  • Could I swap out a 100km return commute into work in my car for this premium e-bike?
    What sort of range does the Charger 4 have, and will it last my commute?
    We got a loan of the Riese & Muller Charger 4 for a few days from our E-bike specialist friends at www.greenaer.ie They have a great range of e-bikes and are really knowledgeable!
    This is one of the most premium electric bikes on the market. We wanted to put it to the test. So we swapped the car for the bike for our long commute to test out comfort, range, practicality and charging! We also talk about the Bosch motor, Enviolo Hub, kiosk display & more!
    It's a bit of a range test and review rolled into one.

      Interesting...you'd easily do the roundtrip on less than half a battery! About €0.10c worth of electricity! Park the bike below and bring the battery up to the office. You can also bring up the display which immobilises the motor I believe. Happy bike shopping, check out the team at GreenAer, they're really helpful. Thanks for the comment Donall!

    Great video.. best I've seen on this model so far. Thank you.😊 Fully agree regarding improving the infrastructure for bicycles. That said, your ride seemed to have nicer cycle paths than most of GB. Well done Eire! Hope to get a R&M Charger 4 as live out in the sticks and am post double lung transplant.

    Great video. I am browsing Greenaer at the moment. I am thinking of swapping out the car for one of these. I only have a 20km round trip for work.

    I'm really impressed by this bike. I weigh about 105kg, but so far (1000km in), I'm using roughly 0.8% of battery per km. My last ride was 52km and I had 60% left, the one before that was 30km and I had 73% left, even though I was riding into pretty serious headwind for 15 of those kilometers or so.

    Very long distance 🎉🎉 There is a biker in Taiwan who tested out a brand new Merida Espresso 600 eq, went for 160+km and when he reached to his destination, he still have 5-6% left. Riese & Müller Supercharger 4 is a superior bike than Merida, so it is believable.

    I just bought last year's Charger 3 which has a 625 wh battery. Total range is estimated at 100 km but I'm assuming, based on your real-world test of the C4 that only in Eco mode. Still more than enough though and the C3 allows you to add a second battery which the C4 doesn't. Thanks for the review.

    • @evplatform
      @evplatform  Před rokem

      Yeah, I think you're right Christopher. There's so much to consider in terms of working out range: speed, terrain, mode, wind , etc. But as long as people understand that there is a variance then they can work it out. The C3 was a solid choice, well done! Thanks for the comment, and glad you enjoyed the video!

    Great review, what's your in car commute time? What about combining trams with ebike? Thanks!

    • @evplatform
      @evplatform  Před rokem

      That same trip would be 40 mins absolute best, but that includes paying about €5 on tolls. Leaving at a similar time as in this video, probably 1hr 15mins, and up to about 2 hours at rush hour! Best solution would probably be train to the city, but getting the bike on at rush hour could be an issue. Thanks for the comment!

  • @aklstreak
    @aklstreak Před 2 měsíci +1

    A 2x50km commute per day is simply unrealistic. That takes way too much time. I did a 2x10km commute, 6 days per week, for one and a half years. That went extremely well. Except for torrential downpours or temperatures below 8 degrees I used my ebike every day. Distance wise I could have managed 2x15km as well and I think the maximum for a realistic daily commute would be between 15 and 20km per day.

    • @evplatform
      @evplatform  Před měsícem

      Yeah, that sounds quite reasonable. I suppose it'll be different for everyone depending on fitness, traffic, cost, safety, etc. Thanks for the comment!

    Hi, Great video. I want to swith my old bike for something like this. Could you tell me how does this "belt" behavior in winter. I dont know what is better belt oraz chain. I drive to work all year and this is very imprtant info for me. Can you help to make a right decision?

      @evplatform  Před 4 měsíci +1

    I love the features on this bike, but it's too expensive for what it can accomplish. For that same money you can buy a Vespa. A Vespa will give you 70 miles/gallon, and you can do 50+miles/ hours, no problem. A bike like this will need to be around $3000 to make sense. There are "lower end" e-bikes you can get below $3000, I know. Reise and Muller needs to be cheeper for me to consider....

    Surprising range. Not sure I quite believe it unless you did most of the work. It would be a more telling test if it was the kind that could run with pedal power.

    • @evplatform
      @evplatform  Před rokem

      I definitely did not do most of the work. It was just above 20 degrees Celsius and I didn't break a bead of sweat! I was also very pleasantly surprised with the range. You should take one out for a test some time to experience it!

    • @DanFrederiksen
      @DanFrederiksen Před rokem

      @@evplatform You were doing 20km/h? that's a fairly casual speed that a person can pedal without sweating. say you did 50% of the work, that's very significant for range. Only a pedal free test can be really telling unless your input can be measured.

    • @myopenmind527
      @myopenmind527 Před rokem

      Range is accurate. If in doubt get a second battery which is available on most of the Riese& Müller range.
      I have a SuperDelite. You could look at the Homage or the Nevo3 which are both perfectly good alternatives. These are the best ebikes that you’ll find out there wrt equipment, comfort, quality and durability.

    • @myopenmind527
      @myopenmind527 Před rokem +1

      @@DanFrederiksen the Bosch software will tell you how much work you put in and how much was the motor across your journey.
      I typically like to get my heart rate up to 150-160 but you can use the Turbo mode if you want a more sedate ride.
      Once you ride one of these ebikes you want to ride all day, it’s that much fun!!

    • @raftermanhoward1883
      @raftermanhoward1883 Před rokem

      @@DanFrederiksen I have this bike, he definitely did not do half of the work. I use the eco setting (lowest out of 4) almost 70% of the time, and IMO, if you're in tour (2nd level) or above, you're not doing much, unless you're facing terrible headwinds. He also used a lot more battery than I do on average. In days with low winds, 2bft or less, I can easily reach 130km on one charge. I'm 1000km in and haven't even used the turbo setting so far, and even sport I've only used for 24km so far, and that was during an awful storm where I had to ride against a 6bft wind with no cover, and the bike still made it possible to go 23/24kmh without having to resort to the highest support level.
