Crossing the streams a bit, but the more I think about it, the more I realize that Goro is just the MK version of mid 90s Sid. Awesome theme music. Big man power moves. Limited mobility with maximum hotdogging. You could say...he has twice the arms you have. And he has half the brain that you do.
Even as a child I always thought the Johnny Cage autographed photo belonged to Scorpion and it was just a film joke, like âisnât it funny that this demon is Johnny Cageâs #1 fan?â
Cage gives someone an autographed photo at the start of the film, I always thought that bit was them going "Yeah that guy Cage stupidly gave the photo to earlier? It was Scorpion all along!" I watched this movie for the first time a few years back with some friends, and that was THE moment of the film. Such a fun little punchline.
"It's hard to give out while you are marking out" is probably the best quote from any OSW. Great stuff as always, can't wait for the next MK film review

This is beyond fantastic. The amount of nostalgia in this is so overwhelming I adore it. Being the big Mortal Kombat fan that I am, this is absolute perfection. I love all the massive attention to detail to the research, trivia and commentary. The jokes in this are god tier. This is class. You have outdone yourself Jay.

My friends and I saw the first MK at the drive-in theater. It was a blast! Except for the mosquitos, but the concession stand nachos always made up for it.
I first saw this from the GamesMaster show (which is coming back this year), but the first time I played it was on the arcade at Flamingo Land. Never got to beat it, but we watched someone played through the entire game as Sub Zero, that's always been stuck in my mind seeing that ending.

Jay! In the arcade, the person who set the bios and options of the arcade cabinet would choose the difficulty. Or sometimes the workers at the arcade if they were privy. So depending on the machine that you played, the difficulty could have been easier..... or tougher!!
There was a big arcade in my hometown which had an entire floor for laser tag. All they did - is play 3 songs. One was the MK theme... whenever that hit, I'd start karate kicking people's guns from their hands. I'd get yelled at, "son, that's not how you play.' But like.... Mortal Kombat.

Just watched the 2021 reboot/remake/re-whatever movie, and I have to say, this one is still better. Yeah, it's cheesy, and the CGI doesn't hold up AT ALL, but it's still a fun ride that doesn't overcomplicate things, and it's just a crowd-pleaser. I remember going to see this in the theater as a kid, and my mom taking me and my brother, and she actually had a great time with it, much to my surprise. She's still one of the harshest movie critics I've ever met, and she thought it was a really fun popcorn flick, which to me at least shows what kind of mainstream appeal it has.
Oh right! He's a lovely dude, I'm on to him often enough, whenever we do some old English ppvs/shows we should have him on đ been a fan of his since Wes & Larry on the telly!

It's not what we wanted at the time...but "The Spaghetti Incident?" is pretty awesome. Raw Power, Ain't It Fun, Human Being, Hair of the Dog, Black Leather, You Can't Put your Arms Around a Memory... Great stuff!
"3/10, Piece of shit..." sums this movie up very well. I remember seeing this in the theater as a kid and absolutely loving it as the lads can confirm but on multiple watch backs, I just cant bring myself to give it any more than a 3/10.

The musicians behind Mortal Kombat's iconic techno music credited themselves on the original MK soundtrack as The Immortals--- they were actually 2 founding members of the provocative and controversial techno/industrial dance band Lords of Acid.
Lords of Acid also did the music for the Reptile fight, it's an absolute banger.
CVX save room music was a nice touch...

The soundtrack to both mortal kombat movies sparked my interest in music and made me the man i am today.
It's not what we wanted at the time...but "The Spaghetti Incident?" is pretty awesome. Raw Power, Ain't It Fun, Human Being, Hair of the Dog, Black Leather, You Can't Put your Arms Around a Memory... Great stuff!

"3/10, Piece of shit..." sums this movie up very well. I remember seeing this in the theater as a kid and absolutely loving it as the lads can confirm but on multiple watch backs, I just cant bring myself to give it any more than a 3/10.
Both MK movies had amazing soundtracks, filled with all sorts of 90s Industrial awesomeness (and the first had Chicago hometown boys Sister Machine Gun's Burn, which is a great song)

I was and still am a MASSIVE WMAC Masters mark. Loved watching the show, loved that Ho Sung Pak, who did the Liu Kang motion capture for MK 1 and 2, was featured as âSuperstar.â
Woke my wife up belly laughing at the surprise Art O'Donoooooo cameo, god damn. I love this movie forever, I saw both the 90s MK flicks in the theater with my mom, she loves them too.
