The electrifying Nashville singing bassist Wild Bill takes center stage -- with his trusty bass fiddle -- in this ragtime-meets-rockabilly country / western remake of The Bee Gees' classic, “Stayin’ Alive" (from the 1977 film, 'Saturday Night Fever.')

Singing on key, dancing, and twirling around an instrument bigger than you are, all at the same time. Guy has serious talent!
Do you ever wonder where PMJ gets visiting musicians and singers? I do!
@@anomymouse5043 def not from america's got talent
A lot of hard work went into learning to do those things. People say it's talent, I wish I could do that, blah blah blah. You can, you just have to have the passion to do it day in and day out for years. It's hard work like every other art. Everyone has the ability, but not everyone has the will to spend the time necessary to reach that level. I hate the word talent. People use it like that person has a cheat code. Nope. They were just willing to put in the work.
Anything, but he obviously use a double bass as a percussion
Probably practice more than talent. I get the feeling that this isn't his first day at the office. 😅
The Bee Gees did a great cover of this.
Their vocal harmonizing will never be replicated. Too bad we don't know what we've got 'til it's gone.
That comment wins the Internet today!🎉😅😅
Waiting someone to whosh this
Never much liked the original. Changed my mind now.
Great, come on it was pretty much so so
Wild Bill and Roger the Drummer played at my kid’s wedding 15 months ago. Pretty sure nobody has stopped dancing yet!
And absolutely the nicest guys in the world, too. Could not be happier to see this performance blowing up!
That is so awesome!!
If I hadn't already married the PERFECT woman (more than 3 decades ago)...I'd be jealous.
Wow that’s awesome 👏
Dude!
This really sounds like this would be the original that the Bee Gees got their inspiration for the disco version from. I love every second of this.
This is the exact type of supremely fun and unexpected genre twisting that I depend on PMJ for! Great rendition!
It's difficult to not like these more than the originals if you enjoy jazz. Scott's arrangements are spectacular.
Wait; this can't be PMJ! I clearly can see the drummer. (Seriously thank you Scott Bradlee!!!)
I never knew what I liked about PMJ. Genre twisting is a good term. One that occurs to me is genre, weaving.
I enjoyed this rendition and the showmanship. This man played the hell out of his bass and put on a great show - love that!
BTW - Adore Scott's many efforts and arrangements over the years, and the fine piano man here, so get the sticks outta ya behinds, people... Diversity in Jazz is what makes the range of this music great. The grin and bounce in my step that this video has given me may last the whole day. 😂
Absolutely sick one-take with that dance! So many things could have gone wrong but they all went right.
_"I can play the Guitar behind my hea-"_
_Yeah, cool. _*_Now do it with a Double Bass!_*
There's already damage on the bottom of the bass when the video started, so it looks like something did go wrong during a different take.
@@ShayTheValiant
Nah, the damage seems consistent with his apparent habit of riding it like a hobby horse.
Everything went right on THIS take x)
@@ShayTheValiantthat’s Wild Bill’s personal double bass. That “damage” is wear and tear over the years of riding the base like a bucking Bronco. This video is actually pretty tame compared to his live stage performances 🤣
The rythm of this cover is still valid to perform CPR, in case someone just wants a fresher and more modern soundtrack during cardiorespiratory failure
thank you frien. this tip saved my life.
genius.
Yeah, but this version doesn't contain the greatness of Vinnie Jones
Good to know. I smell toast.... is that bad?
how many beats an hour ?
The drummer is maximum chill. Not just a musical performance, it's a life lesson.
I was most impressed by the piano... Listen to it again, to appreciate his skill!
@@vincentrobinette1507
Uhm...
You understand that liking the one in no way precludes an appreciation for the other?
It's not a contest.
One of the coolest performances I've seen in a while!
Saw him live in Nashville 2 weeks ago, pretty cool performance
I play upright bass; rockabilly, gospel, bluegrass. I am speechless. That was the most amazing cover EVER recorded!
I rank this performance right up there with the 'Dead South' video of "In Hell I'll Be In Good Company"...
@@coinneachmaclellan3121This is Way Better than that. But, I dig it. ✌️🌺
He doesn't play Bass. Bass plays him. WOW. No gym membership required 🌺
It's kind of like musical cross dressing...in a similar vein, check out Dwight Yoakum's rockabilly version of the Motown classic, "The Locomotion"...
@@coinneachmaclellan3121 except that's a 'cello.
I can't describe the feeling this song ignites in me. I'm not like a big rockabilly nerd or even a Bee Gees fan, but there's something so special about this cover I can't describe
I've been humming this tune in this rhythm for years!
Scott Bradlee doesn't get enough credit for these awesome covers
He keeps finding amazing vocalists too!
Amen to that! Big fan of Scott's work.❤
what would be better than millions of viewers???
The man got that bass ❤
"It's all about da' bass"!
@@vincentrobinette1507 dMN RIGHT!
Singing, playing and dancing all at the same time, with some crazy tricks thrown in! Love it! Wild Bill sure earnt his name. What a blast! 😊
Every rockabilly bassist does the same tricks. It's par the course.
