House Of The Dragon Episode 10 is almost upon us and it brings the incredible season to a close in what’s no doubt going to be a big send off to not only the show but also a couple of characters.
The trailer for it is now out and throughout this video we’re gonna be breaking it down, talking about the events in the book and also what point we think the season is gonna end at.
Because of this there’ll be some major spoilers so if you don’t want it ruined then I recommend you turn off now. The show doesn’t adapt things 100% but stuff is normally close enough that even talking about the book could burn it all down for you.
With that out the way, huge thank you for clicking this, now let’s get into the video.

Now the episode is called The Black Queen and as I’m sure you can guess, this is in reaction to what happened in episode 9. The council of the greens was formed and Aegon was crowned the King. Most of the realm now see Rhaenyra as illegitimate and thus she has to call together the people that still support her and the blacks. We have seen the Greens murdering people who dissent from them and this of course makes several houses realise that they are trying to rule through fear. They view it at high treason and it strengthens their word.
Most of the houses swore oaths to Rhaenyra all the way back in 105 AC and though some of the heads have died since then most still stand by their oaths. This is very much going to mirror the last episode with people swearing loyalty to the blacks whereas 9 had it to the greens.
Now whereas last week centred around the Green Council, Rhaenyra would eventually go onto form the council of the Blacks who I believe we see in this episode standing around the painted table.
We see Rhaenys arriving at Dragonstone on the back of her beast fresh off the back of Episode 9.
Quick correction from our episode 9 breakdown and I said that her dragon was Meraxes. I actually couldn’t remember the name but I remembered it started with an M and just googled Rhaenys dragon M and that was what came up. Probably changed up now because of the popularity of it but before it Meraxes was the top result. The parchment Rhaenyra is holding is the page that Rhaenyra ripped from the book while sitting under the tree years ago with Alicent. It’s a sign of good will and friendship from Alicent after stealing her kingdom and offering terms
I hope the scene in the courtyard is just Lucerys on his way out of court and onto his dragon to take off so the fight can fully happen in the air.🤺🐲

Rhaenys did ride maraxes, but there are two rhaeyns. Rhaenys the first was one of Aegon the conquerors wife. One of the original 3 heads of the dragon. The rhaenys in this show is a descendent of them. And she rides Meylys

Lucerys -did not try to fight Aemon at Storms End. He- and Jace had sworn to their mother an oath that they would go out on their alliance seeking missions as envoys, and they would not fight anyone.
Dreamfyre is the 2nd oldest dragon, she was originally a hatchling bonded to Rhaena, the elder sister of Jaehaerys + Alysanne. Vermithor & Silverwing both hatched from eggs Rhaena placed in her (much) younger siblings cribs.
I'm grouping the list by the relative ages, as I remember them from F&B

There are 3 wild adult dragons on Dragonstone, their ages and size aren't precisely stated, but I'd guess their ages in descending order are Cannibal/ Grey Ghost/ Sheepstealer.
Every dragon listed under Syrax & Seasmoke are basically juvenile dragons. Dragons with an * are allied with the Greens & Aegon the Unwilling.

Dreamfyre was 4-5 years older than vermithor but dreamfyre usually Was kept in dragonpit which halted her Growth by alot.
In the books its stated that During the dance, Vermithor was biggest dragon after Vhagar.
Cannibal was born during jaehaerys' reign, This is stated in books, And during DoD, Cannibal was just a tad bit Smaller than Vermithor.
Then 4th biggest dragon was Sheepstealer and then dreamfyre.

I really disliked Daemon in the early episodes but he quickly became my favorite character. He may be a bit of a wild child and doesn’t take authority very well, but he loves his family and will fight to the death to protect his family. The way his presence commands attention and submission from others without even having to say a word; such a great character!
Martin writes his characters as neither traditionally good or bad- as in most instances people are more complex than this.

