- Ok Before someone asks, adding 6x9's to most factory head units does not do much good. You get no more power from the unit, just makes it a little more quality sound. I will probably be adding an amp soon, the hard part is getting a 6x9 in the door. The Kilmat will reduce noise inside and outside of the vehicle.
Also I know I keep saying "Killsmat", why??? No cule... lol but take a shot every time I say it and see if you notice it after an hour or so.

The Ram ProMaster City (Type 636) is an Americanised version of the Fiat Doblò introduced in the model year of 2015, to succeed the Dodge Caravan based C/V Tradesman. The ProMaster City is built in the same plant in Turkey as the Doblò and exported to North America. To circumvent the chicken tax, only passenger vans are imported into North America, with cargo vans being post import conversions.
Unlike the Doblò, passenger versions of the ProMaster City use solid metal panels instead of glass in its rear quarters, and third row seating and the lift tailgate options are not offered. The 2.4 litre Tigershark engine mated to the 948TE nine speed automatic transmission is the only power train available for the ProMaster City.[23]
Trim levels are Tradesman, SLT, Wagon, and Wagon SLT. Like the larger Ram ProMaster, the Ram ProMaster City received a facelift for the model year of 2019. The front "crosshair" grille was replaced with a plain front grille with the 'RAM' lettering.
The interior of the facelifted 2019 Ram ProMaster City remains largely unchanged from 2018, although the U Connect 3 5.0BT touchscreen radio is now standard equipment (both GPS navigation and SiriusXM Satellite Radio still remain options), replacing the previously standard U Connect 3.0 non touchscreen radio on models from 2018. This is due to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) regulation of standard rear view backup cameras for the model year of 2019. Now standard are a USB input as well as U Connect Bluetooth hands free calling and wireless A2DP audio streaming, as well as voice control.

Thanks for the video, I agree on the sound system of PMC especially on long drives. It’s like a glorified transistor radio in the ‘60s in this digital era. For the money I paid for my van I’d rather have a good sound system than a backup camera. The van I like a lot but the sound…. I’d buy a Turkey and beat the shit out it so I feel good.
Lol I ended up putting a small amp from a motorcycle I had laying around in it. Helped out so much, since I work out of that van spend many hours driving around. Just bypassing the factory speaker cut out needed an extra part, if you try to remove the oem tweeters the output cuts on the head unit, which is garbage also... lol

Great job my question is those 6x9s have a good portion of em fully covered with the door panel with no holes for the sound to go through?
You can't really tell, the OEM paper speakers are junk and you can hear them. Nothing vibrates or sounds distorted, you could just cut a hole in the inside of your door panel and put the grills that come with the speakers, but I don't like the way that looks. I'm not building a sound competition vehicle, just wanted some more bass and a little better quality. Not sure if you saw the other videos, but I ended up putting a small Rockford Fosgate amp on them, sounded even better added a little more bass. Hope that answers the question but a quick summary, if you were an audiophile or building a competition vehicle, technically it most likely does affect the sound a little, but for just wanting louder and better sound, makes no difference. To be honest I'm thinking about doing what you did. Maybe use a 6x8 just to minimize the cutting of the door panel. Then add the speaker grill on top. I'll check out the other video. Thanks man.

If I put in a 6x8 or 6x9 speaker like you did. Would I be able to cut out an opening for the speaker in the panel and cover it with the speaker grill?

@@Nebuchadnezzar18 I haven't had my door panel off for over a year, so I don't remember the space behind it. I'm pretty sure that panel had enough room to do that, but you are going to loose some leg space on the inside of the vehicle. Unless you are planning on making a boom box out of the van, I don't think it is really needed to cut it on the inside, its more important to do the Kilmat on the inside of the door than that. That will help keep the sound from going outside of the vehicle and give you more of an insulated better sound, not to mention the people 3 cars down can hear your conversations if you are using your phone thru the system.

What is the size of the stock front speakers?
I am pretty sure they were 5-1/2" speakers may have been a 6-1/2". The bad part is the OEM are just paper coned speakers, they sound horrible. Squeezing in those 6x9's make a world of difference, the extra 100.00 for the Kilsmat worth it to help keep the sound In the car and not transferring thru the door.
Biggest question would be, WHO PLACES 6X9s on a promaster city?

Bigger question than that, Why does the factory sound this terrible? Even stock transits sound decent.
My factory door speaker just went bad so looking at doing something similar. Any consideration for maximum watts? Willing to customize as needed too. What's a good Amazon product recommendation?
