I love how this version of Hulk gets visibly bigger the angrier he gets. Recent movies forgot about that aspect of Hulk
Thank God they did. I mean it works in Comics but as you can see here its just looks stupid when the proportions are suddenly completely changed.

That's really the main thing that I disliked... In the comics he gets stronger, but not larger (unless that has changed since I read them).

They’d never let a director have this much freedom over a big budget comic book movie these days. This was as grounded and as serious an attempt as you could hope to possibly get.

@@moneygangceo I actually think the hulk looks more real in this than the mcu. Something about how the lighting reflects off him. But the whole world in it and the way people reacted to situations and the plot and characters all felt real too.

@@mokokoco4720 I kind of think of it as, since Hulk is pretty much gamma radiation his cells have the ability to rapidly keep mutating "upgrading" for survival to any resistance from the environment.

3:51 i still dont understand how they were able to get the cgi to look like that in that shot. It looks ultra realistic: unlike any cgi of today. It looks as if hulk actually existed and was being recorded right there in person!
Glad someone else saw this too. Specifically that bit. The lighting and motion capture is incredible. You can see every muscle contraction and even how his skin and muscles wobble as he smashes through the wall and then runs off. Unless you look at it over and over you’d easily miss these amazing details. ILM did an incredible job on this film considering how old it is. You don’t see this kind of quality even these days.
I think its the way they added motion blur to his movements it actually blends him in with the realistic backgrounds, the scenes of him jumping are amazing
They cared more. Now they just let technology do everything
Most of it was because the took their TIME on it and kept the real world real too. Not a bunch of blue screens
@@sm6086you obviously don’t understand how CGI is done both past and modern. They care just as much. The Problem is time, and the number of VFX shots that now have to be produced in time of release.
I love how they made the movie screen look like you’re watching comic panels.
That was the worst part of the movie in my opinion. Movies have motion they dont need panels like a comic.
It was a Unique idea but they executed it wrong…
I think it worked better in Scott Pilgrim and the Spider-Verse films as those were self-aware and more lighthearted than this film.
People hated that aspect of this movie but it's kind of cool, they only use it for transitions and action so it wasn't that distracting to me, if the entire movie did it then i would see a problem.
You know how I see this scene. I see it as an emotional scene. Hulk just wanted some fresh air after remembering what happened to his Mom but the army kept attacking him. This thought makes the scene hit differently

The motion captured expression of this Hulk's emotions is one of my favorite aspects of this film. I believe Ang Lee himself did some or at least demonstrated what he wanted. He really does make me think of an angry kid sometimes, which he is interpreted to represent in the comics back when the comics gave Bruce his dissociative identity disorder. Memories of abusive childhood coalescing into a rage beast.

You know Abomination is acually stronger than the Hulk right. The only difference is the madder hulk gets the stronger Hulk gets. The abomination doesn't have this ability. The first time the Hulk fought the Abomination in the comics the Abomination was stronger and the hulk had to outsmart him.

I know people badmouth this film and some arguments are valid, but I still like it.
My only peeve with it is its editing choice, the comic books panels and all that. It's original but unnecessary. Love Nick Nolte's performance in it too. One of his greatest.

I loved how Hulk was presented as an incredibly powerful creature in this movie, he could tank anything that they threw at him.
New one is cool too but he doesnt feel like the unstoppable force hes meant to be.

I loved comic hulk bc he felt like an unstoppable monster. He just refused to be overpowered by anybody. Even thanos struggles, he needs to rely on cosmic power to take him quickly.

It is funny to read those who say that the graphics in this movie are bad.. Athough in fact the graphics in this movie are incredible good and very realistic! A lot of work was done to create every muscle of the Hulk, every animation, etc. This movie is adult and dark, with no childish jokes like all modern Marvel movies.. What is worth one fight with dogs in the woods, music and special effects. Amazing movie, and the best version of the Hulk.
For babies who like to lick lollipops and watch Netflix, this Hulk might be unusual. But this is the right kind of Hulk.......

It’s funny - Hulk has long been derided for the plasticky, lurid green CGI model of Hulk himself, but watching this sequence, the CGI is otherwise very good: the motion, expression and especially the integration of CGI with real sets and practical effects all look great.
Say what you will about this movie, but it shows hulk has unlimited power, and I think we all agree is bad ass !

