...The video where I show how I made my awesome helmet mod!
I use the chemion-glasses to create kinda the same look like "wrench" from the game Watch Dogs 2.
I would not recommend using this everyday because it does reduce your vision a little bit. (More in the dark than during the day it should be noted.) This is more of a showpiece.

We sort of have that currently but it's pretty rough.
I love this. But instead of my visor, Im gonna put it on the visor on my bike. Give my bike some personality.

@@MrDrakenhoff ayeeee
hey me again ;)
it took some time (and a fucking heart attack because i shorted the battery wire, nothing broke luckily)
But i finished mine :D
i have a "normal" helmet with a black visor, and i don't even notice the board inside the visor, road visibility is perfect!
i did end up covering the back of the board with electrical tape to make the inside of the helmet less distracting.
To anyone who thinks of trying this for themselves go for it! I've had never soldered something in my life and even I've got it to work.
And thanks again for making this video!
RB_Dash amazing! Congrats man! Glad i could help ;)

+1 heart for the kind words! Thanks :)
Pro tip number 1: buy a 2032/ 3v battery housing and you can use solder it and use a coin/ button 3v battery 👍👍👍
Pro tip number 2:
Glue this onto a retractable internal sun visor and simply flip it on or off (the visor not the power switch)
The 2032 batteries would be a lot easier to fit I guess.. 🤔🤔 Thanks mate 😁✌️
Does Tip 2 limit its visibility in any way? Like can someone still see the leds as good as on the visor?
I don't know who you are, but i subbed lol
Great work mate
Thanks! I appreciate it 😊
Add a lightmode kit to that lid, and it would look epic! Thanks for the video, gonna have to give this a go!
Never been a big fan of the lightmode-kits, but I do appreciate them. Thanks man :D
Not gonna make one but I find it cool, and you're the first one I see, so well done for the idea. There was a helmet in the past supposed to have cats eyes, I don't know if it has ever been released, but this could make a good little business with many potential customers.
Thanks mate! Appreciate it!
Curve Ahead I made one
I've personally done this mod for my own helmet (I use it to ride my electric skateboard), and this is what I've found
- Definitely use thicker wires. I used the stock wiring for a while and I'd find it so finicky and also too short to do anything with. Get some 22 gauge wire with some decent insulation and solder on enough length to tuck them somewhere comfortable. My helmet has a battery light on the back, so there's room for a pocket, so I've tucked them there
-Use two single AAA cradles. I've tried a double AAA cradle to save on complexity, but all it did was fail to power the visor and heat up the components to no end (Can someone explain this to me? I can't find useful resources)
-Make sure your solders are good. Obviously it's good practice for any electronics project, but for something like this where it's jostling around a bit, anything goes, so if you're splicing wires together, give them some good tugs before insulating them with heat shrink to make sure they're not gonna come apart on you
-Don't use tape to adhere it to the visor. I've tried packing tape, gorilla tape, duct tape, nothing adheres. I know they've posted a video about how they've actually stuck it to the visor, but me personally, I drilled two little holes in my visor small enough to literally screw the LED's to the visor. Obviously there's less destructive manners, but I was short on parts and found some spare screws lying around that fit perfectly between the eye gaps
