    I’m type 2 diabetic. I haven’t come across many videos on hiking with diabetes. This was so helpful! Thanks for sharing. 💕

    Maybe a waterproof jacket and a broad brimmed hat for sun protection. Happy trails.

    I’m in Australia and in addition to what you have mentioned (minus bear, human and insect spray) I bring: hat, mirror or CD to attract planes in an emergency, maybe a compression bandage for snake bites, power bank for my phone for emergencies, maybe a hiking pole, a small hand towel, pen and paper, a plastic bag for rubbish if I’m stopping for a feed, electrolyte tablets (plain water is too bland for me).. I think that’s it. If I go in summer sometimes I will take a spare top and a cooling towel for my neck but winter here is the best time for hiking.

    You need to practice with the Go Girl before you try it outside. Practice in the shower. Then practice in the bathroom. Your brain and muscles are trained not to release your bladder standing up, and it's harder than you may think. I've also found that even if you have to drop your pants and squat, the go girl can help you direct the stream away from your feet.

    One of my favorite activities. I tend to go alone with my dog. Another thing to remember is to always tell someone where you are going and when you will return.

    Pretty much water glucose tabs Thermal blanket and emergency pancho plus a basic syringe. Used to carry alot but after many hikes (including the AT) is was just extra weight if you are on maintained trails. Lighter made me feel better on the terrain. Hike your own hike and have fun. Trust your instincts

      Using a Frio is best for keeping insulin cold. Check Amazon.

    Would bears be attracted to anything diabetics carry such as glucose tablets or insulin? How about lows--would your smell be good to a bear who would want to eat you?

    • @austinkopp9811
      @austinkopp9811 Před 2 lety

      Bears are scared of humans and will not challenge you for your food... while you're awake. Food smell is not a contributing factor to daytime bear encounters. Read up on what kind of bear etiquette is recommended in your area.
