    • @viktormuerte
      @viktormuerte Před 7 měsíci +15

      @timhoferer8822 Frank is obviously a professional with years of session work under his belt. Like, the first thing he did was create a lead sheet. The lead sheet isn't just a roadmap through the song; the act of writing it informs your muscle memory of things like song structure, breaks, accents, etc. This, plus his experience, helps make the performance extremely clean. Dirk Verbeuren's "hears the song for the first time" performance is kind of similar since, like Frank, Dirk is also a session drummer and he employed a similar technique when learning the song assigned to him (mr. Brightside.)

    As a professional drummer I can say that this is as good as it gets. This is what you get for laying down the hours and practising hard, devoting yourself to the craft and the business. Not only does he perform with attitude, confidence and presence, but he's also able to write perfectly understandable notes with efficiency, so that he can focus entirely on the painting of the canvas and orchestrating the coordination. This is a hard working musician. Technical? Indeed, those preparations were needed for this, but the energy and presence comes through experience of working in the field and playing all sort of contexts, developing listening skills. He's not playing for the cameras, he is focused on the task and locking in with the music. It's evident that he has played a large variety of styles, as he is also perfectly adaptable and can make several musical variations in such narrow turns. This was a perfectly executed first take and could have been the actual take in the studio session for the track, well done Sir! Now, I got to hear your ballads.

I honestly don't know what the heck is going on with Rob Zombie drums but they sound like something that a 5 year old comes up with, the OG is all click clock click clack nonsense there is no groove or structure at all ... come to think of it this is why I rather enjoy the RZ tracks as remixes only since they offer more and even if it's "electronic music" remix I don't ask too much from the drums anyway, when they are live drums and a heavy track then every instrument needs to be heavy but the OG drums are meh ...

      I've got a serious question for you, man- Is the negative flipped on this video, or was he briefly holding his sticks backwards in traditional grip, in the beginning? Did you ever see him play with traditional grip? Sorry for the odd question, but I come mostly from a marching percussion background, and since I was 14 or so, traditional grip was the only way I could play properly... so seeing him seemingly grip the sticks backwards really stuck out. EDIT: Just noticed that he was doing it on the thumbnail image. His left hand grip (actually done in his right hand... I can now see, based on his shirt, that the negative wasn't flipped) wasn't a technically good grip... it was like the funky way you see some jazz drummers do it. Neither here nor there, but... just wondering. They guy's obviously a great player, with matched grip.

      @@Gruuvin1 That's not how traditional grip works. There's a grip for the left hand, and a grip for the right. This dates back to military use of the snare drum, while marching; because everything in the military is (ideally) standardized, the drums were always slung to the left, necessitating a different grip for the left hand. So yeah- I think it's obvious that being lefthanded has nothing to do with traditional grip.

    • @Gruuvin1
      @Gruuvin1 Před 7 měsíci +1

      @@TheShurikenZone lol. Seriously? I play both traditional and match... Because I played snare drum line for years. I don't need a lesson there. My point is that he's a left handed drummer, and so if you saw him holding a traditional grip backwards, then that's probably why. Makes perfect sense to me. You don't HAVE to have been on a strict drum line to learn traditional grip the 'correct' way.... Maybe he just chose to learn it backwards because he wanted to angle his snare that way on his lefty set.

    This video should be titled “old Italian guy from jersey wearing sketchers absolutely crushes a rob zombie song” I’ve never played an instrument in my life but I absolutely love this series! This guy kills it! And I love to watch it.

    Yet again, this is the best series on CZcams. These drummers are INSANE. The best is when they get comfortable and JUST GO OFF. Frank was so GOOD for being out of his wheelhouse. You could tell he was having fun rocking TF out.

    Most of these drummers go way overboard like they have something to prove. He kept it mostly modest through the whole song. A+ great job Frank

    Those tom grooves were absolutely perfect for the song, he crushed it. I just love this series.

    Frank seems like a really humble dude. He actually found a few patterns etc that I preferred to the original. He honestly killed it.

    This is the best first attempt that I have ever seen.

    God I love drummers who serve the song and don't try to overdo everything. That was soooooo unbelieably good, groovy, on point, you name it.

      @@christianhackl474For sure, the OG is a classic. Frank's rendition here is just super hot fire. There's much more variety here overall, but that's to be expected from such a seasoned drum veteran.
