Thank you! I missed my opportunity for DSR passes this year. Maybe I'll do an afternoon jaunt one day for fun. I can usually get an afternoon pass easily and have found that to be some of the best fishing I've had.

Hello sir, one item that I've been super impressed with is your responses to the comments. It sure helped me and made me want to come back. One thing I've thought about doing is TikTok shorts. Have you thought about doing that as well? Maybe just do some flies and speed up the timeline just to show those more advance users your technique and process but maybe not every detail like the flytying tutorials that you do. I enjoy your channel much more than like the Fly Fish Food guys, even though I've been to their fly shop in person. Frankly, they seemed stuck up and I get a very humble and real vibe from you. Even this video with your family is relatable as a content consumer. Anyways, best of luck. Being empty nester is amazing. I go to some of the best waters in the west every weekend thanks to my lively wife's support and would highly recommend the same for you guys.
Thank you so much! I hope the channel feels authentic because it comes from who I am at heart! I appreciate that you feel that way about it! My kids and wife have been pushing me to do shorts on Tik Tok and IG. I don't even have Tik Tok 😂 I've done a few IG Reels and a few CZcams Shorts.
@@WhiteDogTrailCompany I mean, I'd follow you on TikTok. I do feel there is a demand for it (there is so little content for fly fishing on there). I don't know about monetization on it but if people can make a living sleeping through annoying sounds, I'm sure flytying would be successful.

You're going about it exactly the right way Brian. Grab every second you can with the kids. You see and feel it changing as they grow but all the while you're still immersed in the awesomeness of having those experiences with them. Seeing them learn your lessons, putting them to good and successful use. Just the warmth and joy when you bring back the memories of when that bear was on the trail or when that huge Brookie rolled right under the canoe and threw the hook. Or that Biblical Adirondack thunderstorm. And then it's over. And they're gone. Not gone but moved on. And those times are never coming back buddy. So yeah, the channel is great. Really is. and it will continue to be that, however it morphs, like all things do but don't miss a second with them now.

You had me at hello... Family, family, family; there is nothing more important. Thirty years ago, while playing hockey on a pond and then later that day, ice fishing that same pond that this would've have ever happened. I'm glad I've been along on this journey since the beginning. It's hard to believe that we live so close to each other but have yet to wet a line together these past few years. We will need to change that soon. I can't wait to see where this channel goes.
I know you know! Family is definitely most important! I remember as a kid while fishing the local creek, thinking that I could catch enough fish to make a fishing show 😂😂😂 Who knew I would do this though... I certainly didn't! And I still play hockey and fish!!! LOL Some things never change! We do have to get out and fish!

Cheers to the future!! I recently took a job with some travel perks. It's been a great change for me and helps to curb the wanderlust that I often feel (it also helps that I get to bring my fishing pole with me for after hours exploration)! PS..I really want a trucker hat!

I just started watching you a couple of months ago and I have had the best fishing season of my life, at 53. Thanks for everything. Quick question. Why even use Nymph/Fly Line. Why not just spool up with Mono or #20 backing?
That's awesome! I love to hear stories like yours! 🙂 The only reason I've found that I like fly line is that it is a bit easier to handle with your hands when managing line (easier to hold on to). Having said that, I now keep my fly line on my reel and only use the 12# mono in my rod guides and in my hands so I obviously haven't found it important enough to change what I'm doing 😂
Travel early in your life while you can still climb the mountains and wade in the streams. Don’t wait until you are older and can only climb small hills
Look into an Oliver travel trailer( a true 4 season camper) to take you into the wild places.
Sweet and that's the idea! My wife and I are trying to stay young, active and healthy so we can enjoy our time! We are thinking maybe van life travels or something similar in the future.
