Hey Jacque, I like the format, the conversation and enjoyed the education too. Not so sure about the one camera back and forth. Split screen seemed better, I wonder what the conversation would look like with a two camera. How about stroll discussion. But really, the video was very cool. Thanx guys, keep it up!

The thing with the too much compost in the mix is a pretty simple one. The whole point of it is the microorganisms. After the mix is saturated with enough it becomes a non issue, but the high amount of nutrients in the vermi/-compost will lead to nutrient "toxicities".

I overproduce every year but i don't mind if the overproduction goes back to the ground. Many times i find some nice volunteer plants the next year and i just let them grow without any care. Sometimes very nice extra harvest without any effort, sometimes i don't even harvest.

We have had ducks for 5 years and had 12 at one time. She spoke very well and covered the downside of having male ducks. As an experienced duck owner that has a 1 acre pond, so I don’t have that part of cleaning up to take care of…. If I could go back, I wouldn’t have gotten them. We were gifted our first ones, so we were unprepared starting out, but we’ve learned SO much along the way. They are a lot of work, especially if you live somewhere cold. They’re so messy. I love them but when these last 4 are gone, no more ducks for us.

I heard this on the daily podcasts. Yes, there are some great points here but my gosh I feel like this person is afraid of everything in the garden! And would she ever let her kids go out and play in the dirt? I’ll take Garden Answer’s (Laura) approach any day - Let the kids pick the berries, and apple off the tree and eat it right then and there and don’t worry so much!

Jacques here: I also don't lean towards being this worried on cleanliness (I often eat produce without even a wipe on the shirt) but I can also appreciate the mention for immunocompromised people or even a reminder for myself on produce near my chicken run. Eating straight out the garden is a simple pleasure I can't give up myself.

The carrot salad. Its a very very old way of eating carrots. When i was a child my mom would use a carrot peeler to slice them thin. She would then use lemon, salt and then put them in the freezer just a little to get that cold. One of the core memories of my childhood. ❤

It's interesting to hear about the different products available! I don't live in the US and here, everyone uses "garden soil" for containers, raised beds, and topping up in ground beds with or without extra additions like perlite, and it's very effective. I think the ingredients must be different.

Epic Gardening inspired me to start growing my own garden and this year I've upped my game with some raised beds and I just purchased a greenhouse for overwintering my santaka chiles and hopefully building an aquaponics system. I also keep medaka rice fish. They're a great option for small water features, and could be a colorful small fish option for your pond as long as the other fish don't eat them 😅