I need more Wild Bill in my life. Why is there not a channel dedicated to just this. Rockabilly & rockabilly covers are basically all I want. this was amazing to watch & hear. More please.
Nick carren was old school rockabilly. Unfortunately he passed away to soon
Best PMJ number in a long time. Oldschool PMJ values, very interesting voice, and incredibly fitting arrangement that really massages the original song, Scott peaking at the piano. Standing slow clap.
Love how unfazed the other musicians were at the bass antics. Not even the slightest smirk, not even a glance exchanged. Classy, gents. 😏
professionalism
On the other hand he should've held off the antics while the piano was taking a lead.
@@pauldionne2884 Ah yes there it is. There's always a know-it-all in the comments section of every video, without fail.
Scott rarely looks up from his keys...I think he's in another world, a great world.
Never before have I seen a signature Hendrix move performed with a double bass. Impressed!
The best part...THE PIANO!! Very well played.
The best part... RIDING THE BASS at 1:35 😂
I have arrived in a parallel universe where Lemmy listened to his mum, became a respectable bassist and clean living bandleader 😂
Lovely tune!
You realize Lemmy also fronted the Head Cats, right? I was just wondering what their version of this would've sounded like
@@creamwobbly Yes, I am aware of HeadCat, which was cute, but … Lemmy, basically :)
LOVE IT!! Scott you are a genius! Wild Bill is an understatement! Love his energy! Great drummer as well!
I believe Roger Ross is actually a member of Wild Bill's band - The Bruisers. His bio is on their website (linked in the description).
The piano player was killing it! Drummer stayed in the pocket, for a 3 piece they are awesome!
I absolutely adored this rendition. No idea that the Bee Gees did so well as ragtime. Superb performance.
Not really ragtime, more swing. Ragtime is more piano, wild western, lookup Tom Brier.
the Bee Gees would be VERY proud of this!!!👍👍👍👍👏👏👏👏👏
The puff of exhaustion at the very end shows what this amazing musician put into this performance
I can say that's the most fun I've ever seen anyone have with a bass fiddle! 😄❤️
I'm imagining a james bond type of action scene in a dimly lit jazz club where the band plays this as the hero makes his way through the various henchmen
..., decapitating them with his upright bass
...and walked away as if nothing had happened
Being an old fart and witnessing the birth of this song I thought "oh no, not another hack job on a classic tune".....Wrong, this rocks! Love it.
PMJ and Scott Bradlee never do a hack job! I don't think Scott us even capable of that. He's brilliant!
My friend, almost my brother "IsiRockin" played double bass and sang. He also did slap and danced with the double bass. He passed away a couple of years ago and would be pleased to see this great performance.
This song fits this style PERFECTLY
Damn, this Bill guy sure is wild
he's a dancing man and he just can't lose!
For the first time I see not only a perfectly singing bass player, but also a virtuoso dancing one. Incredible sense of humor and talent of all these amazing musicians!
You must see the great singer Óscar D'León, surely you will like him.
Watching Scott's foot is better than listening a metronome. Another greath job guys!
So fun! Do more rockabilly, please.
I am stupified at Scott Bradley's piano talent. I assume he composed the arrangement of this great track which suits this drum style and a great bass performance. but, and it is a big but the piano break at 1.30 is entrancing, eloquent and sublime. Fan-bloody-tastic!
Well I reckon that's the most exciting upright bass fiddler I've seen in these parts of town.
This performance is PERFECT on so many levels!
Ok, this is FIRE 🔥 Incredible voice, incredible music, incredible playfulness
So incredible that every note/tap/slide you see played is exactly what you hear. I mean, you can even hear the sound it makes when he spins that bass around. Amazing live take. Super talented.
Love, love, love ❤️ this new rendition. Fabulous job.😊
This is amazing! Bill has the most amazing personality. I feel like he HAS to look good in a cowboy hat.
Thank you PMJ for sharing . Wild Bill you are amazing !!!!!!!!!!
I love how the drummer is completely unfazed throughout but then at the very end he looks into the camera like “Can you guys believe this!?!?!?” 😂
Какое-то запредельные навыки, артистизм и лёгкость. Чистый восторг 🔥
This is, without a doubt, one of THE most-excellent covers in the history of covers! Musical genius, stellar vocals and talent. 🖖🫶👏
Agree. What make this a MASTERPIECE is that not only they are great doing that, but they are all having fun doing this.
Spectacular cover‼️‼️❤️ Watched it twice and doubtless there will be many more times.
It's not easy to top an original hit but this was a very refreshing version they made their own. It's obvious the singer has paid his dues with his smooth and on pitch vocals.
So this is what happens when the manager of a southern music store has to leave for the day. Truly awesome.
What is not to LOVE about this! Utter GENIUS! 🔥👌🕶️🕺🏼
Hiya TC!!
@@KentuckyGinger KENTUCKY! ❤️ How's you?
I have to admit, the BeeGees version of this song never did much for me, but this is like.... What it always should have been. So catchy!
That double bass player has REAL skill!
great to listen to and to watch!!
Wild Bill!!! Not only can he play and DANCE WITH a double bass like nobody else I've ever seen, he can SING!! This entire video is incredible ^_^
Oh, I love that song!
