Because all the twists to the premise. First, he treats it like a typical battle Royale. Then wants to use them as death fodder. Then realizes they might be partners and needs to be careful.

LOL to be fair that is the only logical way to think about it. You don't want to waste any time, and you want to get as much intel as possible. So you are going to assume this is based off past games.
Once the rule changes are made clear, then you re-adjust your strategy and intel.

I LOVE how much he thinks clearly. The Problem is that he is Always in "spectator Mode". What i mean is that he doesnt think Like the Person and rather Like he has retrys. No Person will be able to think clearly in a Life or death Situation.
well it's more like a death or death here. If the person is aware that their survival instincts may get exploited by the gamemasters they can and will adjust to strategical thinking rather than rush decisions.

@@joliax1646 oh yeah absolutely he presents these solutions for entertainment purposes only. However I am still a liiitle bit tired of seeing kids be completely clueless in these types of movies. They could really benefit from a charming leading character that can use the "adapt and overcome" strategy (to the best of his ability always, reminder that these are horror movies)

seeing the intellectual kids have a plan to fight back was def an enjoyable watch
It's more that he has the power of hindsight, there is a lot of decisions made based off knowing how the situation ultimately plays out. He is thinking strategically like a trained soldier would be taught to. Special forces for example are taught how to handle a scenario where they are captured and tortured. The reality is that these kids do not have that training or the maturity to think with a level head as they are in shock and overwhelmed by the situation.
The other issue is that humans will often avoid confrontation in traumatic scenarios in the hope to survive, just see any documentary of a kidnapping or hostage situation, most people do as they are told when as a spectator your saying "why would you not just fight back"! Ask anyone what they'd do if an armed man takes over the airplane they are on and they'd tell you they'd "try and stop them" but the reality is they absolutely wouldn't as no matter how bad the situation seems, people naturally expect they can get out of it if they keep their head down and do as they are told we only need to look at our own history to see people willingly step up in a firing line to be executed rather than trying to run or wrestle a gun off someone.

Now, their first mistake was not having schizophrenia. Being anti-social would make you decide to not go on the field trip with the other students, and you would escape having to go through the death game altogether. It may suck to be filled with paranoia and anxiety your whole life, but it beats having to charge a base full of terrorists.

They are partnered by their class #s and they are explicitly told this (& even shown an example of this during the briefing) so there are several scenes where students go out of their way to protect another student because they know if one dies, they both do.
