This is from the Andy Williams: Psychedelic Special from 1968. I love that La Cass was right on top of early Joni Mitchell. I Had A King had only been out for a few months on Joni's first LP. Beautiful version, too. Poor Cass, she never really fit in with the hippy rock scene and always seemed uncomfortable in the square TV world her managers were pushing her toward. If only she could have some time to breath and just sing. Love you Mama.
god she's so awesome. I will always be in love with her. she looks so sad at the end of the song. she holds her head down, and doesn't seem to want to look up.
Me too, she was quite something. Did you mean at the beginning of the song when she holds her head down? I noticed that was a bit strange as well. It could be she was just concentrating and getting into the zone for the song, although she was going through some tough times at that point. She was doing a lot of TV appearances that she didn't really want to do, because she had a lot of debt after her show in Vegas didn't work out, and she had to keep the money coming in. Who knows eh. A lovely and amazingly talented woman who left us far too soon.

I can only hope someone takes the initiative at some point and group all of her amazing TV performances into one release. There's at least 2 albums' worth of never before released material, potentially.
+Eran Edry Yes I agree with you..there's a lot of material out there that could be released..if we sum all her TV appearances and the probably unreleased studio material, alternate versions....Let's pray we have more luck with Cass' work than we had with M&Ps unreleased material, which there is none..Just added to my Favorites and my Cass Elliot & Friends playlist.
wow i never heard anyone but Joni sing this, i got her Song to a Seagull, Joni's 1st Lp 1968, wow i really like this version..
Actually I liked it better than Joni’s version. Cass was amazing at song interpretation. Sweet Believer and He’s a Runner are two good examples of her gift.

No, she's elbow singing... I jest :) no lip sync here. The vast majority of Cass' live television appearances during her solo career were all done live.
