The Mopar commercials were marvelous (especially the Road Runner spot... one of the clearest I've seen).

I have a portion of the broadcast, audio taped at the time of initial broadcast, so I'm glad that the entire special is available for viewing here.

Precious. How did you get these or did you record just about everything on a Betamax? Actually some of these may predate the VCR! Thanks for sharing! Pretty funny also. ~~ Frank

A 'celebration' of the new, and current iteration of MSG, an architectural piece of dreck (to this day) which replaced the lamented Penn Station, the nation's busiest, with an ugly hole in the ground. At the time, folks were bailing on NYC at an alarming rate. The reference to the garbage strike is another reminder of how powerful public employee unions were appeased, which continues to this day and is evidenced by the high cost of living in most major cities and elsewhere. Right after this show the country cracked open with the MLK and RFK assassinations and a very ugly presidential election. Not a time I would ever want to go back to, except for Hope and Crosby, who I miss dearly.
