Junior Green and Joy Miller show you the best techniques to develop to ensure you correctly detangle curly, mixed-race hair. This is especially important for children who often develop issues over their thick tangled hair. - Jak na to + styl
Wish videos were around like this when I was growing up. No one ever wants to style my hair, and now I know why. I learned quite a bit from this video. It's crazy how I have to constantly tell people I can't just wear my hair down. I've been to some of the best salons, and no one with a degree, or years of experience knew what to do with my hair. I'm in my thirties now, and this video gives me hope.
dont give up hope completly, in the uk we have 2 devacurl advanced stylist, they are trained in all types of textures, especially coily and kinky type 4 or afro hair! and in the us, you have thousands of devastylist, in the uk, we have mathew james spring salon in birmingham or linsey hughes(one lady) who rents a chair out in london. in the us, you can go too the devacurl website and find a certified advanced stylist near you! they will teach you how too detangle, wash and conditioner your hair as well as what products you should be using for your hair type too be able too wear it down! good luck
Fabihanski Oh my goodness...thank you!
.
So much hate on the black mother...she is getting help. Yea she's wearing a wig, maybe because she was never taught how to do her own hair. Who knows. Y'all are mean.
Dishauna Kirksey she might have cancer
Blaxican here, My Mexican Grandma used to put her Avon perfumed hand cream on my hair cuz my hair was long frizzy and tangled sooo easy! No one knew what to do with my hair! Heck I even still have tangle issues in my 50s and thats why Im here!! ;-)
I think as a licensed hairstylist he should know to use a wide tooth comb, then it would be easier just as the woman who shampooed her hair.
Detangling with fingers is good as well, way better than using a fine tooth comb.
Never use a fine tooth comb to detangle the hair when it is dry.
Beautiful job though:)
The teeth on combs that guys is using is way too close together. He needs a wide tooth comb.
Some of these comments are rude but quite true!! Can't believe someone had to teach her this?
mixedchicks4U You are wrong because i am mixed and i have 3a hair while my mother who is completely african american (no she doesnt use heat at all) has 2c hair!!!Plus my cousin is mixed and has 4a hair!!! THAT REALLY SHOWS WHAT YOU KNOW!!! WE ARE ALL MIXED IN AMERICA,WITH EUROPEAN AND BLACK AND ANYTHING ELSE YOU ARE!!! wE ARE HUMAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I’m just trying to figure out why he would detangle DRY hair. That causes breakage.
Hi i was looking at your comment but im mixed and i have really fine silky curly hair but i wash mine like every 2 days because it will get naturally greasy. Is it bad to wash it that often??
We at Matted Tangled Hair Always love seeing great success stories. We are based in the US specializing in Matted and Tangled Hair. Thanks for another great video we have awesome detanging videos also at Matted Tangled Hair.
wide tooth I would start with, her hair is more fine so then I would go through with a medium size come and only wet not dry. finger come first, at night twist in big twist and satin pillow and cap
thank you very much. And who brought it to Brazil?
what i wanna know is what products you guys are using
its because mixed race hair has a specific texture to which is different to white curls or black, and that's what theyre trying to draw attention to
I have a one year old. She is mixed with african american from her dad, and hispanic/white from me. She has very beautiful curls yet they get frizzy, tangled, and dry.. Her grandma uses vaseline and I dont agree with it... I would like to recommend something else for her but dont know what... what do you recommend?
Wow.. wish I could find a stylist who would take this much care in my area. Great Job!!
Thank you so much!!!! You guys literally saved my life!!!
at what age should i start trimming my babies hair...she is a year 16months old and how often should i trim
Question: How often do you recommend to wash the hair?
I have natural curly hair and i want to know how to wash it and make it soft and long i was woundering if you know how to do that?
Where is this salon located?
cool vid, I wish someone would have taught me how to comb or detangle my hair as a child. nice vid!
thank you so much
Lmaoo. I find it funny how they said mixed race, like you have to be mixed to have curly hair.
where is this hairdresser? i'd love to visit it.
@Core4ever10 Hi there, it all depends on the hair type.
