Tosh Peterson Hears Deep Purple For The First Time
First metal drummer with blues swagger and big band swing. Hell yea.
Amo a este bato, gracias maestro
"..which may or may not have inspired some of the riffs on Guns and Roses Paradise City many years later..." was a perfect piece of diplomacy there, Brandon đ Fantastic profile of a seriously under appreciated drummer, probably the heaviest jazz player of all time. Great work as always, Drumeo. P.s love hearing the way our trans- Atlantic brethren pronounce "Birmingham"..
holy crap those drums owe him a lot of money.
About time! Bill is awesome!
That was awesome.
I've mostly discounted a lot of drummer on the sole basis that Neal Peart existed, but one day while listening to Master of Reality, the drumming resonated with me a lot more than usual, and completely changed my opinions on things. I'm not a drummer, but Bill Ward makes me wish I were. (not a drummer due to lack of space, if space ever increases, there will be a drum kit filling it)
Easily one of my favorite drummers and a big, big inspiration on why I gravitated to learning drums in the first place!
Thanks for this, I absolutely love Bill Ward â€
So hard to replicate this stuff, so unique
Please get Bill in the studio if you can and get him to break down some Sabbath songs and talk about his playing <3
He's a Genius. PE R I O D.
Amo a Bill Ward! Gracias por todo tu legado! From chile
God bless her! That was amazing to see and hear!
I would love to hear what you all say in the booth..
Chad does t need an arrangement sheet,, he just dives in.. thatâs the difference from a great drummer and a flipping great drummer..
I recorded II playing last night in Chicago live, the experience was absolutely ethereal.
Brad Wilk being the next Genius of is literally perfect because he did the final Black Sabbath Album đ
RAD!!!!!!!!!
I think the difference between pre and post ward heaviness is that heavy psychedelic or blues groups came from the basis of an inner feeling being expressed to communicate everyones unique individuality almost like a group of soloists, each channeling infinity. The cosmic universal beauty celebrated 1=ALL . To me metal is more of the earth, and communicates the unified aspects of the human race and nature, and Bills work in retrospect signified the extremity of the darkness reflected from the world, but communicated through music , which is beauty, and he and SABBATH as a group became known as the heavy metal pioneers, because they reminded us through music of what is camaraderie and musicians playing AS ONE and that we are all one. .......maaaaan....
Bill Ward is a God tier drummer and deserves to be brought up consistently in the same sentence as his peers like Bonham and others. Bill didn't just keep time, he swang and grooved all other these songs and created the most unique musical landscape ever. The way he hangs back just a bit behind the rest of the band in the intro for Into the Void gives me goosebumps. His fills in the chorus of War Pigs in their 1970 live show are electrifying. Bill Ward was the heart of Black Sabbath and he will never ever be replicated. Such a nice bloke too.

Thank You LARNNELLL!!!! For it all big time.
amazing
I Love Billy Ward! Shaped My Rock and Metal Drumming early on. He was different than the rest.
every time im forced to hear an american say birmingham another year is taken off my life. you don't pronounce the H, lads
I love Bill Ward. His creative grooves and musical fills drove the band that not only defined heavy metal, but also influenced stoner and grunge. Thanks for another great video, Brandon.
I always wondered why I like music that I canât play the drums on.. I can get through Paranoid..if itâs early..but after the 3rd set The mind is willing but the body is weak Aging is the cruelest thing Time can do to a drummer
Thank you for recognizing this man!
Finally someone Has acknowledged that BEAST of a drummer
That's NICE!!
Itâs honestly ridiculous how good he is
Mastodon are one of those bands that declined steadily with every album and Brann's drumming seems to have gone down with the ship. His drumming on 'Remission' is probably my favourite performance by any drummer on any album ever, but he seemed to lose the magic over the years. HIs early stuff felt so much more energetic and chaotic, like it was on the verge of falling apart at any minute. His rubato style where his feels would speed up and slow down mid-roll was so easily identifiable. That seems to be gone now. He has simplified his style to a huge extent, probably to allow him to satisfy his desire to take part in the vocals so much.
Thank you it was great!

26:57 Weren't Tony and Geezer tuned to C# which makes the guitars tuned down a step and a half from standard?
im jealous of all the coce they had
I saw Sabbath at OZZFEST 01 and they were incredible. Glad i got to see it!
Geniusâ€
Dee needs to see and hear this! Awesome job Nandi!
I saw bill ward. I clicked. I love black sabbath with my heart. I started a band because of it. I started the drums just bc bill. â€â€â€
as a piano player, tightness is a bitch
I do not know half of the songs discussed here but always thought this guy did a great job. Thanks for this cool video (and the others since I'm at it).
