"The Forerunners have returned...this tomb, is now yours."
Such as badass line!
Lol
Just like Joshua Graham from FONV. Same voice actor tho😂
It's noticeable while Didact call Sangheilis as beast he talks to John-117 as his equal. Probably because humans were only civilization that went toe to toe with Forerunners.
Someone teached him that line and it was not a forerruner. It was a precursor who said that once

Especially if you've read the books and know the whole story of the Didact. If Chief had any idea who the Didact was, he would be running for his life lol. Still mad about Halo 4's ending. The Didact should have been the main villain and his redemption arc in Epitaph should have happened in the games. He could then help and fight the Flood in the Precursors' final test to test Humanity

I am once again asking why the Didact wasn't the main villain of the new trilogy/saga. You can't just name a character "Shadow of Sundered Star" then kill him off immediately, shit is criminal
Because the writers didn’t know what the fuck they wanted to do.
My homie the didact is the harbinger in halo infinite
I'm just as pissed as you, too; they need to rectonn Halo 5 and restart the whole thing with a massive re-write and refocusing on that saga's storyline, and bring back the Didact as the central villain of Halo 5 & 6, and not just Halo 4.
Maybe if the Didact returns as a Promethean...
@@Jedilord882 To be fair they actually kinda did, it's just that the fan backlash to Spartan Ops made them reconsider a second season which is why Halo 5 is practically telling a different story.
after fighting the technologically superior covenant since Halo 1 its such a mega moment when the Didact calls them primitives.
The reasoning is simple. The Didact already fought (and defeated) a far more technologically superior humanity than the one we have in the lore now. The covenant are nothing more than insects to him.
Read the lore and you'll realise the Covies are basically stone men to the Forerunners, they are insanely advanced, the rings, the Ark, the shield worlds, not even close to their most advanced tech
@@Jedilord882 Seems like the war could have gone either way, didn't it take the Didact thousands of years of war to finally defeat humanity? Wars don't last long unless both sides are evenly matched.
@@03chrisv it took thousands of years but keep in mind we’re talking about a universe in which empires span thousands of planets and have armadas and warships in the thousands. It makes perfect sense for the war to take that long, especially since their lifespans are significantly longer.
@@Jedilord882 I'm sure humanity wasn't an easy fight for the forerunner and they suffered losses along the way. It's probably why the flood overtook the Forerunner so easily as they were weakened by the war with humanity.

So for the first time, it's all Master Chief's fault. I mean the Flood in the Halo games were almost always the Covenant's fault. Accidentally releasing the flood and stuff. But for the first time in Halo history, Master Chief gets played into releasing the bad guy. I love this game.

Seeing a demonic figure you and your religious brothers feared - known to have destroyed multiple sacred rings, get destroyed effortlessly by the God(s) you worship. This only sealed their faith.

Although I feel that he wasn't fully utilized in halo 4. I disagree that je was "wasted" he is the perfect reversal of chief. A child warrior mutated and enhanced to save his species from extinction. But unlike chief, his species lost their war. He's the last one left. It's the perfect dichotomy. If chief was the last human, it wouldn't be to farfetched to assume he'd continue his war. The heavy back neck armour was most likely there to keep infection forms away
Killing off the Didact in this game was the worst mistake 343 had ever made, he could have easily become the primary antagonist for whatever Reclaimer Saga they were planning starting with this game; their very own Darth Vader for their Reclaimer Saga.
"Even these beasts recognise what you are oblivious to, Human. You're nobility has blinded you, as ever"
That is such a cool fucking dialogue dude. God i wish Didact was the main villain in Halo 5.
Though the covenant are very technologically advanced, the Didact sees them as primitive, at least compared to forerunners.
Same 😔
@@shortfusedkinda He see’s them as primitive compared to humans and forerunners because while sangheli were primitive hunter garhers in their earliest years, humanity was simultaneously an interstellar empire almost on par with the forerunners. In Halo lore humans are at least 1 million years old.
@@Jedilord882
Not ‘almost’, they WERE on par with the Forerunners.
The only reason humanity lost is because they were hit from two sides by the Flood and the Forerunners.
@@CeruleanSword nah forerunners in general had a larger empire of 3 million world’s across the Galaxy while humanity had 20,000
Lets be honest the Didact is probably the best villain in the halo universe, all the others were either religious fanatics like the profits or just mindlessly aggressive like the brutes and earlier elites but the Didact was just pure intent, no emotion or delusion involved, just intellect and savagery. Even his name sounds fuckin evil, a mean Shadow-of-sundered-star. Fuckin brilliant man lol
Didact was so well written but so poorly executed. I get that 343 is putting efforts to making the story rich and vast but the game kinda turned sour. I still love all Halos from 1-5. Better than any other FPS games.
Brotherhood of Nod The Didact, at least in the games, is similar to the Gravemind in the sense that he knows far more about the state of the Milky Way Galaxy, its history and inevitable future than the Chief or Cortana. Cortana might've gotten a glimpse of the Gravemind's/Didact's true knowledge during the time she spent on High Charity, but it appears that the part of Cortana we got to see in Halo 5 is the part that was terrified by what the Gravemind told her and therefore decided to use the Guardians in order to prevent the Galaxy from meeting a grim fate. This fate will undoubtedly involve the Flood/Precursors, but I feel like the scale is going to be intergalactic this time around.
Brotherhood of Nod It's just my interpretation, but you're welcome nonetheless.
Haha no
He was a great villain... but was he the Best one?
*Ehhhh* ...
I loved the Didact’s character, wish he stayed for halo 5. He was defeated too easily
The Didact had so much potential as a villain, if he was executed better and stayed in the games, Halo 5 would've been a much better game.

@Heath Thomas, no it was perfect that he was defeated so easily. Made me like his character even more. He was still trying to get out of the massive sleep inertia / brain fog caused by 10000 years of slumber. He had a 'second chance'. But second chance to do what? I don't know. He certainly had no clue what to do. He was a sad, disoriented OLD MAN. Very tragic. I'm not sure if 343 intended to portray him that way, but it was perfect. I'm so happy that he wasn't some kind of overpowered super-hard-to-defeat boss. He was more important to the story, not to the gameplay.

You exhausted the thread of both the flood and the covenant. Why not have an actual forerunner be your next primary antagonist?
If we think about it, the Flood was the true villain of this series. A Gravemind corrupted the Didact to the point of betrayal, destroyed the Forerunners and caused a chain of events to transpire.
The flood have always been the true enemy. Right now they’re just contained
The Flood was also partially responsible for the fall of the covenant
The 3 prophets are as well, honestly. They needlessly manipulated the entire Covenant into hating and trying to exterminate the humans, all to keep their seat of power.

Such an amazing set up for a killer villain that you never actually get to fight...
To be fair, the Didact isn't some Brute chieftain or hunter that chief can sidestep. I think there was a comic where it took all of blue team to beat a weakened Didact.
Because the master chief would never be able to fight him. It would be like a toddler trying to fight a full grown adult, in the comics we see a weaker version of the him wipe out an entire Squad of Spartan 2s and it takes the entirety of blue team to even scratch him
To be fair it took an entire Spartan team to have a chance to beat him, the Didact is a Promethean he can see multiple different timelines at once and use that to formulate a combat strategy within nano seconds, and if he wasnt alone if there were other Prometheans he would be near unstoppable