So there's reason why people see it a different way from your take. Is Daemon a great guy, No! Tho He is far from completely evil & bad also. I was blown away by the details in the coronation. It felt like watching Nicholas II being crowned in an Orthodox ceremony with all the hollow pomp & circumstance of a rotting system. It's what I'd always envisioned from a GoT coronation. Tom Glynn-Carney was terrific in bringing out Aegon's fear, hesitation, pride & euphoria all at once. I'm glad they kept the much despised Criston putting the Conqueror's crown on Aegon II's head. The Kingmaker is born! What the show's doing really well is the details, down to splitting the treasury or locking up servants. Usually the passionate debates, the treachery, the heartbreak are glossed over & we only see the regime change as "fait accompli". This bring to life the mechanism that historically goes behind a coup, which I assume is as emotionally taxing for the people seizing power. That's why I like agonized & conflicted Alicent more than her steadfast source counterpart. It feels more flesh & blood. She vacillates but her messianic fear for her children fates her to make a cursed gamble.

Hightowers are definitely trying to steal the throne and they were plotting to take it from the beginning. Viserys should got rid of all those snakes a long time ago . Rhynaera got too cocky and she should’ve been by her father from the time she saw him on his death bed . She messed up by leaving and should of just sent her kids away .
I guess they would have captured her if she stayed like what happened with rhenys.
Kingslanding was very pro high tower.

Filming for the second season doesn’t start until Spring 2023, I believe they said season 2 will come out early 2024 so it’ll be a while unfortunately.

I don't think the Meleys scene breaking through the Dragonpit was necessary. I know it's fan service to give Rhaenys her BADASS MOMENT but it made her look bad towards the commoners.
I already liked Rhaenys before that scene. I see her and Viserys as the only two "adults" in this series. The only ones rational and a voice of reason. I already knew Rhaenys was a badass knowing what happens to her at the end. The scene wasn't needed to confirm that.
Perhaps the scene gives the common folks a more valid reason to storm the Dragonpit later on. But this also gives the dragon an excuse to escape if Meleys could break through. I only saw that scene as added fan service for Team Black and people who likes Rhaenys which I already did by Ep 5.
I really hope the next episode is not too dark. I have a hard time seeing some major scenes.
Just change your video settings on tv. I have to use Bright - which ruins the scenes with a blue tint but it helps me see. Hoping to upgrade to a OLED by Christmas to improve this common issue

Daemon singing to Vermithor looks AWESOME! I can't wait for this episode. I can't wait for season 2 either, ugh. I guess I'll re-read Fire & Blood in the mean time. Or maybe start a feet pic enterprise. Who knows.
Also about the valyrian steel swords; Darksister and Blackfyre again are on opposing sides of a Targaryen civil war when Daemon Blackfyre wields his namesake while Brynden Rivers (aka the Three-Eyed Crow/Raven) wields Darksister in the first Blackfyre rebellion that takes place 67ish years after Viserys' death. A lot of history with these famed blades.

You cannot make a Dragon 🔥 obey. Aemond chases Lucerys on Dragonback through stormy skies with Vhagar. Lucerys on Arrax's back tries to escape but his Dragon spits fire on Vhagar, he retaliates by choking Arrax is Lucerys. This drama will make Black Queen Rhaenyra more hesitant, finished the negotiations! war is declared.

Rhaenys hasn't read Fire & Blood to know of horrors to come. So her pre-emptively nuking half her own family would've been OP. Having said that, the Rhaenys bit was to give audience a 'send home happy' moment which wasn't necessary. The coronation was fantastic in itself. But gawd forbid the ''bad guys' are on top in one episode. Those who thought lowborns of KL have any obligation to support Rhaenyra are in for big disappointments. Aegon claims his birthright from the popular King Jaehaerys' Great Council stating king's firstborn male son is next king. Viserys himself won it over Rhaenys like that. Best part of this was the politics, less dragons the better. Despairing mom version of alicent does highlight her humanity more than the colder iteration of the actual green council. A well needed adjustment imo but also a continuation of her Harrenhall or knife scene mistake. They've constantly shown subtleties in her character which audience wilfully ignores since we're watching this as a team sport and gotta cheer team lovable manipulative dad. Her being more humanized shouldn't be an issue unless one wants the show to remain grotesquely tilted towards Black (Laenor death,Rhae-Vaemond)
