She's trying to ride English but needs lessons badly. Toes are down heels are up legs dangling all over. Falls forward instead of sitting back with a straight back. In English riding you should have your shoulders elbows and heels all in one line.
This video disturbs me. She had opportunities to walk her horse away but instead turned him around to face the horses again who now have lost interest in her horse. The added dramatic music is to enhance the viewers belief she ‘has to face down the danger’! Lady, you are the danger in your horse’s life!
Too many Arabian enthusiasts think their horses need to behave like this to be admirable. It’s really sad to see this little horse being “controlled” with pain. He would have much better character with some good training.
I'm a woman, and Rick doesn't offend me one bit. Been in the horse business 30+ years and sooo tired of the sugar coated crap. Rick tells it like it is and most of the time I think it and then he says it. I'm not a perfect rider/owner but there are way too many wanna be horsemen and women out there. Love the videos.
Love u so much Rick!!! I'm 13yrs and I have learned so much from u. My mom and I watch ur vids all day and make so many connections to our horses after watching ur vids, I have fixed a lot of problems cuz of u. Thx so much!!!
I think most people don't even know they are hurting the horse with the bit. I think there is a HUGE ignorance on this. We are improving but still very brutal age.
This girl is obviously ignorant...she could get killed in the situation. Putting a horse in a stressful situation, especially a stallion, spells trouble.
A painful video. This woman is showing off to the person fiming trying to behave like someone in a bad Western film. As Rick says I feel for the beautiful horses they have it the hardest because people who know nothing about horsemanship want to look good. It's not even about riding the horse it's all about how they think they look.
This makes me wonder how he would have behaved around those horses without her on him. He’s exhibiting stallion behavior, but at the same time looks very insecure to me. It’s awful to watch him being forced into this awkward position from a herd’s social point of view. That’s got to be super stressful for him and weird mixed messages to the other horses.
She doesnt know jack about riding. What i have figured out about some people just because they can buy a horse doesn't mean they know how to ride. They go out and get a stallion and an Arabian at that, because they think they are cool. The pink hat and the tight reins, she's probably scared, or to inexperienced to know the what she is in. I also know that just because someone has learned to ride doesn't make them an expert.
These people keep their horses as stallions so the necks are bigger and with tie down it makes the horse look real pretty with its bowed neck in show ring and they'll get ribbons for it,!! I kid you not this is the only reason they keep them as stallions. As for video I kinda would love the herds stallion to appear and see how fast she rides off.
I forget it’s name, but there was a very famous Turnier horse in Europe who’s neck got permanently injured because of the tie down he was consistently subjected to.At some point during its “ career” sold to a famous rider and breeder in that circle who of course used the same method. A bit of an internal scandal ensued, but that was all. The industry closes ranks.
Ya know Rick, being a woman who loves pink, initially I was offended by your videos. Thankfully I have thick skin. I know how to eat the meat and spit out the bones and a lot of what you say makes perfect sense. This was absolutely an accident waiting to happen. Your videos are also hilarious which is a nice bonus. Thanks for sharing! 😅
What I see is a stupid human woman torturing her horse while harassing other horses. And the music they added to the video was shameful, so dramatic. I think it speaks to the intent of the video. Shame!
That horse should be taken away from her. Maybe she was trying to show off but why would you encourage or knowingly put him in that kind of situation? Yeah that could have gone real bad. Talk about a set up for failure. Like they say, you are either a good example or a horrible warning. Kids watching, here is a warning.
Dude.....I don't believe what she was doing. She was driving him closer. She shouldn't own that stud if she doesn't know what she's doing and yes, stallions are dangerous. That just irritates the living crap outta me!!!! She has no experience what so ever!!!!
She probably wanted to brag: "See, I can ride and control a hot stallion." Of course she can with all those extra aids she's using where the horse couldn't even carry his neck normally.
She’s definitely taking an unnecessary risk by doing this, but at the same time she’s incredibly lucky that nothing happened (as far as we know) next time she does this could be her last ride so i really hope that this was just her pretending to be hard for the camera and not something she does regularly 🤔 great video Rick ! I’m sorry about the barn witches that keep bugging you, i hope you know that your real viewer actually listen to what you say and try to learn how to give our horses a better life
This rider is so ignorant. My favorite horse, Danny, was a Arab stud. I rode him bitless for many years. He was a kind horse, but definitely had a mind of his own. But I knew his horse mind was sound. We partnered for years, successfully and joyfully. I would suggest this gal do several things. She needs to get on a colder horse. That horse is way to much for a novice rider. She needs a knowledgeable riding trainer. She needs to learn how to tack up correctly. She needs to learn to control her emotions. She needs to stop being so darn fearful. She needs to learn horse society behavior. And, yes, she needs to lose the pink hat. Lol.