((Most likely)) You are having a heat issue because the double AAA cradle is running the batteries into "Series" meaning it is doubling to voltage, not the amperage. The "two single AAA cradles" means you likely had it wired in parallel, which was doubling the available amperage which is what makes your device run longer, instead of doubling the voltage and stressing the circuitry.
A great video and what a blast. It's a great idea and looks great also. Thanks for taking the time to make the video, it's much appreciated and also very well done. Cheers and big thumbs up.
Thank you so much!
So that’s what your face looks like! Haha great video man. I might give this a try!
Ronald Finger it is indeed! Looking forward to seeing the results ;)
Made mine today! Got some wire from the shop. the original was quit short for my helmet. the Batterie packs fit pretty nice in the spot where you are supposed to fit the speaker for a SENA.
When someone watches this who hasnt done these yet.Dont worry, the LED wont die incase you switch + and -. trust me (Dumbass me testet this) they just wont turn on. Nearly got a heartattack but saw it, just switched it and it worked again
Just finished mine about a week ago. So thanks for the how to vid. I got a different version; it came with a rechargeable battery. I managed to take one of the sunglass arms and run it along the side of the helmet so it looks like it's apart of the BT device. Here's hoping for RGB leds in the near future.
Ace O'spadey awesome! What version did you get? Another brand or have Chemion actually upgraded their model? RGB would be sick as well 🙏
@@MrDrakenhoff I actually got a Chinese knock off. Only paid about $16US. Also as far as the mounting I'm gonna try some clear double sided tape.
Alternatively you could just wear those glasses under your helmet for the same effect.
I don't think it would work the same when 5 cm away from the visor.
I did try this and there were a few problems with this:
1. The glasses "arm" are super thick because it's housing the batteries. Unless you have a very uniquely shaped or too large of a helmet, I can't see how they would be able to fit.
2. The LEDs cause a reflection inside of the visor. The further away from the visor, the more noticeable the reflection from the LEDs would be.
(SIDENOTE: Note that the helmet that I've currently installed this in is the "Icon Variant". This particular model has a lot longer front to back than your average helmet.)
If you manage to work around those two things I just mentioned, then yes. It would almost look the same.
Thanks for watching :)
@@MrDrakenhoff I mean it does look cool don't get me wrong, I like it, but I'm not sure I'm willing to give up peripheral vision for it. Can you see ok through that?
@@KingKiavash No worries mate. ✌️ I can see through it, but it's compromising my vision. It's not something I can recommend, riding while having this installed. It's only meant for show. 😉👍
Did you try just sliding them on when the visor was open? I bet you were trying to put the helmet on over the glasses?
Thank you so much for sharing this How To! Wanting to give it a try, hope all goes well.
Cool! I'd love to see the result ^^
"How did you make it dude??"
"Bought it man."
Well yes😅 ..with some slight modification added as well ✌️
U can alway just take the visor of then stick broad to it to avoid awkward sliding it thought the neck hole
Visors tend to unbend if you take them off so its better if you leave it on to glue it perfect.
also i've stipped the screws that holds the visor unfortunately :()
Hey, what screwdriver did you use to take out the screws to the Chemion glasses?
3M VHB tape may work to hold the board in place. Much stronger than the velcro tape.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but then it would be non-removeable, right?
Accidently bumped into your videos as I was looking for what I could do with my helmet. Thumb nail caught my attention as that's actually where I work lol

