- 'Tales From the Bottle' tells the tale of the KILLDOZER, the man who made it, and the why, the what and the how.
"Marvin John Heemeyer (October 28, 1951 - June 4, 2004) was an American welder and an automobile muffler repair shop owner most known for his rampage with a modified bulldozer. Outraged over zoning disputes, he armored a Komatsu D355A bulldozer with layers of steel and concrete and used it on June 4, 2004 to demolish the town hall, the former mayor's house, and other buildings in Granby, Colorado. The rampage ended when the bulldozer got stuck in the basement of a Gambles store he was in the process of destroying. Heemeyer then killed himself with a handgun.
Heemeyer had been feuding with Granby officials, particularly over fines for violating city ordinances and a zoning dispute regarding a concrete batch plant constructed opposite his muffler shop"

To think all that could have been prevented by building a simple access road
Which he would do by himself as he had equipement and know-how. Just let him do it.
His access road was actually never severed, and it's a myth that he bought the bulldozer to build one. The one thing he had to do to get the local authorities off his back was to install a septic tank or get hooked up to the sewer. This video explains it well: czcams.com/video/Yvl_7_Up7zU/video.html The video is based on the book "KILLDOZER: The True Story of the Colorado Bulldozer Rampage" by local journalist Patrick Brower.

@BenjaminTheRogue I think it's true that he bought everything, well, he did build a tank with one of these kind of machine.

@@tishaak2800 That isn't true. The True story is he was just an asshole who didn't get his way. The cement plant didn't block him, it didn't cut off his sewer access. In fact he never had sewer access. He was fined for dumping his sewage in public after years of him refusing to connect to the sewer. The big "wrongs" that were done to him was someone he didn't like built a concrete plant near him, and the city rezoned that lot. Thats all.
The failure of the killdozer only reinforces the statement of engine systems:
The cooling system is the most neglected system on the vehicle.
Went out the same way of the Ferdinand in WWII
This is why the German tanks, despite having better armor and firepower still broke down a lot because of the engine.
I’m betting that the metal plate in front of the radiator is what ended him the, the cooling system is already barely able to keep up with a dozer working all day
There was no way for the vehicle to go the distance. To be honest it went beyond what anyone should have expected of it. It had armor sealing the radiator (it needed to be or that'd have been the focus of their attacks) As noted this was the fate of many tanks because even with proper lines and piping sealing a system like this means you need a long list of redundancies that would have required another year or two to engineer in this thing and I suppose rage can only fuel a project so long when the lights are about to go out and its cold at night alone in your shop.... To start with, I am absolutely blown away that I have never heard of this incident before now.. second of all, as a welder, I am fascinated with the craftsmanship of the dozer itself.. So much preparation, thought, and work went into this... I just can't get over why this incident isn't more known about these days.. like considering the circumstances and everything going on, wow this is cool in a sick twisted kind of way...
I love the ending they took it apart and then spread it around like they were worry that if all pieces where brought back together, hell will start.
same XD
It's like taking apart the ancient cursed relic and disposing of it in a bunch of different temples.
I immediately thought of like Jason Voorhees or Michael Myers, how you've got to cut them to pieces and send those pieces to different places and bury them or sink em in the ocean. Regardless of what they do, there WILL BE A HALLOWEEN 8. AND.......THE KILLDOZER WILL RISE AGAIN!!

Sorry but I love this dude. Sometimes violence IS the answer. This man is a much better person than I am, because I would not have stuck to property damage after all of that. The fact that NO ONE was injured, and the only casualty was Heemeyer himself? Respect. RIP Heemeyer, you are my hero.

My dad was a plumber in Grand Lake (A small town by Grandby) and he remembered Marv really well and talking to him in hardwear stores and even his shop. The Tread documentary showed the people who wronged him, and they denied it. Yet, when he started his rampage, they knew exactly whos buildings and homes would be destroyed. Sold themselves out, without even realizing it. Guilty concience is a powerful thing.
