The part at towards the end of the Companions Quest line when Kodlak dies always botheres me. How can the Silverhand just waltz into Whiterun and start a fight with the Companions when there are constantly Whiterun guards around?
Its possible they snuck in by pretending to be someone who wouldn't raise suspicions, paid off a crooked guard to slip in, or maybe some random guard is secretly a member and has been spying on them until the time was right.
@@That_Doctor_Del_Fella do you know how easily something like that could've been made a quest, like let's say you betray the companions and let the silver hand in. Or the companions know there might be a guard part of the silver hand and you have to spy on him or kill him, or you can overhear a conversation between a suspicious person and the guards and tell the companions. That would've greatly expanded the quest and made it so so much better
The same way a random wizard can challenge you to a duel in the middle of town and the guards do nothing? They don't get paid to interfere in other people's personal conflicts...
@@insertclevernamehere1186 I think a wizard battling someone means public/private property is going to get damaged. Fire these guards and hire new ones.
@@coronin8587
Yes, fire...
(Execute)
I think allowing healing spells is totally fine.
Same how else are you ment to stay alive
Yeah I don't see a problem with it. Like otherwise it would just be constant saves and reloads.
I mean... obviously try to get through things without healing. But do it where necessary
@@chunkyrunky9007 there's potions but spells make it harder because they're gradual not instant
Healing spells aren't the phantom sword only the phantom sword can be used
@@colbyreeves4824 but healing spells are fine still lol
Healing spells only matter if you're attacking someone with them
No, there's no challenge if you use them. They heal fast enough to keep you alive through strikes and that just makes the challenge a tank and spank. You watch for the difficulty not the easy shit.
@@tyt6600 The challenge refers to a weapon. Dealing damage. And, no, I don't watch it for the difficulty, I watch it for the entertainment value. Half the fun is problem solving. Failing because you refuse to heal yourself isn't fun, it's an avoidable loss for something that has nothing whatever to do with the challenge
Aren't you attacking your wounds with the power of healing?
@@boogliejooglie3700 Oh, shit. Good point... I still think healing should be allowed in Skyrim challenges, but I will now and forever refer to tending boo-boos as 'attacking wounds with the power of healing'. Thank you for that ^^
@@JezabelleAsa That response of you - on point IMHO. We're not watching this as if it was competitive speedrunning or whatever - IMHO (and apparently in other's too) it's all about the entertainment value, and it would have been very sad if he stopped "because he can't do it without heals". As I posted in another comment, whether or not this is a failed run is IMHO up to the viewer, and ultimately doesn't matter that much ; I just know I'd have been disappointed (and a bit sad) if Brandon stopped the first time the game opposed some resistance!
I laughed alot harder than I should've at Kodlak being called "Klondike"
A lot. Alot is not a word.
i read the title and thought that he meant the ghost blade
That’s what I thought
Me too.
Same
I also thought that.
Same.
My favorite part about your channel is the intro
Not sure if thats really a compliment lol
The intro is good tho
It's pretty good. I also really like the little jokes he makes by saying the wrong names. Klondike? Klondike!
Oh and the gaming too.
@@joeyw.4959 I don't see why not, there's no shut down to the comment and there could be different interpretations.
Everyone has a favourite part of the videos, even if you hate the videos, there's still always a part you at least hated a little less. This person seems to like the videos, and likes the intros, whether that's the tune and the logo, or the opening to the videos, it's still a compliment on how GOOSE has done a certain part of the video.
I came for the thumbnails... Stayed for the content, and the thumbnails
Okay, but:
*Can you beat the College of Winterhold using only shouts?*
It must be done
You can’t get in without casting a spell... so if we base the challange on getting in first then yes
@@gaffclant You can get in by demonstrating a shout if you get far enough in the main story.
Or just ymfah it and bucket your way in...
@@insertclevernamehere1186 can’t use buckets, copyright laws stop it
@@yourteacher1005 wooden plate, mayhaps?