My question is why did she stay there in the first place? If they're on a trail ride they should've just passed by if they encountered other horses. * Also, correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think they are wild horses. If they were wild I'd assume they'd be more nervous, distant, and/or territorial of a horse and rider. Not to mention the horse was most likely a stallion. Either way I think the girl just wasted her time staying there. God knows what she was tying to accomplish.
Man she has no idea how much stress she caused all the horses in this video. Nothing tells me more about how awful a rider is then seeing TONS of gear on horses. The more gear I see some one use on a horse the more I just shake my head. I like to use the the least amount of gear so I know I'm using my body right. Just a saddle pad, saddle and rope halter is all I'll ever ride with
Aw thanks. We got hit with a pretty big snow storm and are dealing with nasty cold weather so there's not much I can do right now. I thought by now i'd be all set. Nope! lol
Always & as usual... ALWAYS on point!!! (... also, u rock Rick!!!! I love it!- every time I watch one of your videos, u have 1,000 more subscribers!!!... u r truly making a difference in the horse community!!!- so proud of u!!!!)
Turn in the opposite direction. Don’t just stand there . Especially on a stallion. Take their mind away from that idea. Move forward and away. Never taunt a stallion . She could have been seriously hurt. The more a stallion is allowed to feed into this behavior and not given direction, allows time for the horse to do what he wants to do.
Years ago I was riding my dad's mare on our farm when a stallion from a neighboring farm got onto our property. He came after me and my horse with a vengeance. I managed to get over a fence (with seconds to spare). This woman is a fool to take a chance like this.
I don’t even understand what she’s trying to accomplish. She lets the horse walk where it wants; them suddenly moves it somewhere else. She’s like half controlling him. She lets him continue his inappropriate behavior and doesn’t divert his attention and move along the trail. Is she trying to desensitize him to be around other horses? Cause this isn’t the way to do it lol.
She is so stupid!!! It looked like to me, she had turned the Arabian Stud around. She really has no control over him. If she had control over the Arabian, he would have just kept walking instead of turning around. The girl is the one causing all the problems it is not the horse. She turned the stud around to challenge the other stud which is a stupid move on her part. She thought is was cute.......yeah right!!!!
Too many people who don't know about horses get a stallion. Sure they look great but there's a sharp learning curve for handling a stallion. The horse is smarter than the rider and the horse knows it. Yes,that is a stallion and you are totally right about it all. That Arabian is gorgeous. Always loved the grays. Too bad his beauty is marred but his human's stupidity. I think it's a stallion, maybe a young inexperienced one as someone pointed out. But she's definitely asking to get hurt
Please RicK, can you comment on how to behave in a situation similar to this one? For example - one is riding happily about and suddenly there is this unexpected surprise of stray horses that come out of nowhere and they want to check the horse out on which I'm sitting....If they are not close up, I would turn and canter away from them, hoping they dont come after us. But what if they are to close? Should one yell at them, trying to put pressure on them with the riding whip? I moved into an area where a scenario like this could easily happen and it would be good for me to know before hand how to react if I get cought in a tight place like this.... THanks man, (from a lady with a pink hat ;)
Dang I have been doing it all wrong all these years....not. I started out bareback with nothing but a bolo and a single rein. There are just so many things wrong with what is going on in this video. I stand with you on this one Rick. She really didn't know what she was doing.
I dont get why people gotta hurt horses like they do. omgosh Im cringing with looking at the horse's face and all I see is pain happening to his poor sensitive mouth. O_O the woman has no business being on the horse if she cant ride, especially with pain devices.
Gosh, if you "need" to tie down your horse, then you've seriously messed things up and should really start at zero. What the heck is she doing there anyway?
Painful to watch. You're spot on with your analysis. I'm left wondering what in the world is she doing? Let's hope to god that she doesn't own a pit bull or any dog, for that matter. Her fearful attitude will cause anxiety and aggression in any animal.
