Personally I would ditch the derailleur version across the whole lineup because in my view it doesn’t fit the Riese & Muller ideology of durability, low maintenance and sustainability. But otherwise it looks great.

Still using my Charger from 2019 as a travel bike in combination with a solar panel, just got back from a 1.800 Km trip through Germany, Austria, France, Belgium and the Netherlands without using power from the grid. Watch my videos about my trips on my channel!

Your new model does indeed have some nice and improved features. Unfortunately, only one battery, not two, and the CX motor, not the speed motor.

Lovely bike! You talk about the option to have the comfort handlebars, I cannot see this option on your site. Did I miss anything?
Also, how much is it possible to adjust the stem?

    • @rieseundmuellerGmbH
      @rieseundmuellerGmbH  Před 2 lety +1

Hello Johan and thank you for your message. The Comfort Kit is currently not selectable due to lack of availability. Once we have it back in stock, the handlebar mentioned in the video will also be an option for the Charger4.
The joint of the stem offers no limitation, depending on body size and desired seating position, the stem can thus be adjusted individually for you as far as the view of the display is not restricted.
      Many greetings

Hello Jonathan, The new smart system from Bosch is an innovative product that is separate from the previously known Bosch e-bike system.
Due to technical factors, it is not yet compatible with the Performance Line Speed motor, which is why we cannot offer the models equipped with the smart system as HS versions until further notice.
Whether and when the smart system can be technically combined with the High Speed motor in the future and whether we will then expand our product range to include a HS version, we are unfortunately unable to answer this question at this time.

@@rieseundmuellerGmbH Edit after 700km's of usage: apart from the high beam button mount which is a bit flimsy and moves when pressed too hard, everything on the bike that is Riese & Müller has been great. However, you guys have really been let down by Bosch and their smart system. It has been nothing but errors and failed updates for me, culminating in me now having a bricked bike that won't even turn on sitting in my garage, led's flashing with orange error colors is the only life I can get in the bike anymore.

Hello SportsFan, the Charger4 uses the new Bosch smart system, which is offered with the Performance Line CX motor (4th Gen), the 750 Wh battery, the LED Remote and the Kiox 300. With the smart system, even greater emphasis is placed on connectivity. You can find more information here: www.bosch-ebike.com/de/produkte/das-smarte-system
Currently, the Charger4 is not compatible with the Rohloff e-14 shifting system and is not available as an HS Bike. The Mixte variant will be introduced in summer and will be configurable on the website from 1.8.22.
The Charger3 is equipped with a 625 Wh motor as standard, which can be upgraded to 1125 Wh with the DualBattery option. It can be combined with different displays and is available with Rohloff as well as HS Bike.
The individual components installed also differ in part. For more detailed information, we ask you to take a look at the specification list on the respective websites of the bikes and get individual advice from a Riese & Müller dealer.

I want to get an ebike “now” and my local bike shop has a Charger 3 coming in next month. Besides the additional battery capacity what are the benefits of the charger 4 over the 3, it isn’t clear to me. I am inclined to just get the 3 next month and start enjoy but wanted to get an idea what I would be missing if I waited for the 4 (sounds like it might be next year).

At 5:54 I'm sorry as I'm probably the only one who hears "can't" instead of can. It sounds like you say "can't" have the Rolhoff hub with this bike. Also you show the Envio hub which also makes me think that maybe the Rolhoff isn't the best choice. Is it now where only the Envio is available? Why do you choose Envio over Rolhoff? I'm probably the only one who hears this so sorry about that. For extended world touring is the cargo bike a better choice or to have the Super Charger GT and pull a one wheeled trailer? Also has the war in Ukraine slowed down your manufacturing? Do you heat your factory 100% solar, or off the grid? Also thank you for all the great things you are doing for a Green Generation!

The Charger4 is equipped with the new smart system from Bosch. For technical reasons, this cannot yet be combined with the Rohloff e-Shift, which is why we are offering the models equipped with the smart system with a derailleur (touring) and the continuously variable Enviolo hub gears (vario) until further notice.
Whether and when the smart system can be technically combined with the electric Rohloff gearshift in the future and whether we will then expand our product range with a Rohloff variant, we can unfortunately not answer at this time.
