Eurovision Explained By 'Love Love Peace Peace' - Part 1

- In this series we explore the Eurovision world by allowing the history of the Competition to explain itself.
The first installment of this series was inspired by Stockholm 2016 hosts Petra Mede and Måns Zelmerlöw who managed to largely summarise the entire Contest in one bite-sized interval act.
Their memorable performance of "Love, Love, Peace, Peace" anecdotally described what it takes to make a winning song and prompted the question: do songs about love and peace really conquer all at Eurovision?

We've seen many of you wondering about the 1956 results. The results of that show are still unknown, apart from the fact that Lys Assia won with the song Refrain.
Is there a way we could ever go about finding it? Is there anyone still alive that saw the deliberations?
Unknown because thats is the official result and you have decided to leave those results be to honor the organisational decisions of that year? Or unknown because nobody actually compiled an official list that ended up in the EBU archives?

Yeah, I guess because of video copyrights they rarely feature anything from the 2001. It's a shame because although the winner was not memorable, there were plenty of great entries (Greece, Malta, Slovenia, Spain...)

In the german natio al Selektion in 1982 the man who counted the votes says that germany came with the Song from Walter Andreas Schwarz 2nd

Maybe what they meant is that The Netherlands was the first song to perform, and then, Lys Assia performed another of her songs "Das allte Karusell"

There were many winners that year: Iceland, Lithuania, Italy, Bulgaria, etc.
My husband had been looping Think about things for the past couple of weeks.
And no, he's not a fan, but he listened on one of the last videos here, like it and has been listening since.

As a swede I really don’t get why everyone are so hyped about this performance
In “Melodifestivalen” (our own competition to choose who is gonna represent us) there are always acts that are at least as good as this one, so for a swede this isn’t something special cuz we are used to it

I really don't get fuss around them, there were a better hosts and interval acts in history of Eurovision. I'm risiking to be attacked just beacuse i have different opinion than majority of people.*
You have a right to your opinion, but how could it be an insult to the contest and the fans when most fans love that interval act? Do you see some hidden messages that the rest of us are blind to?
