Before going harsh on these people, bare in mind that they are trying to replicate the greatest comedy series ever which is near impossible and it was never gonna be as great as the original but despite having huge standards to live up to, they all did a fantastic job. Top marks to all of them I absolutely loved the show đ
Although this is the second greatest comedy series of all time, I think that the greatest comedy series of all time is the young ones
I think people should defo watch it before judging it. It gets better and better as you do. It does also staple that they are character that are different rendition of the original. It's not a bad thing. We also go on an emotional journey as the character's can express themselves more clearly through song and some of them can touch your heart. This is my fav comedy of all time, so I was defo skeptical before going to watch it.

Saw this in London last year.........the whole cast did the original characters justice and the show has a brilliant atmosphere. Well worth a visit.

@@crs2385 OFAH really wasnât a show that cared about continuity. If it did the show would have ended after Mother Natureâs Son with Del, Rodney and Racquel all getting lengthy prison sentences for fraud and discharging poisonous matter into a public water supply.

I saw this show last night, and itâs the funniest show Iâve seen, absolutely brilliant. I would recommend this to anyone. I did not stop laughing. The cast are fantastic

This is a musical guys itâs not going to be the same is it. They are trying and I give them respect for that. Yes it isnât what we all love on our tv from David Jason & Nicholas Lynhurst but thank you for bring back some amazing memories & bring me back to my childhood.
I say it's pretty damm close can't beat the original but it's just trying to use 95% of the original and then tweak 5% to make it work for a musical

Rodney spot on, Del could be better, trig sounds like a deeper version of boycie. Grandad spot on. I'd definetly go and see it. The whole cast has huge boots to fill. So around of applause for them all!
Fair play, my expectations were low but those actors did very well, to fill shoes in like that is huge so well done!

This is a piece of musical theatre! Everyone has a soft spot for the TV show we knew and loved, but for the stage you can't do things that way. They have tried to include the characters and some of the memorable lines but it's a little over two hours with songs limited time.
It's not a bad set of impressions... But it's not the same. It's a touch uncomfortable.

Paul is amazing as granda/uncle Albert! I cant understand the negativity? To me looks amazing! Its a group of talented people paying homage to the greatest tv show ever made! You can never beat the original but this looks like a good night out :)

I think the negativity mostly comes from the people who love the original series so much, they just put the nostalgia goggles on and misjudge this, because of how highly they hold the original. I mean, I am a major fan of the original Only Fools and Horses and it can't be topped, it's a classic, but I can't really discredit this show or the actors in it because of that. Again, the original can't be topped nor can any other interpretation come that close to it, the performances from the original actors are unique (therefore making the characters unique) and because of that, they are very hard if not impossible to recreate, but the effort is there. They're not copying them, but they are trying to hold on to the spirit the original had. The same can be said for the performance of the songs.
The humor is decent here, you can tell that Jim is genuinely trying to follow in his father's footsteps.
Paul looks and sounds brilliant as uncle Albert and grandad.
Funny how these arenât the same actors as the show but theyâre so good at imitating them we believe theyâre the characters. I guess because Del and his friends are so iconic in British TV history.
Just got back from the west end absolutely brilliant show itâs a tribute to the original and a nice trip down memory lane
I donât quite get all the negative comments. Itâs a musical, itâs not trying to be a continuation of the show, nor is it trying to succeed the show in any way. every man and his dog watching this will have seen every episode of the TV Series and all the specials dozens of times, nothing will beat it, itâs a national treasure. Just try and enjoy this for what it is, a light hearted tribute to the greatest comedy in our history.
It's a musical but it's absolutely dreadful, like a bad holiday camp reenactment, that's why it's getting so much negativity.

From what Iâve seen of this, itâs seems great and as a tribute to the greatest tv show thatâs ever graced our screen it seems one of the best to all the negative people who say itâs dreadful after watching this 5 minute clip, yes I get itâs not David Jason but it never was gonna be and no one can beat his role as Del itâs iconic and DJ made Del into a national treasure.
I watched it on Wednesday and it was fantastic, funny and a great laugh. They got so many funny bits Into the show. Well worth a watch.
When OFAH:TM was announced, I was like âNO NO NO NO NO!â Whilst I still think that no one can touch David Jason as Del Boy, Nicholas Lyndhurst as Rodney, Lennard Pierce as Grandad and Buster Merryfield as Albert, this wasnât half bad. I did find myself singing along to the words, and really enjoying it.
Love this musical, love Paul Whitehouse playing grandad, reminds me of his other character unlucky Alf from the fast show! Brill!
I booked to see this end of April just before Christmas for my mums birthday as she loves Only Fools and Horses. I hope the atmosphere is better at the actual theatre

