I’m so grateful for the opportunity to be on another beautiful Scott Bradlee arrangement. The PMJ community is such a unique thing to be a part of, and I really really cherish it. I loved being among these talented musicians, hearing them work their magic on this song. This is such a timeless tune, and I vividly remember singing it over and over again while riding my bike through Yosemite National Park as a little girl. I got to meet Peter Asher and his wife years ago too, so it’s really bittersweet to tie it all back together here with all of you. Thank you thank you thank you 🌹

Sir Paul McCartney wrote this for Peter Asher. Sir Paul was dating Peter's sister at the time.
Another way of saying he sold it to Peter and Gordon. Great business acumen that Paul.
@@e32b61 He gave the song to Peter, although he made plenty on the royalties. He was living with Jane and Peter in their parents' home in London and was pretty much "family". He and John wrote many of the Beatles classics in the Asher's home. Jane's mother was a classical musican and he learned a lot from her. Peter does a weekly show on SiriusXM radio on the Beatles Channel, and certainly speaks highly of Sir Paul.
One song was probably enough to set him up for life lol

Mikhailovna is a patronym in Russian, it just means her father's name is Mikhail. Russian names consist of a first name, patronym and surname. She uses her first name and a patronym as a nickname. As for her surname, we don't have it. So we can't possibly say "Miss Mikhailovna".

Paul McCartney had a solid grounding in the music of the previous generation, which is probably why he often writes melodies that work well in this format (even the ones that weren't explicitly designed to harken back to that style - such as "When I'm Sixty-Four").
You're absolutely right. The Beatles were in their teens by the time they heard their first rock and roll records which why they got exposed to other styles. Paul wrote "When I'm Sixty-Four" when he was 17 back in the 50s.
He's also done his own jazz stuff from this era too. He would be tickled pink, because they really changed this version up. That Bosendorfer is noice on the light-touch notes.

I am a huge fan. I cannot make it to concerts, so thank you very much, for the videos; there is exponential added value (for me) in video. While I cannot get to concerts, I can buy a DVD. It would be fantastic to get a "best of" DVD of a tour. Thanks, again, for making life more enjoyable.