That poor horse with that tie down!!! These man and woman witches that do this to horses need to have their husbands wives girlfriends or boyfriends to put spurs on and put boys and tie downs and whips on them and use it on them since they so into dominance on their submissive partners and leave the animals alone and out of it
The tie down doesnt hurt the horse, it keeps it from raring up, she is using a English saddle with a english saddle you cant be having a horse rating up it will throw you off
@@mark-uh9yd First off, it's not true that you must use tie downs when you ride in an English saddle... what the heck. You will fall off if you're a bad, unbalanced or just inexperienced rider, yes. If she's inexperienced and unbalanced, which she appears to be, then she a) should be wearing a hard riding hat (at the very least) and b) get on a calmer horse. Now to the tie down (which is actually a running martingale in this video): When the horse carries his head in a neutral position, there should be a straight line from the horse's mouth to the rider's hands - not like on this horse, where the reins are always pulled down. This is incorrectly fitted, and very uncomfortable for the horse, as there is constant downward pressure on the lower jaw. This is also how a running martingale tries to force the horse to lower its head after lifting it, by putting painful pressure on the lower jaw from downwards rein pressure. But in this case, the horse has no chance of escaping it as it constantly pulls down. It's just irresponsible and no one should think this is fine and defend it and then go on to do the same to their own horse. If you need to use auxillary reins, chances are you need to get a better trainer or educate yourself better. If the horse constantly carries the head too high, maybe he has back pain - does he also stick out the tail? Is the rider too heavy? Is the saddle a poor fit? Is it muscle pain? A horse needs strong belly muscles to carry a rider properly - it'd be a good idea to start building up those muscles. Without a rider, the horse is more likely to go into a long, low frame - maybe the horse needs to be lunged for a while and not ridden to loosen up the back. But again - lunging does not require auxillary reins, despite popular belief. High head carriage could also stem from fear - the horse might be constantly looking out for dangers. In this case, you'd work on the mental side to calm the horse down and start to trust you more. This is often a long process that you mustn't rush. If the problem is that the horse rears frequently, again this is something you need to work on (ideally from the ground!), and not something you will "solve" by trying to make it impossible or very painful for your horse to rear. You will just cause more problems.
That poor horse! She's hauling on his mouth and that damn martingale is so cruel. She should leave those wild horses alone, she's an accident waiting to happen and the horses get blamed. Always.
Dang Rick, when I was a kid riding my gelding bareback to round up cattle no one told me I needed a pink hat. They also forgot to tell me I needed a bridle, big bit and a martingale. Why it's just blind luck that I and my horse didn't kill each other, (snark.) We had a blast taking off with just a halter and rope reins to take care of business.
The horse is an Arabian or Arabian type but this woman, and I agree with you Rick, she is NOT using her head and is causing a serious problem. The horse is definitely acting upon instinct around the other horses. Instead of hanging around like she is doing, she needs to take the horse she’s riding slowly away from them, not towards them, but also if this horse she’s riding is being used to round up the others, clearly she is using the wrong horse for the job. If it’s a stallion, stallions can be unpredictable, and a gelding then should be used to round up the herd NOT stallions. I once rode a 4 year old Appaloosa stud colt and it gave me problems because of mares being near by, also it was testing me on how much I knew. It was intelligent and quickly picked up on my fears. I was a green rider at the time but thank God I knew enough to handle the situation well enough, and even though it was unnerving, I survived what could have become a serious accident, not only for me but also for the horse or others or anyone else near him. Later on after the scary ride was over, and I still think I did the wiser thing and walked him back to the main house on the ranch. Afternoon, the horse nudge me with his head on my back as if to say “I apologize, your okay”... I feel to this day he was saying he was sorry for what he did. The owners gave him the name Happy. He later was sold to another owner but I always wondered if anyone ever gelled him, because he was a bit mischievous in character.
Please do a video on megasus horse runners. They seem like a new horse shoe that seems good to me but I don't know about horses and that's why I want to see your opinion
We love you Rick! Btw. Thank you for Teaching me right... i made many mistakes while riding, i'm better at riding now becouse of you!❤ I like your humor! 😂💪👍 I'm 10th btw...
Looks to me like a stallion after a mare about to come in season. This woman has no business in the saddle on a stallion. And that tie down... that's a sure sigh of someone who's afraid of her horse.
The poor stallion is trying to do the normal horsey behaviour but the stupid human is clueless and scared and causing so many problems. omgosh I can only imagine what was going on in the mares minds too when the stallion was giving mixed cues to them (cause of stupid human forcing him away, when he is trying to get closer and do what horses do!)
This is Arabian. Their necks tilt like that, when they’re excited. The girl on the other hand.. doesn’t know how to ride or lead a horse, led alone Arabians that have anxious temperaments. Horses are herd animals, they seek a leader. Here, the horse is trying to figure out wtf is happening.. with that bag with a pink hat on top of her.
Arabians do not really have anxious temperaments. They are intelligent horses and if they don’t get to use that intelligence then they channel their energy other ways. Kind of like a Border Collie. They need a owner who will invest energy in them.
have you hear what stupid humans are starting to do with horses now? :( they do something so "They run faster, jump higher, and might be comin to te Olympics" They also say that "The first genetically engineered super horse could be born by 2019" It's horrible how selfish humans are.
I don't see the beauty of an over-bred horse or a horse who is forced to be in pain. But knowing the horse competitive world, people will do anything for money. It's so demoralizing and pointless. Using others' suffering for our profit.