I went, took the family... we all loved it. It may well just be "cashing in" but was thoroughly enjoyable night.
Saw this recently in London and I laughed as much as I did with the series.
I find it hard to believe that Paul Whitehouse is only a couple of years younger than Leonard Pearce was when he played grandad and a year younger than Buster when he started playing uncle Albert. Makes me feel old

@Stay Classy it doesn't have to be exactly like the show, but sticking to the main continuity points would be good for a start.
@Stay Classy other comments on this video have said that this is the o opening segment to the show, so yes, I can tell you otherwise. And yes I am fun at parties. Sorry for expressing an opinion on something that differs from your own. Being a long time fan of a show that's been around for decades, I have preconceptions of how I'd like it to be if I'm to enjoy it. Some of it doesn't seem to conform to that, therefore I don't have to enjoy it. If you enjoy it that's fine but don't jump down my throat for picking up on something that I find to be a fault with it compared to the original series.
@Stay Classy like I said to you, it doesn't have to be exact, yes I'd picked up on the cigarette case story but I could let that slide for the sake of artistic interpretation. Similarly with the back and forth between Rodney and Trigger, which was from the same episode when they're at the council meeting, which also never took place in the market. However grandad and Cassandra never met, so that grandad would be aware of her in this is just the artistic licence going too far in my opinion. Changing settings I can deal with, changing the history I don't like.

If everyone was here circle jerking each other over it then that would be no fun, would it? Do you prefer living in echo chambers? Anyway I was merely responding to the original commenter, you were the one that took it upon yourself to correct our opinions on this subjective matter. I went to see this show on Wednesday, It was amazing, I would gladly go again. The characters were played so well, just as good as on TV. One the best shows I have ever seen. The actors are superb.

Amazing how much he sounds like Rodney. Don't get the negative comments. Yes, it should be left alone but it hasn't. If it brings a new set of audiences to the show then good. It's the greatest British comedy.

The characters of only fools are so iconic that if you get their voices out just a little bit then it stands out a mile. If they are charging people x amount of money to go see them then it needed to be better.

G D JONES did you not enjoy the full show? Did you go on the first night, or did you go after it had been presented a few times. I was told that got better as time went on, certainly on the 5th night that I went anyway it was quite good.
I actually thought it was quite well produced to be honest. They certainly wrote some good songs, and I thought the acting was pretty good throughout. The cast were huge, much more than you saw here.

If that was supposed to reference to Cash and Curry, that last bit was wrong. Tied to the fact that a huge number of people hated the musical, the joke fell flat.
I do agree in a way that some things should be left as originals but in my opinion, it works, and it just brings it back for people, I thought they pulled off the characters very well!! đđ»

Throwaway comment for anyone whos reading, I've seen this in the west end and this is the opening scenes of OFAH The Musical and its not great, but around 15 minutes into the show it really gets going and is a right laugh! - The Online Dating Musical Scene had me in stitches!

This really wasn't that bad as far as tributes and impressions go. They clearly put in a fair amount of effort to make them look and sound like the characters which is nice.
BBC, please release a full boxset of the original series and all the specials completely uncut. The show is long overdue a full uncut release.

@@akashrathour3441 Unfortunately all current releases of the show, be it DVD, VHS or digital have been heavily edited. Whole scenes are missing from some episodes, lines have been edited out, jokes have been censored, some lines have been cut and haven't been seen/heard by viewers since the original broadcast in the 80s. Licensed music has been replaced with uninspired stock music. Scenes were cut out or chopped down before broadcast to fit a TV timeslot.
What OFAH fans want is a full boxset release of every episode, completely uncut as it was originally intended to be broadcast without any timeslot restraints, with no censorship or missing scenes/dialog and original music restored.

@@akashrathour3441 Furthermore, one episode (Sickness and in Wealth) on one of the DVD releases actually has 9 minutes of extra footage which has never been broadcast even on TV nor is present on any other release. This was apparently released by accident and it was the cut version which they meant to release. This indicates that there might be lots more scenes which were removed before original broadcast that were cut simply to chop down the length of the episodes to fit an arbitrary TV slot, and not for editorial reasons. It would be great if the BBC could release the full episodes with any scenes or lines that were removed for this reason.
Zanzibar, you are right i got rid of my original copies and got a box set. I noticed there were some scenes actually missing like in miami twice. There is a scene when del and rodney chat to the mafia before they break into tbe camper van.

It was actually after he had been put on to David (after everyone else turned it down/ couldn't do it) so he watched some of his stuff. In an episode of open all hours Granville pretends to be a jack the lad in front of the mirror, he had a fake necklace pennant made from a cocoa tin lid and a wide open shirt. Sullivan apparently saw it and knew that was the actor and how he imagined del being. That's from the "making of" DVD anyway, may not be true.

Why are people ao mad about this i loved it nothing will ever compare to the actual show but comeone no can say that when the charcters spoke you didnt think about how good the show was cause thats what its doing the musical is bringing the tv show back to life and i love this for that