That was not an accurate size of the Hulk. At the most the Hulk is 10 Ft not 20- 25 ft tall.
In truth his official height according to Marvel is size is about 7-8 feet tall! So I don't know where you guys are getting this accurate height from because its not accurate to the comic

This is the best Hulk movie ever made.
I remember I was 9 years old when this movie came out and I was such a huge fan of Hulk that my parents bought me a shirt, pants, flippers with Hulk on them and I had them on feeling like a total badass going to the cinema to watch it for the first time and oh man what an experience it was…Everyone loved Spider-Man and Batman but my hero was The Hulk…Such great memories
I would have loved to see Ang Lee’s version of Red Hulk visualized in a sequel. Sam Elliot would have been great. I honestly think this movie was released 10 years too early to be appreciated. I loved it as a kid and I love it even more now as an adult.

That's the Hulk I grew up with. This is the closest we got to the original comics in the movies.
This is by far the best and most realistic version of the Hulk. The MCU clearly didn’t take notes before any of the avenger movies.
MCU Hulk was too mainstream for his own good
General Ross sure felt sorry that his daughter, Betty, wasn't at that desert base with him. She could've tried to reason with Glenn Talbot to let Bruce Banner go because she wouldn't stand for Bruce being abused by Talbot, who was jealous of Bruce for being between him and Betty and wanted revenge on him for refusing to let his research go to the company Talbot was working for. Even if Talbot heard Betty's voice on the speaker begging him to let Bruce go before he makes Bruce angry again and turns into the Hulk again, Talbot wouldn't listen anyway.
Another example that Talbot here is a big asshole, who finally deserves his death by that explosion. Still, if it was Abomination, not Hulk, he would kill him in a more brutal way of all imagine.
I loved the transformations in this movie. They don't do em anymore they just cut from bruce to Hulk. Lazy
Somehow this Hulk looks better than the MCU one, must be that this color contrast much better with the background.
At 2:43, you see how all of these men are shooting their shots at Hulk. What I find it interesting is that Hulk could have easily retaliated and killed all of those hoards of men who were shooting at Hulk as an act of returning the favor of damage back at them. But since Hulk is not really concerned at the fact that the men shooting, he literally doesn't have that thought on inflicting danger upon these men by killing them right away. Instead, he pushes the cargo cart at them, to stop the firing, and to be free at peace. If this was the 2008 Hulk in this case, I assure you 100% that he would have killed every single one of these men, with no mercy. I just like how Eric Bana Hulk was able to maintain his composure by not creating more havoc than what it already was. Another reason why I appreciate the Eric Bana Hulk instead of the Edward Norton Hulk: his ability to compose himself and not worry about the physical damage inflicted upon him. Even if Eric Bana Hulk intents on retaliating another opposing threat, he will not subdue that threat to their ultimate demise.
2008 Hulk is so petty.. He killed those guys in the factory except Blonsky, all those soldiers at the university, all because they hurt his feelings with bullets

Sam Elliot's Ross was so much better than William Hurt's. May he rest in piece, but Willam's Ross was portrayed incredibly incompetant at his job, especially in 2008's Hulk. Sam Elliot's Ross loses every engagement to the Hulk just like William's, but it is portrayed in a means where his orders are always in a means of still somewhat controlling the outcome of the situation.

I was not a fan of the panels. I know they were trying to give it a comic book feel, but I thought it made the movie difficult to watch.

Thiswas the biggest Hulk ever 😅 no one would stand a chance look how big he is, MCU Thanos is tiny to this Hulk, well maybe not tiny but skinny to this Hulk and his bigger on the shoulders and big cuffs and feet. The guy is massive, when he came out that hole for a second there I thought of Kong coming out that hole in Godzilla vs Kong.The people looked tiny when hulk came out really tiny or am I high 😭🤣
...Stan Lee himself (the creator) actually *wasn't as much of a fan about his height - the version with Ed Norton (or even the 1st few Avengers) was preferred
But admittedly this film did have a few cool moments I guess ✌️