Thick hair, Kinky type 4: once a week
Loose, CurlyKinky 3: 1 - 2 week
Fine, Curly, Type 2/3: 2 week or depending on product build-up
Have a look at these descriptions to check your hair type: gidore.com/mixed-race-haircare/index.php/haircarecategory/whats-your-hair-type/
I'm a male. Multi racial, half black, Irish and Native American. Never had anyone really teach me detangling because I always had my hair short. Now my hair is shoulder length and I want to keep it healthy especially when I sleep. Do I need to have a satin pillow or head wrap?
I have Type 4 hair and I wash up to 3 times per week. The curl pattern has nothing to do with it. For children, I recommend washing once a week unless the scalp is oily or the hair is dirty or has product build up.
we need folks like you in the states!
Thank you soooo much but i've allredy giving up i just can't brush my hair it's just the worse
Its a little strange that he advises dry combing. You can see the little girls head bobbing which means there is a tug. We would have recommended a pre-poo oil, but hey every stylist has their own way
i'm a quarter black and my hair isn't as afro-like as these kids, but i wondered if its bad for me to wash it every day? the only reason that i do this is because otherwise i can't brush my hair as it gets too knotted up and matted, and the only way i can brush my hair is to spray it with water
I'm 11 and I'm starting to do my own hair. At first I would cry because my mom made if look nicer but then I figured out how to fix it and now I'm fine.
God bless you.
I had trouble combing my daughters hair and I am african american my hair is not kinky it is wavy straight at the roots my mother is african american and her hair is straight. My two of my other children have straight hair and I have one with culry hair straight at the roots. I am of native white african descent.
Must she be so rough with the kid's hair???
My daughter's hair is EXACTLY like the child shown in this video! Thanks :)
I dont like having curly hair it hurts whenever my mom tries to comb it... I just want thin hair like my dad so i wont have to worry about anything... but since im a biracial kid it is a struggle😞 😭

You now how hard that hurts those kids are tuff I get my hair done every week my is always sore for about two days those little kids are tuff
coconut oil or grapeseed oil is great for anti frizz and great shine.
His hair is pretty: )
I didn't understand that either.. but she had a wig on her head so, who knows...
I am Korean and I saw a sad story about mixed-race curly hair on TV some years ago. A Korean man had visited Africa for studing or work(I can't remember) and met a woman at there. They fell in love and got merried. After few years in Africa, they came to Korea together. They had three children and lived happily. However, the woman died from illness. Their olddest daughter was a teenager having problem with her curly hair but the man couldn't help her. He had never handled those curly hair before. He cried. That was so sad... Now I guess the girl grew up and become twenties.
i was wincing from the way they were combing those children's hair. and the girl at the end started way too high up, forcing that comb down like that. i'd be very surprised if she didn't break off quite a bit of hair. sigh.
this is wrong ur suppose to detangle with a wide tooth comb to prevent breakage
no Buenos combing her hair with a fine tooth comb my daughter has a similar texture and that would pull her hair right out!!!
If your hair is healthy and you are happy with it, there's nothing wrong with it.
@Trkallstr28 I didn't mean to come off like that. But me personally if my boys hair looked like that & people thought he was my little girl instead...I would cut his hair.
My hair is of Olympia's texture, and I don't (even though my grandparents(and THEIR grandparents) were half White..) consider myself "mixed race"- I'm Black- and proud( even though my race is questioned DAILY..).. There is NO one group that has a monopoly on a certain "type" of hair or "look". That's just ridiculous. My sister's hair is even straighter, and is she not Black? I envy my BFF hair. It's of coarser texture, and so much more durable than mine!..lol..Seems at times that my hair breaks just LOOKING at it! The whole typing system is a JOKE, and ONLY serves to divide. The straighter hair(as always..) is at the top, the kinkiest at the bottom. WHY? It could have easily been the other way around...
It's not that hard wash it condition it sit under dryer and style
If a black woman and can't handle a MIXED child's hair then there's a lot of problems with that lol. Apparently u can't do ur own hair too well either i bet
That is why her dumb ass is wearing a weave.LOL!! All that little girls hair needs is water and conditioner , and her black mother can't handle even that ....Yep there is a problem for sure.
Atlast she is willing to learn
see people its not just black biracial kids can have kiny hard to comb hair to
That little boy is in Heaven lol
Because he can't cut it later.
But I'm mad at the title tho because I have curly as well and I'm black ;/
Was just thinking the same thing o_O
the little girl is cute!!!!
singer
i know. the tittle though...really? O_o
Run Matilda!
