  • Today, I'm showing you how to quickly and easily untangle curly mixed hair. Maintaining mixed hair is much easier than people think. I'll show you our curly hair routine that I do every time my daughter's hair gets a "matted" or untamed look where her curls are undefined and scratchy. Of course, I'll also show you the products that I use when detangling her natural hair. Since my daughter is 4, this can be applied as a kid's hair routine as well. If you found this video helpful, please like and check out my Mixed Hair Care playlist below for other mixed-race toddler styling videos.

    I wish I would have found your videos so long ago. Thank you so much. I watched a few of them yesterday, and bought the products from your more recent video of what you use now. Did my daughters hair like you do last night & this morning there was almost no tangles. There was no screaming(my daughter is very tinder headed) and it was so so so easy to do her this morning. It even looked and felt so much better. Thank you.

    Thank you for this video! Always trying to learn and improve on my mixed/curly girls hair to keep it at its best. Loved that you don’t use a bunch of harsh chemicals and made it easy for us. My toddler doesn’t sit still though- sometimes I’m chasing her as I rush to put a pony in…wish mine sat still like yours!

      @@dianajenkins4602 Unfortunately I learned that only recently. My mom didn't want to deal with my hair so she would either perm it or put it in braids, never teaching me how to handle it myself. So I straightened my hair for years. Now I add water to it daily and moisturize it with oils... Wish I'd known to use water sooner. I only wear my hair naturally now and I love it.

    Thank you!! I got everything you suggested and it went really well!! My step daughter is 10 and needed help with detangling. I set her up with a movie and snacks - it took us about an hour but there were no tears and we completely detangled her shoulder length hair. I had to use a lot of product I assume it’s ok just to leave it. How do we maintain it throughout the next few days?

    • @VictoriaVaden
      @VictoriaVaden  Před 11 měsíci

      Oh yay!! Thanks for sharing! I'm so happy for you both! As long as its not a product that needs to be rinsed out, you should be just fine. Just keep an eye though, because if you go to brush her hair the next day (even after adding water), some products will flake/bead and it'll take a lot of water and brushing even more to remove it. My oldest (in this video) can go a day or two (I don't really like doing more than two max) with just water as a replenisher in the morning. But my middle child (she has 3C/4Bish curls) will need everything all over again, or even grease because her hair literally eats the product. But to answer your actual question: nighttime routine is the best way to maintain curly hair and keep it detangled. I usually just undo (take out the hair ties) and plait each parted section so that way I don't have to restyle the next day. Hope that helps.

    What brush do you recommend for detangling? You mentioned on the video that you usually use a different brush. I went to your Amazon list of brushes but there are so many.

    • @VictoriaVaden
      @VictoriaVaden  Před 2 lety +1

      I would suggest a wide toothed comb and a Denman brush. Haha yes, I have multiple brushes because they all do different things, and my girls have different curl patterns.

    Omg i see her shrugging her shoulders and I got flash backs. It's literally like looking at my own head. :( Thank you so much for this video though, having mixed hair is a struggle. Neither the Puerto Rican or black side know how to work with me lol. What's your opinion on grease? Should we use it? Use it lightly? Cuz I have a whole container of blue magic that I do NOT want to go to waste.

    • @VictoriaVaden
      @VictoriaVaden  Před 2 lety

      Do you have a daily hair routine? That's the best to keep mats and tangles at bay, and making sure the hair is moisturized with the right products and water. My girls (now 6 and 2) have different types of curls, but use the same products. It's very interesting how different their hair is though, so I understand what you mean.

    • @VictoriaVaden
      @VictoriaVaden  Před 4 lety +2

      The only thing I add daily is water. I don't want her to have product buildup or smelly scalp, so I'll only add products as necessary throughout the week since I always condition and/or apply a styling product after washing her hair each week.

    My grandsons, both bi racial, have totally different hair types. The 5 year olds hair is nearly straight but if not done regularly it will mat a bit in the back where he sleeps. The youngest has these huge ringlets. Not small like your adorable daughter. He also screams bloody murder the entire time she's doing his hair. I'm wondering if it's the brush she uses. It says it's a detangling brush but I think tomorrow when I try and do his hair I might use my big wide toothed comb and see if it makes a difference. Thanks for the tips.