First I was afraid, I was petrified...
Best thing I've seen all year.
Can you still resuscitate somebody to that beat though?! 😂 Amazing version!! Love it!!
Magnificent! All 3 cats brought it, nailed it, killed it, and then brought it back again like a phoenix rising. Bravo gentlemen!!!
I love how, no matter what antics Wild Bill pulls, the other two guys are totally unfazed. 😂
70s baby, grew up in the 80s, THIS is what heaven on a jukebox must sound like. Thanks again PMJ!! ❤🎉❤
👍✌️ Спасибо, шикарное исполнение песни ❤❤❤
Speechless...this is genius! This is how a cover should be: as original as the original.
Incredibly entertaining and talented! Wild Bill surprised me with his voice, dance moves, musical talent, bass tricks, and overall stage-presence! 🤠 More please!❤
I was never a fan of this song TILL NOW , now that you guys did this creative take on it love it ,
Incroyable !! Ce qu'il fait avec sa contrebasse,en plus il chante, danse et fait le fou!!Quelle indépendance et quelle maîtrise il faut !!
J'ai du mal à jouer et respirer en même temps !!
Definitely one of your coolest covers yet! Infectious energy!
It was definately All about the Bass with this one!!! Loved it.
This is the best thing I've seen all year!
Never fails the PMJ makes me smile~
omg I love this so much. A bassist who sings - AND dances - WHILE playing bass! ! !
Wild Bill knew PMJ fans are always craving more insane talent and had to hit us with those moves
And that's called Kicking Ass, my friends. 💐💐💐😃🤗🥰
Wild Bill, you made my day!
Come for the 'Saturday Night Fever' nostalgia, stay for the impressive upright bass trick shots at 1:33!
Get it on the new PMJ album here: www.pmjlive.com/thefourthtuning
yes, the upright bass tricks were unexpected and wild!! Bravo !!
You don't have it on CZcams Music? I searched, and only this cut comes up.
What an awesome rendition!
Sensational! ❤
Surely it’s a sit-down bass…
Upright bass seems a little formal,....I have always liked "bull fiddle" for the times the musician "goes off" on it!! That was one of those times!! The guy tickling the ivorys lets fly in this rendition too! All this mayhem held together by rock solid beat from the percussion section! Well done gang!
And, as always, thanks for the really high production standards that we couldn't enjoy this channel without!
Thanks again to the whole team that puts these things together!
Thank you Wild Bill and PMJ!!! That was good for the soul 🎉
Без лишних слов - просто здорово.
This isn't just a cover. It's a whole comforter.
That is the first time that I actually could listen and like this song. Great job.
очень крутые повороты МИСТЕР БРЕДЛИ мое сердце может не выдержать ВАШЕГО ТВОРЧЕСТВА БРАВИССИМО
Beautiful big violin!👍🥁❤️🎶🎵
this cover goes HARD
holy crap, i love it so much!!
Великолепно! Стёб над оригиналом отличный! Солисту отдельную премию. Вот что значит человек живет музыкой. Коллективу дальнейших успехов!
а второй кавер с ним видел на этом канале? там вообще вне конкуренции) Du Du du както так называется
What an absolute scream! Brilliantly musical, entertaining, funny and skillful. Love it 😍
Потрясающе!!!
Beyond awesome ❤
WEll, I must say, That, I, for one, personally, like this arrangement of the song , 10,000 times more than the disco one. This is most enjoyable and so much better then the original. I could listen to this all day long. Thank You for sharing this great song!
I was a disco dancin’ fool when Saturday Night Fever came out! This is so fun and well done, I LOVE it!
How these PMJ covers aren't ending up in movies is beyond me?
O Brother, Where Art Thou? is what I thought of when I saw this!
C'est génial, on est bien comme dans le livre de la jungle❤
Ah! Bringing back the old fun of PMJ! Excellent arrangement and really slick breakdown Scott! Wild Bills a keeper!!
Say them in concert last month, great fun! Proving that a good song can be translated into a different genre and sound good.
I disagree that this was a good song. Annoying disco drivel! This version is interesting and entertaining.
Frikkin, toe tappin, ass shakin' stayin' alive, Wild Billness MMMMMAGIC!!🎵🎙🎶🎹🥁❤️
Excellent, might pick this for my funeral 🏴
Amazing. This is even better than the original.
Not really but sure is good
A classic PMJ - beautiful re-rendition with amazing talent. It is often said that one should be so proficient and familiar with your tools, instruments etc that they're like an extension of your own limbs. Wild Bill clearly demonstrated that level of proficiency and familiarity with his double bass - even playing just fine while doing 'em stunts. This vid just made my YT favs list~
These dudes are having WAY too much fun! 😅
Beautiful performance
Loved the energy!
Please keep up with this string of covering classic songs!
Incredible. Loved the wobble legs!
The pianist's leg hypnotized me XD
it's actually amusing to see in times of AI, Melodynes and other software an dude who's actually passionate for what he's doing and being damn good at it. Long live PMJ and all perormers, guest stars and one time show-ers :)