If I had to give my two cents, I’d say that healing spells would be fine. They are just like potions, though I would say to keep the challenge challenging, just use the base healing spell you start the game with.
Yeah, I agree. Base healing spell cause every character you create has it.
Yes and only use it in dire situations
Like there's no way to get past dire
@It's Because agreed i find it better than fast healing and close wounds
9:42 "and the we fi- SEAT AT THE DAMN TABLE", like everyone who has ever done this quest EVER.
I think it definitely counts. If I were to play with only a bow and arrow and also heal myself sometimes, I would still say that I beat the game with only a bow and arrow. I think the same should apply here. Great vid as always, Goose!
That works I guess. But then again, I don't mind the stricter rules on challenges that allow it! Obviously this one does NOT - it would be a failed run without heals, and I'm glad Brandon didn't stop there!
@@cheaterman49 I can see that as well!
You should try to beat Skyrim on the switch using only the master sword, Hylian tunic and Hylian shield. They're not very good so it would be a bit of a challenge on master or legendary difficulty.
Probably no reason to, I imagine this a much more difficult challenge.
@@Sivanot who cares it will be interesting and entertaining and that is all that matters
afaik there actually equivalent to the elven or glass gear.
meaning it wouldn't actually be that bad of a challenge.
i wouldn't mind seeing it obvs, as it would be cool to see. but its not actually that difficult.. least not without master difficulty
@@The3dsstuff yeah I meant to add that it should be on a hard difficulty, sorry
Don’t they scale with your level until discovery up to being on par with glass weapons?
Oh i love bethesda. What should we do if we have a cutscene where the player needs empty hands? Make their weapon invisible? Temporarily unequip it? Teleport it behind the camera? Nope, fake sword.
You didn't _explicitly exclude_ the use of healing whilst in combat, so I'd say that's fine
Exactly. Base healing is a standard character spell regardless of what you play.
I would say healing is a pass. You didn't do damage or weaken enemies with it, so you still beat the challenge with whatever the task set out is.
I think healing spells are fine.
I still don’t know why the specific coffin thing that I assume is ygramor’s is in a cage. Like did they expect him to wake up as a very angry and powerful dragur or something
I assume grave robber prevention
@@AmaryInkawult That was my thought as well. As legendary as Ysgramor was there's no doubt any thief would love to make a profit off anything connected to him and the original companions.
@@That_Doctor_Del_Fella I mean Calixto has a _soupspoon_ in his museum that was presumably his... Buuuuuuuut seeing as it was with dwemer artifacts and the guy was a liar, chances are that thing was found nowhere near that tomb
Or perhaps it was in the castle, but I doubt he would be ballsy enough to sneak in there and sneak it out from a Jarl that could shout him out of a window.
This video goes good with Apple sauce
noot noot
This was super cool! Really different idea! Loved it!
Skyrim will never get old for me
Well, if this doesn't count because of healing spells, other runs wouldnt count because of healing potions, right?
So I say it counts
Running the main campaign over and over does not bore me because you always add a new twist!
" Farkas, Aela and the other dude", you re great dude i swear
Very cute thumbnail as always ! In fact, particularly cute this time ^^
He always makes the thumbnail cute :c
@C oon I somewhat doubt it, Goose is perfectly capable of drawing characters on his own.
@C oon Could you point to the exact drawing ?
and here i am, learning new stuff about this game even now. did not know there was a phantom sword.
Damn GOOSE just became baki's musashi miyamoto with his imaginary sword
You got a wolf and I got a Snow Bear. The city guards are slacking.
Hey Brandon, as usual gotta first admire your drawing skills :-) - and second, I'm not sure if it matters whether this was a failed run or not, given you demonstrated it's impossible (or close enough) without heals! So, either the answer is "yes but", or "no", but I'm certainly not complaining that you kept going, even less so after 2 days of you trying to think of a solution, impressive dedication that is IMHO :-) thanks for the great video, see you around!
I honestly think that your use of healing in this challenge was completely valid. Considering you only used the one time when you tried all other alternatives. Besides, this video was still really enjoyable and I loved it.
