- I've been waiting to review the PS5 and Xbox Series X but still to this day cannot find these consoles in stock for their retail prices. The reason why? Scalpers. New laws may be coming to fruition that will may bot purchasers and resellers illegal and prosecutable crimes. I still want to review both of these consoles but I refuse to pay double the cost for each console on Ebay.

Easiest way to fix it, make them all store purchases until stocks are stable.

And as the video stated they where going to implement 1 system per house hold and everyone complained. Infact sony does have a 1 system per household in place now if you buy from the playstation direct site.

2: which CAPTCHA test? The one that reads your mouse movment? The one that requires you pick out letters amoung squiggly lines? Or the one the requires you choose which photos have a common object?
People already complain they cant check out fast enough to get the systems, add a captcha to the mix and you are going to have alot more pissed off customers.
3: and the systems will still be hard to get right now. Covid means less systems being built, more people at home trying to aquire them, and more people with desposable money to spend on them because of tax season/goverment stimulus checks.
@Top Noodle yeah i ordered both within a day of eachother after only looking for a week. They arent nearly as impossible to find as they used to be.
Even if you hate twitter sign up and follow a few of the stock tracker accounts, set up accounts with all the major retailers and have you card info pre input into the sites, learn which days retailers generally restock as they all mostly follow a pattern.
Are you going to accidently find a system for sale if you check at random? Probably not.

Do some research on it honestly. It pretty interesting stuff but there are bots that can in fact beat all 3 forms of captcha.
And thats not including links that skip everything and bring you right to checkout with the item in your cart, somthing that retailers have actually been baning twitter users from their sites because they tweet the on the "stock alert" pages and those bypass everything.
Give it another few months and everyone will be able to get one. Honestly as someone who has both, outside of faster load times, slightly better resolution, and higher frame rate there is zero reason to own either right now.
There are no exclusives that look mind blowingly better or do anything that the current gen cant. Everything on ps5 or series can be played on ps4 and the xbone and looks mostly the same lol
You can also use bots to get the scalpers back. There was a guy on Reddit that used eSnipe to put in a last second bid on an eBay auction for a PS5. The top bid was like $80 for a couple days. He put a bid of $550 as his top bid into esnipe and the esnipe bot put his bid in at the last second. With shipping, he ended up paying $235. He even provided a screenshot and he isnt the only one. If you go to eBay and look at the finished auctions, you will find that there are quite a few people that paid well below retail. Unfortunately, most listings are not auctions

They should have had a exclusive release to ps plus holders and priority to the members with long term active accounts. Sure a lot of new gamers would miss out but this would have ensured the consoles purchased would be used instead of sitting waiting for someone to buy at a inflated price.
Also Sony and Microsoft would get actual game sales as well. Scalpers aren't buying games.

I guess its a good idea but at the same time my friends have had one for just as long but had to make newer accounts about a year or two ago but I still think people who have accounts over a year old or two years should be prioritised

Regardless of what they do, they will have to do something. Both companies are getting a ridiculous amount of backlash over this. It's the single most popular topic when the new console generation is discussed. It's not about the consoles themselves or the games or anything else. The thing people talk about the most is the fact that millions of people who want one can't get one and they are blaming Sony and Microsoft above everyone else. They are going to have to address this one way or another

If they make it to were you can only buy it in the store, then eventually you will be able to get a ps5 or xbox because the same people won't be buying the console again and again. But since it's only online, it's the same people buy the consoles again and again and reselling it

I got two playstations and two xbox serios x at normal price for me and my brother you just have to keep checking all the websites that sell. Bestbuy was the easiest place for me
What I dont get is how there are enough people willing to pay the higher price that these bot user aren't bankrupting themselves. How are they not sitting on 100s if not 1000s of units that they can't sell because people don't want to pay 2x the price. Most of all, Sony is selling counsels at a loss in hopes of profiting on higher game prices. If units are sitting collecting dust then they are losing way more and will result in future consoles having a higher price tag to protect their own profits next time around. Lastly wouldn't the easiest way to fix this to be to opening up another pre-order allowing for one unit per address, and allowing a second unit to be purchased 3 or 6 months later.
Well said. I think this is simpler than is being made to seem. Perhaps holding all online purchases over a certain amount from the same IPs and or "companies"and do in store purchases until it levels itself out

Scary to think that on the PS5 launch day, I stayed up for 24 hours, missed 15+ drops, eventually caught a random drop from Amazon and that was still easier than trying to get a console for retail the past couple months. Insane to me that you have to struggle to give Sony 500 dollars

The reason why the shortage. March 2019 the workers at a semiconductor plant in Malaysia had a up rise over wages and smashed all the machines. They were 1 of the 3 factories that made semiconductors. Every electronic device has many of them in it.

