    Just got these put on my Q50 Red Sport today. Take this with a grain of salt since it's just one day but man, it's so much nicer of a ride compared to the stock Dunlop run flats that came with the car. Granted, those had 9600 miles when I got the car and 16400 miles at this point but I can't imagine those rf's ever rode this smooth since rf's are pretty hard.

    Although not the exact tires in this review I’ve had the wide oval for some years now on my W body (‘04 Monte Carlo SS) and although low hp I do always enjoy spirited driving on corners, decreasing off camber radius turns and these tires have been outstanding. Although they were mostly used during non winter months they have worn exceptionally well for what they were purchased for. That and the price point is outstanding. Hoping my next purchase of these updated Indy 500’s provide equal enjoyment.

    I grabbed these for my 09 Rabbit, 235,40 18 two years ago, $99 per tire plus $60 rebate from tire rack. Now they are $170 each at tire rack, and I've seem them over $200 each. Kills me that I didn't grab another set as they are amazing tires.

    I have been rocking them on the rear on my G35 that's fairly heavily modded and sees the drag strip and some street use. They are impressive for the price. I run aprox 28-30psi and air to 35psi when street driving. Going to put them on my k04 swapped mk6 gti that's my daily and will just drive my awd lexus in the snow.

    • @christopherjohnston6343
      @christopherjohnston6343 Před rokem

      I'm way late but we generally have moved away from our markets version of the Indy 500 (the Re003)
      RE-71R is an amazing tyre but on a completely different level. Re003 doesn't really compete with the lower tier 200TW tyres such as RT615k and RS4 in hard driving. It operates at a lower temperature so will basically be on in warmer weather so doesn't really need to be warmed up to reach optimum temperature. It does heat soak though (even with hard Street driving) and the grip levels are quite a bit lower than the current gen performance tyres.
      Probably okay as a playful tyre for autocross if you're not taking things too seriously. Also excellent for road driving with plenty of feedback and with limits that are high enough to get a lot of pace out of but not so high that you can't play with limit of adhesion.
      They do okay in the rain. Better when new but they can't be pushed as hard as proper performance Street tyres like PS4/5 And Goodyear Eagle F1A6 etc
      Just a good budget performance tyre with good manners and wear for daily driving. Good beginner tyre to get into performance driving but if you've moved on to the cream of the 200TW crop you'll probably find these disappointing

    Hmm. A more experienced driver and I both Autocrossed my 370Z Sport with these tires. They squealed around every curve. I was hoping for better results. We determined that the tires were the weakest link. We did not have issues with overheating like I did with the factory Bridgestone Potenzas.
    But, I love these tires for every day driving. They do seem confident on wet roads. I have had them for over 7 months now. Plus, for half the cost of other tires, they are excellent.

    Autocrossers where I'm at won't use them. I have them on my hellcat challenger, shaved off seconds and put me much closer, like under 3 seconds to those mustangs that weigh like 800 pounds less. And I suck. The thing is, no tire will completely hook well with so much power without good control of throttle. They are however, probably like 80 percent less likely to spin on takeoff than the stock pirellis.

You would not know until it was too late. Now till the tires defense it has a slow leak in the idiot before me who own the vehicle did not care for it like I could as they did not have mechanical aptitude. Slowly probably contributed to low tire contributed to rim rubbing tire wall. Otherwise tires are ruthless pure unadulterated on dry and fantastic on wet surfaces

      You're absolutely right about that. Unless you're concerned about wear on a daily driver or can't find the RE71's in your size they're a far better AutoX tire, some actually refer to them as a 180 "cheater" but they qualify for SCCA events as a 200 treadwear and cost less than sport cup 2's. I've got 400 rwhp,(dyno sheet available), and they handle that without any problems.

    These tires are COMPLETE GARBAGE!! I've had them on two different vehicles, because their cheap and the handling is atrocious. And that's comparing them to BFG Radial TA, Futura GLS Super Sport, Hankook Optimo, and some of brand I've never heard of but they were cheap. Nothing was changed except the tires. Try a set of BFG Radial TA or any Michelin for a year then put these on and you'll see just how bad these tires are. If you like them that's fine to each their own but to call them good is just ignorant. The size that I had was 235/60R15 and 215/60R14. Would not put these on my daily driver even if they were FREE.