... Wow. Didn't expect the one thing that would've saved your prior "Can You Beat Skyrim as a Werewolf" run to actually appear and kill this one.
Tonight on the nine o’clock news, local furry takes down rival guild with an imaginary weapon.
Klondike is by far my favourite name I laughed way more than I should've
i think restoration is a perfectly valid school of magic, and don't let anyone tell you otherwise.
Understandable, have a nice run
farkas pretty often gives you a brawl quest... at least for me he does.... you could´ve also gone to aela who will give a hunting quest, or to that old unfriendly guy that was talking to aela before you met farkas (i forgot his name). the one time i got myself a quest from him i had to clear out a cave in which there were 3 trolls... they quickly murdered me to death since it was the beginning of the game and i was only lvl 2-3
I really wish you could join the Thalmor and Silverhand. Get quests to destroy the college and destroy the companions, kinda like when you kill Astrid in the shack and get the “Destroy the Dark Brotherhood” quest line.
YEEESSS, finaly another questline!
No true son of Skyrim uses healing spells, we hold out our hand to pause our enemies and eat all the food in the realm!
As long as the challenge doesn't specifically prohibit spells, using a spell as a _last_ resort is completely fine. Just make sure you don't make a habit of it, 'cause then it would get boring.
The "guild" questlines in skyrim felt too short and the companions especially felt like they had little closure. I'm definitely hoping whatever we get in ES6 has much more to do for whatever factions/groups are available.
Gotta love the thumbnail
Love your stuff
I think this is a win. Healing magic is fine because the challenge only revolves around how you're attacking things, not the type of defenses that you're using.
Healing is fine also love outro
When you said phantom sword. I deadpan thought you meant the bound sword (or a variation of) so I’m impressed regardless
I hear the Companions are at odds with a fellow named Goldfinger.
unless the challenge specifically states a magic school (conjuration only) then its fair game. its a win in my book
Challenge ideas:
The companions with only magic and no armor. Use a Bound weapon for the required melee fights and flesh spells are allowed.
Dragonborn with only shouts.
Dawnguard with only Restoration. It's possible without companions if you side with the Dawngaurd and buy the spells from Sorrine Jurard and Florentius Baenius.
This was enjoyable to watch so in general and has nothing wrong with it
so what If you yoused a healing spell, no one got hurt by it so no harm done
This is pretty awesome but I feel the official end of it is when you cure Farkas and vilkas werewolf and collect all the totems for aela
Klondike the wisest ice cream Harbinger in Skyrim.
I just want to know: do you use soup strategy? Vegetable soup, and beef/venison stew increases stamina (and health) regen, meaning you can do more power attacks per second while their effects are active, and they stack, increasing vastly your survivalibility and combat ability, while also not relying on any character skills/perks/spells.
Here is my challenge for you. The mage guild questline without magic except in those places the game absolutely insists that you cast a spell. If you can find a way to get around not using a spell in an area that seemed to require a spell, even better!
this is the true imaginary sword :D dig it
Healing spells are fine as long as they don't damage enemies like the poison rune does
If the chalenge is "just" the phantom sword, then use just it. No armors, no spells, nor nothing else except for mandatory things. Well of course the rules can be more soft and pass everything if it doesn't do damage, since you are actually doing damage just with phantom sword. That depends on you.
I think that the use of healing from the restoration line is fine.
Challenges, and challenge CZcamsrs, all seem to hold levels for use in fights (so they can pop the level and get instantly full healed) and I think that healing magic is a far more fair system. Holding levels is something that guarantee's you'll get full health, and there's no risk behind it. But healing magic is a slow process, the time it takes to charge the spell, or while casting in case of "Healing", you are completely open to attacks, staggers, and other.
If I was to say, the use of restoration is far more fair than the holding levels, but I still personally allow both when I play through doing personal challenge runs. To me, this is a win.
No idea going in what the phantom sword was, but got the expected fun time.
I think as long as you only use the base heal it's fine, and if you don't level up restoration unecessarily, IE getting hit, running away, healing, etc.
