You are a beautiful soul, your videos are EXTREMELY helpful for those of us going through this, or thinking about doing it.
This video hit exactly on the topic I was having, a week after my lower arch teeth removal, implants and immediate denture. I was in tears getting it on, with it taking 10-15 minutes to 'sink' and settle in to the arch. I know, 1 week in - what a wimp! However I had a large red sore area on my front arch right where I had teeth removed, and it was killing me. My dentist corrected this immediately, I can't even express the relief I had putting the denture back in without that rubbing pain. It makes ALL the difference with dentures, I am finding!
So glad to have a empathetic dentist, and to find empathetic people like yourself out there helping people!

me too, I also used cutting polish used on plastic to sand down rough spots, manicure tools, emery boards, you name it. You have to be proactive in getting the fit because the dentist can only guess where to sand but when you do it you can immediately check if it made a difference or not, and keep at it. Especially in areas that are too long or too high cutting into the flesh here and there. I did it so much and helped myself a lot because I was going back too many times for very minor trimming which just wasn't enough. Be proactive.

I've come to terms with the fact that its gonna be awhile before I can afford implants so.....Im actually getting ready to get a new set of dentures made. I reline mine myself - which honestly isn't horrible to do but I shouldnt have to use as much reline material as I do. My new (sorta new - APril will make a year that I have been there) job has really good benefits. I get close to $3000 a year of "in house" credit to use on medical or dental. But, they dont do implants here, unfortunately. This year we are using a chunk of it for my husband - who neglected his own dental issues for way too long so I could take care of mine, then after he is done I am going to get new dentures. One thing I have learned from you is that this time I am going to be WAY more vocal and picky about how they look - color, how the teeth are placed, etc. When I got my first set I was just so happy to have teeth again that I didnt care. My dentures aren't horrible by any means, other then the fit, but the molars are worn down, the gum line where the teeth meet the gum looks funky - I just know i can do better. Its not stuff that anyone looking at me will notice but *I* notice it because I have been doing this so long now and know way more than I did when I first start. So I am going to do what I can to improve m situation. My oldest is starting college in the fall and I cannot justify spending the $$ on implants on myself when he is going to need so much stuff to start college. I wish dental stuff was more affordable - not just for me but for everyone. People shouldnt have to go into debt over it. Its sad.

How long have you been using removable dentures? And tell me your experience please I am afraid coz some say you cannot speak, eat, kiss, have oral activities with your husband/boyfriend you know.. or sleep with your dentures in... These things were custom made, right? So, what happened? I used to measure for custom riding boots and I can't imagine them not fitting and telling the customer to stuff a sock in the sides, etc. Why do my dentures seem like they don't fit? Too high in the front and sides and now blisters. OUCH.

@@kalinjax Hi I think I may just have to get my lower and top teeth 🦷pulled out , due to all my teeth decaying, and falling out from getting very ill for the past 4 years of being in and out of the hospital. Although I brush my teeth all the time. The medications they were giving me, were the main cause of my teeth to start to lose their strength, and caused them to start getting loose and decaying. 😞.. I was so angry, and yet scared that this was happening to me. Especially considering that before I got ill my teeth were always so healthy, and in perfect shape.. So I just happened to come across your channel, and I must say thank you for speaking about this important topic. I am now subscribed to your channel, and cannot wait to watch all your videos 🙂. I had a question for ya..I thought that after we got our teeth pulled that a person had to wait for 3 months to get a new set of teeth placed in their mouth. A friend of mine told me this not that long ago. Is their a different type of dentures out their that you can have replaced immediately, after you teeth have been pulled? I really don’t know too much about this, and I would greatly appreciate any feedback with regards to the truth of having to wait 3 months after teeth are pulled for dentures, or is it implants your talking about that they also have, and that can be placed in your mouth right after they extract your teeth?

@@ijustrealllylikecats inflammation was intense, and we tend to have slightly higher nerve sensitivity. So staying on top of the meds, alarms so you don’t start feeling it a ton.
The healing process will feel like it’s taking forever, but it wasn’t really any longer than what my dentist has seen with other patients.
Bone broth, lots of fluids, coconut water, and start eating as soon as you feel like you can. When it’s green lit by the dentist just try all the things that are soft. It’s the most uncomfortable part that I experienced, it took a lot of practice to get comfortable eating. And once you are eating get them adjusted as much as you need to. Don’t be afraid to bug the dentist.
I hope your surgery goes well and the inflammation stays in check! 💜

I got them in 2015. Pain never stopped. I had relines done, adjustments done but they never fit right. Ulcers and gouges all the time, my soft palate partly covered, swallowing and even breathing hindered, just bad all over all the time. After the initial swelling went down I couldn't eat with them in place. Just wearing them a couple of hours gave me ulcers. I had injury to part of my jaw bone where 2 teeth were pulled that seemed like part of the bone was broken. splintered bone fragments came out for nearly a year. At this point I dread even trying again to have new ones made and fitted. It went so badly.

