The day after the episode with the Alan doppelganger aired, one of Irish papers wrote that Steve Coogan had done more to promote The Wolfe Tones in one night than RTE had done in 35 years!

@@Spartanm333 The 3 songs in that episode, Sweet Sixteen was in the Irish charts for almost 2 years in the early 80's back when people cared about the charts, The Furey Brothers and Davy Arthur sang the version I mean. Come Out Ye Black And Tans, no joke, it's used in an ad for ham fairly recently on Irish tv (with the lyrics changed) The IRA in that song aren't the Provos, it's going back 100 years to the War Of Independence. And The Men Behind The Wire, I believe that one is acceptable and sang by both communities up in Mistor Chuppy Land. (Northern Ireland)

There's a little gag in episode 1 that gets me every time, in the first vingette there's a moment at the start where Alan is walking down the street and setting up what the vingette is about and when he's done you just hear a guy in the background yell "PARTRIDGE YA WANKER"! It's a small thing but I laugh every time, great review lads :)

Hey, young East Coast American chiming in with an admittedly limited perspective on the legend that certainly is Alan Partridge. The bulk of my familiarity with the character comes from his appearances on "The Day Today" with Jonathan Ross (thanks, CZcams, for archiving EVERYTHING). That whole show was a masterstroke of comedic genius all around, but Alan's segments were always the standouts. I can scarcely imagine what an entire half-hour with that sort of humor might entail (beyond your lovely highlights), but I'll definitely seek more of the man out.

I think the best thing when watching it is not to expect another I'm Alan Partridge, and then you won't be 'disappointed' - I think this is what a lot of people were initially expecting and that's why the reviews weren't great, but I think this concept was good, maybe it should have been addressed clearer when first released? How’s Mr. Planet of the Apes man? Oh. Is he still driving that Renault Megane? Yeah? Can I just read you something from Top Gear magazine? No, it’s alright, I’ve got it here, I’ve got it here.
“With a mere ninety break-horse-power available, progress is too leisurely to be called fast, but on the motorway in fifth gear the Megane’s slow pace really becomes a pain. Uphill runs become power-sappingly mundane, while overtaking National Express coaches can become a long, drawn-out affair.” Not my words, Carol. The words of Top Gear magazine. Hello?

Don't know if you'll read this Jay but 100% prefer stuff done in person even if we have to wait a bit. Can't rush quality plus, as we go into the spring, the virus stuff will naturally calm down. Love the vids as always

The finest visual gag occurs when Alan tries to squeeze in alongside a row of tightly packed audience members and one falls off the end of seats 😂
