    • @calum8399

Jacob Runkle Atheism is the rejection of religious belief. It is better defined as a lack of belief in god/s rather than as being a belief that there are no gods. This lack of belief is based on the fact that there is no evidence to substantiate the notion that any god exists. Atheists would be willing to accept evidence to the contrary if sufficient evidence were provided. The fact that there exists no such evidence, gives atheists no reason to believe in religion or in the existence of gods. Atheism is not a system of belief as atheists neither postulate nor propose unsubstantiated beliefs or notions.

Great video y'all, To answer the question the meaning of life is to live you are the meaning of life if you don't live there is no meaning to the life you have you want a purpose make a purpose you want to be happy do what makes you happy. All lifes have the potential to mean something to be something but as of right now not all lifes have meaning there are people whom waste the life that they were gifted with the time they were given on this planet it's quite tragic when you think about it but it is what it is. There is no meaning to life until you give yourself meaning. Whether it be helping the homeless, creating Jubilee, saving children from a burning fire these things give you meaning. Just do the 50/50 rule 50% you help yourself and your happiness go on that vacation you've been putting off, find your peace, feel alive, become something, etc the other 50% help others to ensure their happiness give to charity, make someones day, help those in need, etc. Don't be selfless and don't be selfish find neutral ground. In my opinion this gives a life meaning if you don't do anything with your life what meaning does it have. Sorry for the rant I may be a little tipsy right now.

I believe the world should balance it's self with atheism and religions. Atheism is not advisable for the depressed or close to suicide as they need a feeling of uselessness, and the same goes for a Christian, Jew, or Muslim who is living a peaceful (to self and others) life. However, some aspects of such religions are oppressive.
Atheism is more of the ability to acknowledge the lack of a grand creator and purpose to life and still perfectly function in living each day. Extremism on either side is toxic, which is where I heavily disagreed with the man when he said that the world would be better without religion. I myself am an atheist, but I once believed as he did but I went to church for a few months and to see how they act and discovered that these were some of the nicest people I've met, which is polar to my previous experience with my aunt and uncle who did some very bad things in the name of their God, including forcing us to believe the same.
Religion can be as beautiful and pure as it can be ugly and evil. Also, as I alluded to earlier I was one of those extreme atheists, but my main problem was the same as extreme Christians, anti-Islam, and radical/extreme Islam, which is a lack of understanding not only their opposing sides but from the refusal to understand. As atheist I have read The bible, an English translation of the Koran, the Book of Mormon, and several Buddhist texts like the the Bhagavad Gita. My youth group leader (a christian traditionalist) even thanked me for telling her trivia facts about the Koran like their version of Genesis and Cain and Able. One of my friends who was one of those people who hated Islam and wanted that one Islam immigration regulation our current president wanted, was surprised to find out that all those "slaying unbelievers" actually had a context that explained it pretty well. It disturbs me when people continue to make those 'top ten violent verses of the Quran" or "top ten unscientific verses of the Qur'an" yet they either do not take the fact that the violent verses were pulled from the books (usally surah 8) that directly focus on what to do during war (it is like me pulling verses from the Biblical story of Babylon from Daniel, Jeremiah, and the revelation to say that the whole bible preaches violence and blind loyalty) and also forget about how biology works in comparison with Genesis like Adam, Eve, and Noah.
If one were to argue against something, then they should take a while studying what they are opposing. Just Because you are an atheist it does not mean that you should not read religious texts. Just because you are an christian it does not mean that you shall never read the Quran or a Muslim reading a Bible. You better understand your opposing side without seeking stereotypes like the ideas atheists have no morals, that Christians are "ignorant bigots," or that Muslims hate the Western world (fun hint there is this one sect of Islam called Ahmadiyya that break whatever mold you have against them). As an atheist i acknowledge that religion has not made the best reputation but I throw away any stereo types that may harm the image and I accept that believing in a religion does have psychological benefits, just as atheism does. I provide an exception for the Flat Earth Community, that shit is stupid.

I never grew up with a religion but sometimes I want to vent about my day and just cry over things that I feel no one would understand so when I cry to god, whether there is a God or not, it clears my mind. It’s almost like a breath of fresh air suddenly hits me and I have someone to talk to who won’t judge me but who will forgive me. I don’t do wrong all the time, and if I do wrong it’s nothing major, but I do get overwhelmed and no one understands that pressure sometimes except yourself so believing that you’re able to vent to someone who will understand everything you have to say is helpful. Just my opinion.

1:35 Christianity isn’t about doing good things or following rules to get to Heaven and expecting everything to be okay when you apologize to someone. That’s not it at all lol.
Christians are called to love because God loved us. He gave us an opportunity for salvation from the consequences of sin (going to Hell) through Jesus’ death and resurrection so that if we have faith (100% trust) in Him as our Lord and Savior then repent (turn away from sin), we are saved. It took me a while to see it but there’s more freedom in faith. Christianity is very introspective, and being a follower of Jesus actually calls you to have more personal responsibility.

She was a "stay-at-home" mom for 16 years before re-entering the work force (I put "stay-at-home" in quotes because I think that phrase could be misleading; she was always taking us on field trips, running errands, driving us to classes, volunteering, or some kind of activity).

