  • We are replacing rotten dock pilings and X bracing with new pilings and then wrap them with Piling wrap to prevent Torito worms from eating into the poles.

Love your videos. Surprised the team member using the chainsaw on the piling wasn't wearing safety glasses. These outside stringers look like they're 2X10. I like the way they cover and extend above the the decking edges. Looks pretty solid. What's the approximate distance from the top of the cross braces to the bottom? Also, is there a better alternative to the cross braces then wood?

And with a dull ass chain saw.

Interesting project. I have a 12 post dock (4x4 pressure treated) where the posts are starting to wear and holding a 15 foot pontoon boat is getting risky. I want to replace all 12 posts. The dock is about 30 years old and the wood is weathered. Is it possible to simply swap out the existing 12 posts with new ones? It's off our shore, maybe 3 to 8 feet on a slope from dry land.

Thanks for your question. If I understand correctly, do you want to swap out some old pilings on your dock. What you can do is go about 3 to 4 foot either side of that Piling with a brace down to the bottom the support the dock if you’re worried about the dock caving in to hold the dock up while you’re replacing the pole
      Hopefully this helps

Calvin Sniff I’m not sure what you’re calling headers but our cross ties/girders are 2 x 8 and so is the framing 👍