Love the intro.
Im going to say healing spells are a no go, because it's a skill that levels up as you use it. Healing potions and any other method of healing that doesn't give XP are fine though.
I live these videos I always watch them
Far as I'm concerned, this was a success ^_^
I would say it was a fail, but still cool to watch
4:46. On my playthrough it was a tiger.
a fun little tidbit: farkas is also the hungarian spelling of wolf
Getting your healing skill to 100 is one thing, using the base restau spell that everyone starts with is another. I think it's fine that you used healing for this.
When it comes to healing spells, they started it.
Healing spells are basically infinite potions or a faster wait here, all though I would say keep it base without perks
The way I see it healing spell break the spirit of the run as apposed to the rules.
i think using spells in a challenge is okay or if its a spell based challenge then potions for sure. its a base mechanic in the game and i dont see much wrong with keeping yourself alive.
I don't think he realized he could just strafe around the hagraven's scratches against the Witches
To echo some other stuff said - it seems fair if your enemy uses them. And like with this challenge, you tried everything without using it so you had to
Personal opinion is that all starting spells are fair game
You won this for sure, unless you’re making a part of the challenge that you cant heal you should be allowed to.
I want to see you do as much of Skyrim as you can with just Bound Dagger (I know you can't do everything, since you need access to bound dagger first.)
My mind immediately went to the Japanese translation of the phantom sword in the windwaker timeline. Specifically the fantasy translation.
My take is that healing is something granted to every character, regardless of race or any other character creation option, so it should be available as a resource. I'd say there's more of an argument against being an Orc specifically for berserker rage than against using basic healing magic, but I think both are fine either way.
I think using healing spells when it's the only way you can win a fight is absolutely fair game.
I think "Can you do X" is a different challenge to "Can you do X without healing". You might even be able to make an argument that healing *spells* are fine, but potions aren't.
In my opinion, it only matters what you use to attack the enemies so healing spells or potions are acceptable
would enjoy a "beating the college of winterhold with only arniels convection" or only robes and novice spells
But you can’t get that until you are archmage
@@ginger3042 I don't think so but you do definitely need to be partway through it atleast so problematic regardless
in my opinion healing spells may only be used if the challenge is impossible without, try it without using em where possible
Challenge:Skyrim civil war without respawning
I believe that they are fine
I'd say you win this because you aren't doing any damage with healing spells, so healing didn't kill the enemies faster it just kept you alive long enough to kill them which is perfectly acceptable.
You won healing technically isnt an attack so yeah
I like your stuff keep up the good work
Id like to see you
Can you beat any part of skyrim with only spider scrolls
Snuggy-wubbles: I always want you to play Skyrim. Please and thank you
The core of the challenge is only doing damage with the phantom sword, so honestly healing should be just fine since its not damaging anything or anyone.
I do think allowing healing is different from "x only", but I dont mind it
I saw this title and thought you were talking about the ghost blade you get after killing lua al skaven
Me too
Mans testing youtube with these thumbnails
I think in the future you should do food only instead of healing spells when you reach those points that way it makes for better commentary
God I love Danny Phantom...lmao
You should do only daedric artifact run. Where you use only daedric artifact. For an example the dawnbreaker.
Do Skyrim without healing. No healing spells, turn regen off, no potions/food, and no level ups.
Skyrim with only 1 hp in fact. I think he did it
think healing spells count as a loss. Its a tpe of "item" (since you have to equip it I think you kinda can count it as an item) that is not thephantom sword. But there is something that is not an item and i think you could use in this chalanges and should be aloud: sneak!
Its an ability that is not equiped to the player, every character that you create have it as default, is core gameplay element of the game that every class can use someway and can be used alongside the phantom sword! If you could beat skyrim with the phantom sword using sneak perks to aid in the parts you cant normaly do, in my view is a win.
healing it perfectly fine, since the challenge was to only deal damage with the phantom sword
Not allowing healing is like doing a survival challenge but you can’t eat of course you are going to fail at some point