I'm pretty sure the low supply is the main reason you can't find one. If the supply was plentiful, the scalp market wouldn't exist.
More PS5's were ordered and sold in the the first 12 weeks, as the same as the PS4 sold in 12 months. Supply is there, scalpers are literally sat on thousands upon thousands of them. Once Sony get enough out to saturate the market, I hope every last scalper gets stuck with their PS5's or sell them at a huge loss to get rid of them. There's been plenty of supply, the scalpers, regardless of supply will still steal as many as they can for their own greed.
As more of an example and proof. I can remember getting my ps4 from a gamestop fairly new to the market because gamsstop was not so online with their inventory, that they could tell you what the store had. So the stores would actually recieve copies to set on a shelf for at least a few minutes. You had to call and find out when and make yourself available for it physically. Don't have to do any of that now. They aren't touching shelves at all now either.
Iâm going to say that is 2022 now, and I actually bought the ps5 on PlayStation direct when it was restocked. I waited one year to get my hand in one of those hard-to-get consoles since my fiancĂ© n me were planning to buy it once I hear the news of restocking on one of those retail stores. It also saved myself on buying it to a scalper on eBay. I was super lucky that after so many tries of making the payment through my card to match the address I secured mine to the last hour before PlayStation direct close.

I watched your video yesterday before midnight and for some reason I decided to refresh the Microsoft store page and I saw the holy button "Place Order" instead of out of stock. I immediately purchased it and I somehow beat those damn bots. Got the order confirmation in my email! Don't give up or buy from those scalpers!

I got my Xbox Series X today. I ordered it in the beginning of November, so it took almost 6 months to arrive in the store where I picked it up. There are hundreds, even thousands of orders waiting in line.

We don't have this in law in the UK to my knowledge but out retailers do now limit how many amounts of a product you can buy per household, usually with consoles its one per household. I wanted the xbox when it came out and its taken till a week ago to get one at retail price cos I refuse to buy from a bot reseller, the more we ignore over priced items, the more they will stop buying up all the stock, stop buying overpriced products thats another way to overcome this problem!
Unfortunately this bot situation will be the reason THE MARK OF THE BEAST WILL HAPPEN. To get items that we want and make sure bots can't step in, they will have a code or number per each individual and without that code or number no purchase will go through. My goodness it's happening

i want to know how as a seller of these products like Walmarts, how are they not monitoring or regulating a buyer's shipping address and not putting a stop to the "cock blocking" of actually being able to purchase either consoles online? Best way to beat bots is to add your console to cart before they stock up it seems the bots are at their worse when selecting the item, I tried to select an item when stock updated but immediately it said no stock but I remembered my cart save and purchased the item.

Yeah, I live in the uk so shops aren't open yet but once everything is open for a while I think we should be able to go in the shop to get them since at least we don't have to have amazing wifi and there's would be no bots.
I was able to squeeze out 1 single PS5 online from the best buy website at retail price by luck only. Sadly though I really havenât gotten a chance to play it! I moved from Michigan to Arizona and bought a new home so all our stuff is still in boxes đŠ including the PS5. Iâm sure 8 to 10 months from the date of release youâll be able to walk into any brick and mortar store and buy one. My 1st day in Arizona March 17th, 2021 I saw a guy walking out of Walmart with a PS5 in hand!

When you get an xsx, please do a video on the audio! No optical port, only licensed headsets and its been reported the quality in sound is still less even with licensed headsets like astro. Greatly appreciated
@cpt ghost I'm talking about the higher end of the spectrum, the more expensive headsets that third party sell which can't access the xsx user market, audiophile grade headset, ÂŁ200+ price point. I've read a large thread on Microsoft about this. People have spent hundreds trying to get different setups to work with no avail. I play seige mainly and audio is key.

Of course, if everyone stopped buying marked up items on ebay, the problem would quickly go away. The same problem exists for home gym equipment, although I donât know if it is bots that buy up the items. I see the dumbbells i want on ebay for $600 over retail. Any new stock quickly disappears. One company has resorted to a lottery process to weed out the resellers.

THANK YOU - this was an outstanding video. I totally agree that scalping - especially with bots - should be made illegal (including here in the UK). As of now, end of March 2021, nearly six months later, Iâm spending more time than Iâm willing to admit per day across about eight websites to find a single new console at the retail price.
You raise an excellent point Iâve not heard before about those stupid families vetoing the one console per house idea... Even selfishly theyâre regretting this now, and the rest of us canât even have the one console we wanted. I say JUST REINSTATE THE POLICY!

This is not only in America its here in the middle east and its even worse Iâd argue. they literally promote them on Instagram pages for 800$+ and charging close to 100$ dollars for delivery that takes a couple minutes

Honestly, just go on the NowInStock tracker for your country and be patient. You will eventually get one if you are consistent and keep looking whenever you can. I have had multiple opertunities to purchase each console. The PS5 is still pretty hard but they are doing a lot of Xbox Series X/S here in Canada so there is no reason you couldn't get one of those.
Playstation direct i bought myself one for retail price 499 last Thursday you can now only buy 1 per house and must sign in with psn ID to order, but they shipped it quickly and I got it on Monday morning. Well worth the wait. Just keep checking with them.
