It's refreshing to hear another type 1 diabetic who is still living life the best we can... going to work and to the grocery store. I also work in a doctor's office (I'm an office manager) we have continued to see patients but have several screening questions and procedures in place to keep ourselves and other patients healthy; we have stepped up our cleaning and sanitizing as well. My thoughts are similar to yours in that if you are generally healthy and have your diabetes under control you aren't at any higher risk of getting any virus. Thanks for posting!

With the exception of having Type 1, I am otherwise in good health and my A1c is better than ever using the new pump/Dexcom system. Take good care of yourself and stay healthy! I so enjoy your talks! My A1C is 6.9 and I’ve never had drugs or alcohol in my life. I think just the fact that it’s considered a “autoimmune” disease has been messing with me. And with this coronavirus here now, im afraid to go to the doctor to see if i do, becacse for the obvious reason that T1Ds are more at risk for getting it. But at the same time, im worried about DKA. And going to the hospital and having an even higher risk of getting the coronavirus. Have any suggestions on what i should do?

look for a skin rash at first, then loosing your smell, and diarea, loose and more often then you think it should be when you consider diet. You will get all three to some exstent. Then you loose your ability to taist anything along with nose being able to smell less and less. The sour throat is a maybe and comes more often with the cough and the sneezing, along with the high tempreture comes inafter the first three. By the time you get the first three and feel you have it and can not be exsplained go see a doctor and get tested. It is easier to recover from cases caught early and treated early then cases where they where not caught until way latter.

It made me feel a lot more comfortable with Diabetes and this horrible virus. I was really afraid that if I would get infected It would be the end. Thanks to your advise, I will for sure control my sugar levels (sorry if I say or write something wrong), and exersice to be as healthy as I can. Although it would be very helpful if you can tell us about people who is a diabetic, and also has high blood pressure, and if you know about some cases and how to improve the chances of surviving from Covid-19. Thanks you so much for caring. Best wishes form Guatemala, the full year Spring country.

Hey there denika awesome video finding things to do at home that can be a real challenge for some people open up for me. Watch a lot of Netflix if you have it yeah I have been thinking about board games and family game nights that's pretty cool too. I also bought a Nintendo switch over the holidays so I've been keeping busy with that as well. Overall I don't think this stay home is really affecting me too much I do love being out but spending time at home can be just as good. I had been thinking about covid 19 and diabetes wondering how that would affect people with diabetes cuz there is a fact I'm diabetic type 2 one thing I've always been told is a diabetics take longer to recover from just about anything. My A1C is have been pretty good I've been between 6 and 7. I like disclaimer at the end of the video yeah everyone should consult their own physician.

We have had a terrible time getting the usual diabetes supplies. i.e. insulin and dexcom sensors (we are able to keep almost a month of other supplies). We did finally get our insulin (pd $2k for 1 month supply as had to get non-generic, but very thankful we were able to get it for our daughter.) I hope some companies will start doing more branching out of California like Tandem has done.

I'm a nurse in a nursing home and type one also and I decided to stop work, mainly because my bms are not great as I struggle, and of course in a nursing home you can't follow the social distancing rules or work from home. I found the advice from our government disappointing towards diabetes, being more likely to get it shouldn't matter, it's highly contagious anyway so really diabetics cannot afford to get it because of the risk with DKA. Evidence so far has shown poorer outcomes. Not to scare people however, just my true feelings. I'm lucky I have been able to stay off work but I plan to return in a month or two when the infection rate is hopefully much lower...hope everyone does everything they can to protect themselves and families. I also have a four year old daughter off school, and my parents need to shield so no longer can look after her. So that is another reason I am off work, but ultimately I feel I'm doing what's best by me and my family. I don't want to be a hero right now, I want to be a mother to my daughter and protect us both from out there.

Regarding COViD-19 outcomes for T1 diabetics - since Type 1 generally comes from an autoimmune attack on pancreas it seems T1Ds would be more vulnerable to have a cytokine storm triggered by COVID-19. Some one with an existing autoimmune condition is more prone to have other autoimmune events over time. This is one reason why T1Ds May be at greater risk for worst COVID outcomes. Eat right ... don’t let stress get you... and just plain try not to get it! (I think stress has a role in the immunity world ... ).. just ramblings but thought I’d share some things I’d discovered.

Be careful with all this "information".
      Especially regurgitated info.
Th Government wants everyone back to work...Back to work Slaves, even if you die...they are doing so knowing many more will die because, PEOPLE ARE STILL DYING...