Diba De i agree. Humans are so selfish, it's terrible. It makes me sad just thinking about it. There is nothing beautiful about a horse that have a miserable life so humans can use them like they are robots.
I remember as a kid I would question in my mind what some of my trainers were saying and telling me to do. I'm glad I watch these videos because a lot of the time I'll watch a video of someone doing something that a trainer would do and basically verifies for me that, I wasn't wrong in questioning what I was being told to do. I don't take lessons anymore because I see a lot of the same stuff over and over from a lot of trainers in ohio. Wish I had someone out here like you rick. Thanks for the vids :)
I want a t-shirt that says "Shut up, ya big dummies!"

Kathy Bradbury He would be a much better horse with a better human. That doesn’t believe in causing him pain!

Bad rider in so many ways. Whip, spurs, tiedown = poor judgement just to get a video showing her pretty horse.
What is she trying to prove ?? What’s the purpose ?
She is definitely antagonizing the other horses with her horse....like a “human horse bully”!

THanks man, (from a lady with a pink hat ;)
and....buddy and mr t you're GOOD BOYS!!
1:15 yes, I do believe the horse she is riding is in fact a stallion.
I come to the videos for the
“Rick why are you- SHUT UP”
Alexis Graystorm cracks me up too
Dang I have been doing it all wrong all these years....not.
Why on earth is she riding the horse into the wild heard
a disaster waiting to happen 🤦🤦🤦🤦🤦🤦🤦🤦🤦🤦
Gosh, if you "need" to tie down your horse, then you've seriously messed things up and should really start at zero. What the heck is she doing there anyway?
Painful to watch.
You're spot on with your analysis.
I'm left wondering what in the world is she doing? Let's hope to god that she doesn't own a pit bull or any dog, for that matter. Her fearful attitude will cause anxiety and aggression in any animal.
But riiiiiiiiiiick!
That poor horse with that tie down!!! These man and woman witches that do this to horses need to have their husbands wives girlfriends or boyfriends to put spurs on and put boys and tie downs and whips on them and use it on them since they so into dominance on their submissive partners and leave the animals alone and out of it
The tie down doesnt hurt the horse, it keeps it from raring up, she is using a English saddle with a english saddle you cant be having a horse rating up it will throw you off
@@mark-uh9yd
First off, it's not true that you must use tie downs when you ride in an English saddle... what the heck.
Always.
To me, the "dramatic" music is a clue, no?
I think so too.
Does she have, I think she's got spurs on.....video is not clear, but i do think she's got spurs.
Agree with you, probably the reason why her toes are down :S
I think! NO WAIT I KNOW!!!! THERE IS NO COMMON SENSE IN THE WORLD!!!
LMAO No there ISN'T is there.
Too much to read. You said that’s an Arabian horse and she is ??....
@@evelynvega1730 It's barely a paragraph. Easy read.
the horse knows she's inexperienced
Please do a video on megasus horse runners. They seem like a new horse shoe that seems good to me but I don't know about horses and that's why I want to see your opinion
We love you Rick!
Btw. Thank you for Teaching me right... i made many mistakes while riding, i'm better at riding now becouse of you!❤
I like your humor! 😂💪👍
I'm 10th btw...
Looks to me like a stallion after a mare about to come in season. This woman has no business in the saddle on a stallion. And that tie down... that's a sure sigh of someone who's afraid of her horse.
The bit looks so tight in the horses mouth
The poor stallion is trying to do the normal horsey behaviour but the stupid human is clueless and scared and causing so many problems. omgosh I can only imagine what was going on in the mares minds too when the stallion was giving mixed cues to them (cause of stupid human forcing him away, when he is trying to get closer and do what horses do!)
Poor horse
The pink hat is courage!! 😂
Rick I agree with you. That look like a accident waiting to happen.
The rider seemed pretty disconnected long before the stud decided to approach those horses.
. How to ruin a good horse. If you can’t ride an animal without hurting it, then don’t ride.
That's crap she's harassing those other horses with her horse... smh
I love ricks honesty
have you hear what stupid humans are starting to do with horses now? :( they do something so "They run faster, jump higher, and might be comin to te Olympics" They also say that "The first genetically engineered super horse could be born by 2019" It's horrible how selfish humans are.
Just read about that, it's pretty crazy.
There is nothing beautiful about a horse that have a miserable life so humans can use them like they are robots.
sickening.
I think it's pretty obvious that stupid is what stupid does. Pink is fine but all that hardware is ridiculous. The Arab is beautiful, tho.
..... it's a mare, mate.
sorvern it's not dude....
pretty clearly is, my guy. google 'horse'. you might learn something new.
“Shut up you big dummies” I say this all the time now 😂😂 cracks me up every time I hear it lol
