Lyon made this event. Period. Not the most top flight events but the crowd and the changes they made to play into the crowd was brilliant.

that’s the best crowd I’ve seen/heard at a wrestling event. So much better than the incessant and insipid “what” and “you deserve it.”
I would love it if the French chants and singing started to migrate across to the other PLE’s, that something new was born that day.
If WWE was smart they would do a Slammy for best crowd each year and who ever wins gets one of the 4 main shows the next year.

WWE seems to be setting up a Bloodline Civil War. So I suspect Solo and the Haku sons on one side (with perhaps The Rock calling the shots behind the scene) and on the other side Roman with Jacob Fatu and the Usos.

People keep waiting for Jey Uso to cool off, but it ain’t happening. Jey is white hot right now! Love him or hate him, it would be promoter malpractice not to capitalize on his popularity and make some money using him
Jey's wrestling is mid at best but his personality and entrance is main event
using a couple of superkicks less couldn't hurt though. Switch his moveset up a bit. Give him an uppercut, a headbutt or a submission move. And... it could be even better.
Because to me the number of kicks right now is making it look weaker imo
FUN FACT- The orginal long term plan for The Blood Line was by the time Roman would drop the strap & disappear for a while...Jey Uso would emerge as a legitimate solo Main Eventer.
While the Bloodline plan took several curves along the way, Jey is firmly a Main Eventer.

Apparently there's some concerns in the WWE that debuting Jacob Fatu now will overshadow Solo Sikoa.
Which makes sense tbh cause Jacob osthe better version of what Solos character is supposed to be.

Its possible they could've went a different route with this and used a safer move but its not like they're showing someone do the brainbuster every week so once in a while is good enough to get a "oh shit" reaction out of people.
Cody and AJ gotten a 5 stars from Uncle Dave. The crowd helps the match and they too deserve one if the stars

The crowd became a character in itself, and made EVERY match seem like a main event.
As a French-Canadian from Montreal, I can tell you that people in France laugh at us. They also say we don't speak properly. K.O even made an effort to tone down the Quebec accent.

Tiffany Stratton was the MVP of that women's triple threat match. It was basically her vs Naomi and Bayley. She's an amazing athlete.
Gonna be hard to top that environment this year. The crowd turned a pretty average event into a must see.
I’m surprised they didn’t put Tiffany Stratton over as much. Multi - Woman Matches are generally sloppy and Tiffany kept up and possibly outworked two veterans .
As a Person who lives in Europe, I have to disagree with Jim. Being starved is one part of the thing, but the french crowd is smart and creative. Austria (where I am from) could never do chants like the french. They sat on their hands, or only shout a wrestlers name and they are more starved than anyone else

Haku's submission hold was the "Tongan Death Grip".
There was a lot of good, deeper 'lore' to the main event. The fact AJ once fought Dusty for the NWA title gave weight to AJ saying he wanted to see if Cody could carry the burden of champ, the fact AJ last won the big title on foreign soil, beating Jinder in England to get it.
It all built up to him being the best first opponent for Cody to have a good match with and establish yeah, this is our champ now. You don't want the first opponent to be part of a 5 month blood fued, start slow and build to that down the road. Loved every aspect of this, even the French serenading AJ every time he did anything haha.

French canadians arrived in XVIth century in Canada, with French colonizers. You are right we are cousins.
For crowd singing in english, the fan base is usually watching WWE in english, in addition of the two french commentators who were at Lyon (they have been celebrated as superstars, due to their important influence on wrestling in France, especially between 2007 and 2014 when WWE was present on national television).
We miss the Jim Johnston songs, modern ones are in majority flat, without flavour.
The crowd was incredible, transforming a B- show to a A+ one. The energy was incredible for the wrestlers, it could be seen during interviews.

@@TheCroatia7i swear lik i don't know how they don't get hyped , the football matches in Europe are always sold out even if they play with a midget team , they don't get bored and they celebrate , they sing... and that's what makes the player get hyped and puts his best effort and give them all he has , the us crowd on the other hand , they get bored quickly because they themselves are boring and when the show ends they ask why did the wreslter not put his best effort or why he was washed out... because he was not cheered or hyped to give his all , look at the matches in backlash they were all good because the crowd was good.

I think the most striking example was the double arm bar. Bianca selling by kicking her legs etc. and Jade just laying there like a statue.
Rumors out there that some in WWE are worried about Jacob Fatu over shadowing Solo. They should be. Solo is not special. They really should have signed Jacob and and made him the one to usurp Roman. No one believes Solo Sikoa can or would beat Roman Reigns.
Maybe they should have Jacob be the new Tribal Chief, then; Solo is his right-hand man, paving the road for him before he comes in.
