I have gone from growing on a windowsill to now, real raised beds. I started my real garden last season in my biggest growing space yet. I rent an apartment and I have free reign of a large garden with lawn, hedge, and a "waste" slope I'm currently building up the soil for future use. I have free access to horse manure, chicken manure, and even alpaca. I can forage comfrey, nettles, and horsetail for building fertility with teas. I have a hot composter, and a small waterbarrel and use the Bokashi system. I have almost zero kitchen waste at the moment. My seeds will soon go into my seedstarting setup and I couldn't be more excited and proud of this lifestyle. I have followed your journey with great interest. I enjoy your approach and style. I hope I get to see even more epically informative and entertaining content going forward.

To Kevin's point about not waiting:
Last year I planted some cold-weather vegetables early, and left some uncovered to see if they would survive a frost. They couldn't have cared less. So now I have an idea of how much cold they can take.
This year, I have put an assortment of a few of this and that out at the end of January (that I started at New Years) to see what will survive, while preparing for actual spring indoors. So far, the outside plants are surviving. Not much growth visible, but nothing has died. We'll see what makes it through this next week's frost and snow, but either way, I'll have received much better information on what exactly will harm the plants and what actually needs better protection like row covers and cold frames.

You can get away with a lot as far as citrus goes with yuzu, sudachi, flying dragon/trifoliate orange, and probably a few others that are adapted to higher mountain living. Yuzu and sudachi are *delicious*, too.

Amazing final notes. It certainly is a fulfillment that can’t be described. I’m well on my way to transforming our urban property, needing to take the plunge into chicken-keeping next. Thanks for the continued inspiration!

Kevin, I am so curious how much all of these awesome systems have cost you in total to implement. Your property is a paradise! 🤩 Also I used to be a florist and would love to see you plant more flowers! 😊💐🌼

I like how you compartmentalize. Glad I discovered this one as well, I was dumb and thought it was only audio.

24 solar panels are how many watts each? Guessing 400 to get 8+kwh

Bloody greedy utility companies posting record profits each year. 🤦‍♂️ Theives and scoundrels the lot of em.
We have a big bank of solar where I live, South West UK. I expect it's a similar deal. I'm off grid in my caravan, but go up to a cabin with sockets to charge my powerbanks and batteries. We're on a bore hole for water, so I fill up bottles and cart them back. I'm very lucky to exchange work for my rent and utilities. I live in a field so have a lovely big garden. That's the reason why some large sacrifices are easier to accept.
Thank you for all the help and knowledge Plant Daddy 😄
*You might be about to answer this in the video 😍
Could you please do something on fruit tree spacing. Your's look so close and against all knowledge I'm finding. What do you know that I don't? Cheers 😊

He has done a video on this , he plants them close because he prunes them hard to keep the trees small and manageable! So he can grow them closer so they don’t over produce!

@@Plantandpeoplecarer I'm looking for specific distances and how it will impact growth, productivity etc. I'll look back at that video though. Cheers 👍

4 feet apart i believe, pruning to ~7 ft high.
