  • Hello everyone.
Welding thin metal is not an easy task.
However, if you learn the basics, thin metal welding may become a little easier.
Today, I introduced the basics applied when welding thin stainless steel pipe and thin stainless steel sheet.
It also includes some information on cold welding applied when welding thin metals.
Thanks for watching and have a nice week.

Hey HAGOJIBI, pulsing is also a great way to minimise distortion. Especially with stainless steel. It keeps the heat input down. I like to use 1Hz, 10% on time and high amps. Love your work. When I come to Korea, I'll bring you some soju!!!

Oh yes, yes, yes! This is the test I had to take to get at a aerospace job. Please do more on this thin material. I can use all your wonderful tips. Could you also do a tube to tube weld in a 45 degree angle. Without moving the tubes after being tack together and weld around or show how it can be done, so I can pass my test. I failed but with your videos on thin metal hey I may get that job.

Question: do you touch up (lightly regrind) your electrodes periodically, even when you don’t contaminate them?
Secondly, have you found (2% lanthanated) electrodes want a certain amount of “current density” to run “right?”
Example: 1/16 inch /1.6 mm electrode feels or acts “weird” (I know, vague language, but I cannot think of a better way of saying it) below about 40 - 50 amps, and has a “best” region about 55-80 amps? More than that, 3/32 inch /2.3 mm?
Thanks for demonstrating the thin welding.

    • @weldHAGOJIBI
      @weldHAGOJIBI  Před 2 lety

If the tungsten is not contaminated, it does not necessarily need to be regrinded.
Thin tungsten is advantageous for low current welding. However, it consumes more than thick tungsten.

All time that I used "cold welding" mode it was turning out that I no need time less than 70 ms even if current was set to 150-170 Amps. Human can easily do this with hands. E.g. typical mouse click time is about 50 ms. So you just need a comfort using your switcher.
