      I was going to post the same. The Mini obeyed the Highway Code, the sleepy head in the car behind wasn't looking at the road situation. It doesn't matter if the compiler considered that the Mini should have moved, or "not stopped". The law is the law. They stopped for the pedestrian, as per, and there was sufficient space for the following vehicle to brake, IF the sleepy blonde had been both driving and THINKING. And I just saw that the rear-ender was driving a TOYOTA, that doesn't say much about her intelligence. Never trust the driver of a Japanese or Korean vehicle.

      In one case, there's even a level crossing which has a junction before it, and a box junction was added in retrospectively for the junction with very little space between the crossing stop line and the box junction, leaving enough space for a single car, guess lorries and buses don't matter much then hey

      @@nick_7869 That wasn’t a red light for the Mini driver. Those lights are for the cars that hadn’t crossed the solid white line, at the first set of traffic lights 2:52,a few car lengths behind the Mini.
      Sometimes when you pull up to traffic lights, just behind the solid white line on the road, you can’t see the traffic lights. Because they are above you/above your wing mirrors. So you can’t see the colour change unless you lean forwards a lot and look up, or look out of the side window. Or if you’re driving a buss or lorry, you can’t always see the first set of lights at the solid white line. So they placed secondary/repeater lights a little bit in front, so you’ll be able to see the lights.
      The Mini driver had past the first lights where you pull up to the white line on the road, meaning; you can’t go beyond it if the lights are red.
      To prove this, there isn’t a solid white line at those lights, in front of the Mini (2:48), like there are on the opposite side of the road just before the lights.
      Those lights were not for cars that have already drove past the first set of lights, that would have a solid white line where you must stop behind at a red light.

This means that the driving standards to pass a test from NOW on will be much harder! People will soon no longer be able to move to the UK from other countries and just 'exchange their licence' for a British Licence (they will have to pass a driving test first). We have become sloppy in our self discipline in the UK with regard to driving... and it's time to change that! In every situation the human element can fail - the Road system should not!

      approaching or at a road junction on either side of the road
      where the road narrows
      when approaching a school crossing patrol
      between a kerb and a bus or tram when it is at a stop
      where traffic is queuing at junctions or road works
      when you would force another road user to swerve or slow down
      at a level crossing
      when a road user is indicating right, even if you believe the signal should have been cancelled - do not take a risk; wait for the signal to be cancelled
      stay behind if you are following a cyclist approaching a roundabout or junction, and you intend to turn left
      when a tram is standing at a kerbside tram stop and there is no clearly marked passing lane for other traffic

    #4 I disagree. The Golf overtook by going on hashing and was a distance away from the junction when the car arrived. • @ferrumignis
      @ferrumignis Před 6 měsíci

    • @psychologicalprojectionist
      @psychologicalprojectionist Před 6 měsíci

      @@ferrumignisIMO, the emerging driver has judged (and rightly so) that he has right of way based on the amount of clear road he can see on his right. He then has to look left before he can start the manoeuvre. He doesn't have to judge the Golf's speed, but possibly he has assessed the speed of the camcar and not seen the Golf ( it wasn't in the correct road position) and anyway speeding doesn't give you right of way!
      Assuming the cam car was close to the speed limit, you can see his right turn was safe based on how close the cam car was to the incident. I believe the Golf is doing 20mph over the camcar so that is 50 in a 30. Way too fast!
      The Golf has also overtaken in the short distance between two bollards that is hashed. The authorities really don't want people to overtake there! So it's not just speeding, it's excessive speeding and reckless driving.
      Finally the emerging driver has seen the Golf and stopped, so he made the continuous observation.
      I do apportion some blame to the emerging driver, but that portion of the blame depends on how much faster than the speed limit the Golf was doing, which I can't honestly judge.

If you come from the south on the M32, then both outside lanes lead onto the M4, if you come from the M4, then the same two lanes lead round onto the M32. If the old guy came from the M32, he was completely in the right to exit in that lane to go to the M4, and the black car, if he came from the M4 was just as right to continue to the M32. It seems plain that the little black car sped off from the lights too quickly and was trying to undertake the old guy. Either way, the gap in the lane markings shows you can use both lanes to exit to the M4, and the old guy had his blinkers on. Again, observation and not treating the road like a racetrack would have avoided this accident.