It is like you said people are people. Some people are great, some are horrible and most occupy the middleground of being cool sometimes and a jerk sometimes. As people we build walls around our in-groups to keep people like us close. What we do not realize is that wall also isolates people who are on the outside. The dangerous part of living in these self imposed isolation is that we get our information about the people in outside social groups 3rd and 4th hand. It is easy to form an opinion of people on bad information without taking the time to vet that info. This type of behavior led to the Satanic Panic of the 90's.
Hopefully it will be people like you who are open to listening to other people who can help prevent further isolation in our world and help bring us together to make the world a more tolerant place.

Cameron Burdick God “has set eternity in the human heart.” Every person has a longing or desire for something beyond this world. The very idea that we can imagine an eternity shows there is an innate desire or interest in something or someone beyond this life. According to the Bible, people are not born atheists but are born with a desire for something transcending this life.
Everyone worships something or someone, whether it is God, false gods and goddesses, other people, themselves, or things in this world. This innate desire for worship also provides evidence that people are not born lacking faith, but seeking someone to worship. In other words, people are created to worship. More importantly, they know God exists: “For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities-his eternal power and divine nature-have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse” (Romans 1:20).

      * No. I have met a lot of people who really don't care.
"According to the Bible, people are not born atheists but are born with a desire for something transcending this life"
      * What reason do I have to trust the bible? It's just a claim. By its self, it means nothing.
"Everyone worships something or someone, whether it is God, false gods and goddesses, other people, themselves, or things in this world"
      * Not at all. I even know theist who don't worship god. Here is the definition of worship:
[the feeling or expression of reverence and adoration for a deity]
I don't worship anything. The closest thing that I would worship is Reese's Peanut Butter Cups, because they melt in my mouth, but I wouldn't worship them. I don't even worship my closest friends, or loved ones.
"This innate desire for worship also provides evidence that people are not born lacking faith, but seeking someone to worship"
      * Faith is belief without good reason. If you have good reason, faith isn't needed. Also, I have spent the past four years helping to raise my brother and he has no such desire.
"In other words, people are created to worship"
      * firstly, what a sad existence, if it was true. Secondly, I see no reason to think this is true.
"More importantly, they know God exists"
      * I don't know that god exist. I have talked to dozens of theist and there have always been holes and problems with their evidence. None of it stood up to criticism. Lets say the everyone is born longing for a god and to worship, that wouldn't mean that there is a god, just that people want there to be.
If you want me to actually believe in god, I need a good reason to. You can't choose to be convinced. You either have been, or you haven't and I haven't.

      1. The singing stars. Job 38:7 declares the morning stars sang together and all the sons of God shouted for joy. It sounds like a bit of Bible poetry but not much more. After all, stars shine, not sing, right? Well, it turns out scientists have been able to convert patterns from start light into audio wavelengths, according to Discovery News. The “amount of hiss” in the audio reportedly allows scientists to measure the surface gravity on a star and gauge where it is in its stellar evolution.
      2. Weight of the winds. In Job 28:25, we are told that God weighed out the wind. This one may be no more self-evident to us than it was to an ancient Israelite reader of this text. But, we know from modern science that air, since it does have mass, weighs something. You might be surprised to know how much though: an estimated one ton of air is weighing down on shoulders, according to this science site (which explains that we don’t feel it because the air is exerting its force in all directions). This is pretty basic stuff for modern scientists, but it’s quite a credit to the inerrancy of Scripture that the author of Job got it right so long ago (approximately in the second millennium BC).
      3. A massive fountain of water deep beneath the Earth!!! Genesis 7:11 "In the six hundredth year of Noah's life, in the second month, the seventeenth day of the month, the same day were all the fountains of the great deep broken up, and the windows of heaven were opened."
      www.thesun.co.uk/news/2242110/scientists-discovered-water-from-biblical-great-flood-in-worlds-deepest-hole/
      www.express.co.uk/news/weird/733026/Russia-science-Kola-borehole-Noah-floodwater-Bible-Genesis-theory-of-12
      creation.com/oceans-of-water-deep-inside-the-earth
"Scientists dig the world’s deepest hole - and find ‘water from NOAH’S FLOOD’ at the bottom The revelation also reportedly "disproves the myth" that the earth is made up of dry rocky layers"
All these would stand the scrutiny of a judge and jury for the case of a creator Gods existence
and the legitimacy of the Christian Faith!!!
But I am feeling generous so I will give you two more great forms of evidence, how about this
book where a forensic officer who is atheist studies and researches the Bible to see if it proves
a historical Jesus and if he was murdered wrongfully?
Cold-Case Christianity: A Homicide Detective Investigates the Claims of the Gospels
      www.amazon.com/Cold-Case-Christianity-Homicide-Detective-Investigates/dp/1434704696,
      afterward he became Christian!!!
Also, why don't you just pray to God yourself and ask him if he is real? What more can I say??? Then you would have
personal evidence and proof of Gods interaction yourself.....
I mean, there is actually way way way more evidence for God than this but it either would go over
your head or you would not understand it properly and you would question it, but this is really
solid evidence and proof I have given you up above that would hold up in a court of law........... if you decide to RUN from it, at
least admit to yourself that is what you are doing........
Do you believe your life, body, family and the ground you walk on are all a gift or something else? If you believe they are all something else then what do you think they all are then?***

(Not yet at least, but close) Jesus also said when the evil spirit is casted out and has left the body, it has nothing else in the deserted island. Then when it makes its return, it is 7 times worse. Of course, I don't only stay with that, I love to study the scriptures and try to explain many things atheists ask so that I can preach correctly and help other people find the benefits mentioned earlier.

