a few leaves with deep green chunks in between the stripes. Also it‘s been very easy to take care of.
But! I got it without any knowledge of it‘s history (and at a good price). I can understand that might put one off 😄
And I am still quite new to plants so it was my first plant with any kind of white splashes. That was exciting to me haha
this was sooo funny !!(yeah I know this is 3 years old.. you tube just showed me. It didn't take me that long to get the joke 🤣) ""throwing shade"" to plants like people do with celebrity met gala outfits 😆 pity, there is not more of them from Fern.
Ouhhh love the new hair girl!
Totally agree about the Hoya retusa!!
I just picked up my first Hoya today... my krimson queen! I am in looooove.
Funny you mentioned how some of the jewel orchids look light lightning. That's their name! I almost picked one up... so beautiful in person. Maybe one day. They seem to be finicky
My philodendron brandi is such a diva. Like- you’re a philodendron. WHY
I don't know what it wants
It seems like so many people struggle with this one. My running theory is that people try to treat it like a philodendron hederaceum and it doesn't like that. So maybe it wants to stay a little moister or needs wayy more humidity?
Brandi likes lots of humidity and to stay moist. Like why?? Why you gotta have so many rules Brandi???
She's in a 🍪 jar........how much more humidity does this diva need 😰
The plants I don't like anymore is FITTONIA & CROTON ( mine been attacked by mealybugs) 🙁..and now I am in love with Rhipsalis genus, Succulent and Cactus 🌵🌵🌵🥰🥰🥰
Sooooo why is absolutely NO ONE talking about how dang good fern looks with platinum hair 😍😍 girl keep it up!! you look so pretty
D'awww 🥺☺️
My Oxalis never goes dormant and just grows non-stop and blooms non-stop both my purple and green variety. To be fair, they grow outside prolifically in my yard and in all of my neighbor's yards.
i felt the same about the birkin, until i saw it in person. i love how it feels more than how it looks.
I feel EXACTLY the same on this whole list! Enjoyed this. 👍🌱
I’d recommend the Pep Hope! It’s really succulent like, so it might be a option since you already care for Cacti.
I think Oxalis is cute. It was known as "friendship plant" in high school. I had a few then. They grew like weeds. They were purple, I don't like purple plants. But recently I fell in love with the green ones. And the way they open an close during the 24 H period is super cute. They look awkward an fragile, but actually they are resilient.
I can relate to many points from your list. I also don’t really like ivy, crotons, dracena. Juvenile crotons are sometimes cute though🪴
Haha the tricolour and cissus discolour were both on my wish list a few weeks ago 😂
Love how everyone has different likes and dislikes.
Totally get you with the rest 👌🏼
I loved your honesty in this video and I think I you just saved me a lot of money. 😊 so thank you! My Brandi is on the struggle bus but I have to keep trying because I paid so much for her.
I'm new to the indoor plant life....and i agree with you on all of these!! not a pink or purple fan either indoors.
I think the philodendron birkin is pretty and fun. I think I enjoy that the variegation can vary/and change . I wouldn’t pay much money for one. I bought a decent sized one for about 10 bucks so I thought that would be much funner to own than a plain green philodendron plant.