There hair is nappy as shit, but once they train it that one time it shouldnt take that much maintenece, trust i have hari like that and now i just wash scrunch and goooo
The girl has really Thick hair like me:) but it's hard to detangle it
Olive oil detangles any hair type!
this was really mean and uncalled for. yet i laughed at it a little. smfh. the chill button is just non-existent on the internet.
Some people in Northern Africa have Asian ancestry. Just saying.
Wow guys, obviously the first child was a little girl...hence the jewelry and the fact that they called her MATILDA. The second child was a boy, named SETH.
AND WHO CARES IF THE MOTHER WEARS A WIG!
*sighs*
BRITISH PEOPLE! ^_^
Ppl should learn to keep their son's hair cut at a reasonable length, regardless of quality of hair. And why are you using a fine tooth comb? You could achieve this with less damage using a plastic flat back thermal brush and good conditioner.
I think the real question is: Why did Whomever or Whatever make you so offensive?
I can understand a white person not knowing how to take care of afro-textured hair, but it's a damn shame when black women don't even know how to do their own child's hair, I mean this black women's kids are mixed, their hair isn't even all that kinky! But judging by that cheap wig on her head it's no wonder, I'm sure she doesn't even know how to do her own, outside of weaves and relaxers, pathetic. How are you going to teach your children to be proud of who they are when you're not even proud enough to wear your hair the way it naturally grows out of your scalp. -_- There are way to many black women today who claim to be "black and proud" all the while chasing someone else's idea of beauty that they will never attain, truly sad.
u're completely right, i think the the same !!
i wanna give u a medal for realism
I was thinking the same thing. My kids are mixed. Her kids hair look more kinky to me through. But anyway that wig. Oh no she didn't!
Same thoughts.SMH.
DNA khp0% t
I don't know why this is a big deal. The little girl's hair is like every other Black persons hair.
No, it doesn't.
strange, i thought a black mum would know how to care for a mixed childs hair more so than the white mum.
wrong.... African hair comes in many different textures, so really it is African hair in this video.
There's no such thing as "mixed race" hair. Her hair looks like it's in the 3b-3c category in hair types.
I know African people with hair like this and even looser....
Most black women don`t know how to deal with nice soft hair, don`t ever rip your kids hair out.
Speak....vat🧐
curly hair shud never be detangled when dry or without a wide tooth comb....pooor baby
samirah erwin...If a woman who claims to be 'black' has that hair texture, she doesn't realize that she is mixed race to some level.
***** I have hair of a 'mixed' girl and I am black.
***** If you've seen mixed kids with 4 grade hair, they are mostly African. One can still be mixed but with more of a certain race.
Roniah Hardy Don't kid yourself. Your culture is "black" but technically, you must be some level of mixed. African people don't have mixed hair.
***** There is a such a thing as mixed race hair. My mother's white gene pool meant that I have looser curls than my father's black side and their tight curls.
Black doesn't mean you are 100% African, unless you're straight from Africa. If your ancestors have been in the US (or other countries, like some in South America or the Caribbean) since the slave trade began chances are you have some European and even native lineage. Black, in terms of ancestry and DNA means you have African ancestry not that you have only African ancestry, like black American, black Brazilian, or black Cuban because of the slave trade, taboo interracial sexual relations (consensual and nonconsensual).
Why am I watching this? I'm white... lol
This is strange. Maybe the mum is bald under that wig.
She acts like she's never combed her own hair..anybody would kno not to start from the roots
Lol that's sad that the black woman of the mixed race child doesn't even know how to do the kids hair xD
just because shes black doesnt mean she knows.how to manage mixed race curly hair like ours.
OMG ARE U PEOPLE SERIUOS!!!!!SHE IS WILLING TO LEARN HOW TO TAKE CARE OF (HER ) CHILDS HAIR ALL SHE ASKS IS FOR SOME ADVICE TO LEARN HOW TO MANAGE IT. ALL OF U ARE SERIOUSLY HORRIBLE.
That's a boy??? I thought he was a she.
It really bugs me when black women claim to have hair like ours. Or claim that we are the same race as them. Not that one is better but our hair is not the same.
mixedchick4U you really are a special kind of stupid...If you are bi racial what do you think that bi is for? Both races you are two races you can't not be non of them! How pathetic you just have issues...oh well keep hating yourself
Rubbish!