@@atirion Awesome!
Yo so what’s the visibility line when wearing it?
I don't ride while wearing them. It's possible, but you would compromise a lot your vision. I DON'T recommend riding with these. Also, thanks for watching :)
@@MrDrakenhoff what if they are off
@@Smelyn The pcb board is really what is compromising the vision, not the LED's themselves. So it will basicly be the same if the LEDs are on or off
Riding with this helmet will get you in trouble with the police real fast, regardless what country you are in. It obstructs your field of view way too much. As already stated, really not recommended to drive around like this.
@@MrDrakenhoff I'd have to disagree. Lights inside the helmet will reflect back into the eyes especially at night.
I have a custom helmet light using an LED that sits just above my left temple. Without properly designing the LED tube, it would reflect into my eyes with the visor down.
now imagine hooking this up to your dirt bike goggles...
If I had some I would!
Miguel Suministrado I may do that, I have a dirt bike helmet, all I need are the glasses and the goggles, I'm a passenger anyways

Both! Well.. I mean... yeah 😂
Sorry blocking sight is dumb , you are to busy acting cool , think please its a good gimic but a bad and dangerous Idea
@@papichulio1 well yes, wearing this while riding is just stupid! It is meant for showing of but not while riding :)
Both. Haha. But still cool.
Mr.Drakenhoff, it’d be neat if you could figure out how to arrange it/package it so that it all sat on a mirrored visor, so that it was an easy swap out when you’re not riding. If it’s two AAA batteries (1.5v ea), you might be able to get away with a single, smaller LiPO battery (3.7v) running to both power connections, and mount that to the visor underneath the LEDs.
Hey I personally have a pinlock visor but i dont think it will fit between it.
Thanks! I'll still look into it, but I kinda doubt it myself too.. Thanks for watching! :)
dude awesome tutorial!
can you give the dimensions of the whole circuit board? I'm trying to figure out if it'll fit before i order the glasses.
EDIT: found it in chemion's website
glassss height is 5,5cm, circuit board might be a bit smaller but I've got the info i need.
thanks again, I'm so making this! :D
RB_Dash thank you so much! Good luck 😄
Bro that's great!!! Grettings from Guadalajara 🇲🇽
Best diy video ever
Oh wow! Thanks 😊
I tried it with just the glasses and it looks cool but it’s too dangerous to be using because the light reflect off the visor.
There will be no reflection if you put it flush with the visor
Noobi-Wan Kenobi actually the closer it got to my visor the brighter it got and the less i could see. Its translucent if it’s a mirrored or smoked visor which means only some light can escape and the rest reflects back off that glass making it flush will just make it brighter.
definetly not meant to be riding with ;)
Okay, now i'm definitely gonna do this to my helmet
cool! did you do it?
This would work extremely well with the ruroc berserker helmet since you can detach the whole visor/goggles part of the helmet. You'd be able to switch visors to with or w/ LEDs pretty easily
Oh that would be a very interesting look i think! I'll have to look intro this Ruroc Helmet i think. Thanks for the info mate!
Don’t look into ruroc trust me worst helmet ever!

So if I need regular glasses to correct my eyesight then I guess I can't use this.
Dandy Dude shouldn't be a problem, but it depends how much space you've got inside your helmet 😃

doesnt the light reflect to the inside of ur visor? and will the visibility be a problem when its in your line of sight? (great vid just ordered the glasses to) :)
Ey, cool man! Line of sight is not perfect with this "mod". The helmet that I used had quite a large visor, so I could kinda see above the lights itself. I've ridden with them once or twice and wouldn't really recommend it :P Reflection wont be very noticeable depending on how close to the visor you get the leds. I'd love to see your result if you give it a go, shoot me a pic over at IG ;)

it is very suitable to use at night and different from all ... greetings to me from Indonesia
Anyone used this on a non tinted helmet? Of course it would be super visible but I would only use at night when riding.
I'll just pop in here and recommend that you shouldn't ride with these. They do block your vision quite a bit. That being said I guess you'll do what you want 😜

Transparent OLED screens are transparent and a lot thinner, and maybe more expensive (it's smokey tho, still dangerous when applied in clear visor and riding at night since the lights are better at night)
Ranjit Lafeguera very true! 👌 something better than this will probably exist in the future 🤗
At 2:30 you recommended to use gloves if you wan´t to be extra careful, but than you use some blue Latex gloves O.o. If you wan´t to protect the Circuit board you need an ESD glove. the Latex one may do more damage than using your bare hands.
That I didn't know.. thanks!
Why?
UK riders wouldn't be able to use these. It would be classed as an obstruction to your vision. Also not allowed shaded visors.

Same here in Portugal, I'm thinking about doing this but instead of placing it on the regular visor I'll place it on my helmets inner drop down sun visor, that way it can remain hidden when not in use.
@@The_FS13 yeh I figured the same. Best option rly if you want it.
why would you not remove the visor before trying to apply the velcro to the back side? it would have made that part about six thousand percent easier and more accurate.
*True!* But in my case the screws to unscrew the visor has been stripped. So I'm basically stuck with this visor forever.

As a side note, not sure if it's been said already. You could also take off the visor and paste the circuit board on it, then attach the visor back on the helmet and proceed with the rest of the process of hiding the wires etc. Makes for an easier time of getting the thing in place on the visor.
I will be doing this once I get my new helmet.
only if you have a spare visor. seriously.
Yeah I would do this had it not been the case that I stripped the screws that holds the visor in place. Ergo, I'm not able to remove this visor atm.

I wish I could do something like this, but I have to wear my glasses under my visor. So if I try to look up and over the LED board, my eyes would also be looking up and over my glasses, making it so I can't see unless I stop every so often to adjust them.
