I think people forget how country drums are very rock and roll. It's the guitars and vocals that are so different from metal. Gojira is tough because of the timing changes. A lot of the songs that have been featured in this series have clear rhythmic structures even with time signature changes, the rhythm remains clear. Gojira, especially in this song, don’t make it entirely obvious where you’re supposed to feel the beat, especially on the chorus part, so to learn this in two takes essentially 90% as good as any drummer could be expected to is OUTRAGEOUS! What this series does well is that it imparts the importance of listening to numerous genres, especially when learning an instrument, to learn the nuances and many styles to play.
