    In Singapore, Model Y Performance cost USD200k and Lexus Hybrid (non plug-in) cost USD300k. For the performance, low maintenance and running cost, Tesla is the common sense. 😊

    I have 1 car : the Hyundai ioniq5 5 and no problems, ANY, with charging. I charge at home, outside on my parking during the night. No more need to go ever to a gas station. Charging from 10 to 80% takes about 5h30 with a 11kW AC charge. My charger can go to 22kW but the car only accepts a maximum of 11kW... unfortunately

    The bad thing about a plug-in hybrid is that never use it as a full electric all the time. Our gas has ethanol in it. It will kill the engine if not run. I think the RAV-4 plugin is probably more in line with a Tesla.

    Used plug in hybrids are cheaper than full evs, just bought 2018 Chevy Volt, charges up to 53 miles, had it for over 2 weeks and still haven’t gone to a gas station, really enjoying it.

    Can you use this RX 450h+ (plug-in) without plugging it in? If electricity gets too expensive (I live in CA, prices getting way high recently), can I use this plug-in RX like an RX 350h and never plug it in? Or will this degrade the battery over time.

      @@EverydayChris Do you know if the 450h+ Plug-In can get fully charged by driving (maybe there is a mode that forces this)? Or the only way to fully charge the battery is by plugging it in?

    • @EverydayChris
      @EverydayChris  Před 3 měsíci

      @black_number_one yes. You can use the engine to charge the high voltage battery!

      You can charge the PHEV Traction battery by driving it in CHG Mode, but the charge rate is rather slow and I don’t think you can drive it in CHG Mode practically on freeways (at high speeds). It feels much slower and I believe it uses the gas-only 2.5L engine which only output 180HP without the Hybrid assist. But not exactly sure. You’re better off plugging it in overnight.. even if it’s from a 110V L1 outlet will still be done in 8 hours.

    Major problem with Plug-in Hybrid is if you deplete your battery then you are carrying that excess weight with your gasoline.

    Top-notch video! Lexus, hands down! Now, about the Tesla skepticism - they've got this whole "charge at 20%, cap at 80%" dance, slicing the EPA range from a robust 330 miles to a modest 198 miles. Factor in elevation, weather, highway speed, and presto - you're left with a real-world range of 158 miles (20% off 198 miles). Add that delightful suspension that turns every bump into a personalized greeting - not exactly a stellar combo.
    Now, let's flip the coin for Lexus - a whopping 450 miles of actual range, and oh, their suspension actually does its job. And hey, don't even get me started on their resale value - it's the cherry on top! 🚗💨

    Hybrids will rule for the next 10 years, at least. We are not ready for EV adoption yet. EVs are only for homeowners with dedicated garage who will use car for local and grocery shopping. For Long distance they're nightmare. Hertz regretted their Tesla renting.

    Right before I test drove the Tesla, I was leaning towards buying a Lexus (ICE). But I threw caution to the wind and went with a Tesla Model Y. I’m still on my honeymoon with my Tesla and I don’t think I could go back to any other car.

  • @mrlogboy

    For me a hybrid that you have to plug-in is an oxymoron. I had a 2011 Prius till last year and I got about 550 miles on it and I know that’s true because I would go on road trips where I would drive there and halfway back and then have to fill up and that was around 500 and some odd miles. And for us the Prius was very low maintenance because it has regenerative braking not the same as them Tesla but still it does and so I think in the entire 10 years or so I did the brakes once if I might not have never replaced the brakes cause again I usually would try to do regenerative braking.. and the battery is good enough and and for me I never had to replace the hybrid battery. It lasted all that time and had full charge and you could see when we were going downhill and stuff like that cause then on this trip one way uphill, one way downhill, so Lexus are amazing cars but yes, amazing cars come with amazing price. For me I’m just like well. If you have to plug it in when just get a full plug-in electric car, they should really have a process where the engine recharges the battery and or regenerative breaking. That would make a amazing car. Almost perfect.

      Hybrid cars run on engine at all times while using battery for supplemental power. Plug in hybrid can run in battery only for a limited range.

    This Lexus is 25 year old engineering from the Prius. $76,000 34MPG laughable. Twice the failure points with twice the complications. Toyota is failing and this is what you get. The world is running out of oil. Pollution is just 25% less from hybrid cars. This is not the future

    • @jysfo5728
      @jysfo5728 Před 3 měsíci +1

      Despite technically having more failure points, the hybrids have been more reliable than their gas versions and more reliable than most other gas vehicles...

      Yeah it’s really meant for local driving for running errands and short communities to work, and you use the gas/hybrid for long range trips. The PHEV motor is also helps with the overall torque and combined MPG / MPGe.
      We have both a fully electric ‘22 Audi e-Tron and this ‘24 Lexus RX 450H+. The Audi is nice locally but we absolutely suffer on range (approx 200 miles at full charge), while the Lexus is the best of both worlds. Audi’s gotten a little better with range now, but with the lack of available chargers in So California still, it’s not worth the hassle. On the other hand, we never worry about the distance with the Lexus. We avg 48 mpg combined with gas hybrid, and bout 80 MPGe with electric only mode. From example, we’ve driven back and forth locally and short freeway distances across span of a week with charging at home nightly for 2 hours on a L2 charger. Total driven across one typical week: about 350 miles. Total gas used: less than 1/8 a tank. Our gas tank meter still shows Full. 😂

    Hybrids are the worst of ICE as the engine is too small...worst of ev as the battery is too small...too complicated and too expensive to maintain or repair...too many parts to fail...ICE is dead

      i bet over 10 years of ownershop, lexus rx is 100% gonna last if you do oil changes correctly. Some hybrid cars are actually cheaper to fuel up than using electrify america or super chargers ad they go 700mi+ at $40-50 filling. If tesla and lexus is both out of warranty, I will feel way more comfortable keeping lexus.