The first dentist will get paid over time but I cant go to a person who doesn't honor their word. On top of it I really hate the way my dentures look. It depends I think on the type you get. The dentures with mini implants that snap in and out. Are any where between $6,000~$25,000. The ones that don’t come out are anywhere between. 30,000-70,000. My mom is 76 and her four bottom front teeth are individual implants to replace. The teeth she lost and her insurance covered none of it. Most dental insurance companies don’t cover implants they are considered cosmetic. It cost her $15,000 for four teeth. Two have failed and she has had to shell out. Money for new ones the dentist charges the same amount each time. You can have implants come loose only dentist can tighten them. That is additional cost. If you have the kind that don’t come out when you go to the dentist. He has to unscrew them and them out of your mouth to clean. They charge more because it is not like cleaning your natural teeth. The implants last for ten years. Whatever you pay to get them in ten years you will be paying the same amount again. Unless you have the financial resources to maintain them. Classic dentures are less expensive. Get the best set you can afford now. Save money and get better set later. I have not had my extractions yet. My husband is disabled so I am getting dentures that we can afford. With little saving for probably about 15 months to 18 months. I will have the set that is better. For me anything I have is better than what I have now. No more infections and broken teeth. So I am very lucky that after 3 years it will soon be over. I hope you got your smile back soon.

I am reaching out off topic but hoping you may have some insight on how to resolve a dental issue. I am seeking help for my grandson. He needs to find a dentist in the Jax area that will help him with fillings for 3 teeth. He is trying to get into the military and was advised he needs to have 3 fillings before he can go forward . He does have a lot of work that needs to be done. Thus far the dentists he has seen said he needs a full mouth restoration and won't do the required fillings without commitment to the full restoration. He just needs a dentist that understands once he is enlisted in the military he can have much of the work he needs done by them. I know that this approach takes away from their bottom line. The thing is he cannot afford to have this work done . I realize you may not be able to offer a solution to this but if you have any suggestions I would appreciate it very much. Do you experience any pain with the implants?

Hello. I just got my surgery on Friday March 18 and I’m having the hardest time wearing my immediate dentures I haven’t been able to eat much. Any suggestions?

You’re in the worst of it right now. Try to stick to soft foods for the first couple of weeks. I was eating mashed potatoes, eggs, overcooked veggies, etc. If you go to my 11 Year Denture Anniversary video, I included a clip that I never uploaded to CZcams. It was the first week of dentures and I was talking about how I couldn’t talk, eat, anything. They were massive, uncomfortable, couldn’t even fit a spoon in there. They should be able to make adjustments at your first checkup. Good luck!

Try only eating soft foods for a while , boiled eggs, noodles , pasta , apple sauce, oatmeal. Eggs are good to keep your protein up that way you don’t loose a lot of weight. Try to stay hydrated too I was very dehydrated the first month.

    Good afternoon
I'm new to wearing dentures and it's hard to adjust to the new reality....
I have a question for the community
Is there anything I could wear at night when I remove my dentures...
I have no teeth at all left so I feel the void and it's hard and it hurts...
Thank You in advance for your advice!!

This will go away .. I’ve had mine since January, abs for the first month and a half I had horrible headaches and jaw pain that went up my head. You have to learn to hold your mouth in a position that is comfortable. Your jaw naturally wants to sit where it was before but there’s nothing there for your jaw to rest on. It will get better ❤️‍🩹 it’s a process. My bottoms are still painful to wear abs never sit still. As soon as I try to chew anything they come loose. But stay positive!!! And you need to visit with your dentist to see if they can do anything to help. You can also try to get a night guard- they are for people that grind their teeth. This might help with your jaw

With the implant does the top of your mouth have anything touching like the denture plate????

I think Immediate Dentures is a totally failed concept. Nothing but a 2000.00+ dollar ticket to pain. I say, pull the teeth, then do an impression after a week or two. Sure they will not be perfect but what gets put in your mouth on surgery day is an absolute joke.

@Tesa No I didn’t win contest either. So yes dentures is what I will have. You do realize that you and myself not getting implants. Is not her fault right. It absolutely amazes me that. People are completely incapable of being happy for others. I am thrilled for her she deserves beautiful smile.

@@tesathompson35 I will make this little more clear for you. Right now I have three abscess teeth. Yes I can have them pulled. But getting the dentures I need. Is going to take awhile. I certainly wouldn’t make comment to you. About me not having my dentures while you have yours. It very clear her winning that contest. Makes you resentful and angry.