1:32 "All you have to do to be a good person, is _join_ us, do bad things, and then confess; and that's okay."
It may seem like confession is just an easy way for people to feel better about themselves, but the entire point is that - to make a valid confession - one must be _truly_ sorry, know _why_ what they did was wrong, and have the _complete intention_ to never do it again. If someone thinks that they can sin or do bad things so long as they confess, they are not Christians. Or, at least, not Catholic.

2consider I don’t know because I’m not catholic personally, but it’s true for all Christians that you cannot continue to sin unrepentantly.
      1 John 3:7-8
“ 7 Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous. 8 He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.“
It’s supposed to fairly obvious what faith in God looks like; that faith always reflects back into their life and “shows fruit.”
      Galatians 5:22-23
“22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.”
      1 John 4:16
“And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in them.”

"Dear Christians, why do you believe in God?"
Personally, I grew up in a family that believed in God.
I never questioned it, I never doubted it. This caused me to have a very weak or mild belief in God.
That was until I went to a Christian Program place (forgot the name) when I was around 7-10.
It was a very fun day, and at the end, we decided to all pray together (not quietly, but saying your prayer out loud).
Strangely, as I was praying, I suddenly cried. I wasn't sad, I wasn't happy, I was just praying... I was then crying so loud that I could hardly talk, so I opened my eyes and looked around and I saw everyone crying. That was one strange incident, which I asked my Mother. She said it was the Holy Spirit. I remember after the prayer this one kid got really freaked out because he cried for no reason and said: "I want to go home!"
That was not strong enough, though. Yes, that was one proof that God might exist but... it wasn't strong enough to 100% convince me.
Recently, this really strange thing happened to me. While I was sleeping on my bed, I suddenly heard a man's laughter. The second he laughed, my heart/chest thumped extremely hard and caused me to wake up. It was like someone kicked me inside of my chest outwards.
I sat up and I heard the man's voice say my name which then faded away. It wasn't a dream. I had no idea why but the thought of God popped into my mind.
Sure, you guys might say "Oh it's just a dream. No big deal." but I remember clear as day that it wasn't.
I woke up and the laughter was continuing, I should have said "Yes Lord?" when He called my name.
So what was the laughter like? The laugh was not one of those "making-fun-of-someone laughs" but instead, it was like the laughter you slightly let out when you see a puppy doing something cute.
You might also be asking what He sounds like, and well, I can't explain it. It's just a masculine voice. The voice was not loud, yet it was incredibly powerful.
You can call me a liar all you want, but why would I lie about this? If this never happened, my faith would be weak, thus making me into an Atheist.

As a former Christian, I can easily say I’m happier as an atheist. I lost my faith after numerous lung surgery failures. Spending a combined 3 months in the hospital, constantly praying in addition to numerous churches praying for me. I began to question things, studied more of the Bible and the claims. I eventually lost faith. The next surgery was a success. 8 months later was promoted, two years after that married the women of my dreams. All while being an atheist and not believing in god. I still “look at the trees” in awe, but for different reasons. Knowing the world and our universe is so far from full discovery. Nature and the human body is far more divine than an unfalsifiable being. For me, appealing to a mystery with a bigger mystery isn’t discovery, it’s faith. And one thing I’ve learned about faith is, there’s nothing you couldn’t believe, based on faith

The woman saying to “not be open” to her spiritual views is wrong really ticks me off. My relative is overwhelmingly religious and she uses that argument when trying to get me to practice. What irritates me is that they can say that all they want to get us to feel like we should feel obligated to give religion a chance, yet if someone crosses their path who was already religious, they would never say tell that person to be more “open” to experiencing life without religion. It’s a one way street. If I were to tell my relative to “be more open” to no God she would refuse, so why make others do what you won’t? It just baffles me how some religious people I’ve met act like this.

Before I go any further I want to admit I am not religious. That being said I was not very happy with the atheist, it came off as he was pressing an ideology that religion is bad and you have to be smart to be an atheist and I don't believe that at all. Religion is a choice, if you choose to indulge in it good for you, if you choose not to (wait for it) good for you. What atheists need to realize is that it is written in most religions that you have to spread the religion to be a true follower of that faith. I understand that and i'm more than willing to sit down and listen to someone talk to me about their religion. I wish the person of choice in this video was more that way.

On the other hand, I have seen many Christians who have been rude and judgmental, and many Athiests who have been tolerant and open-minded. It depends on the people themselves. If you are selfish and cruel, then you use your beliefs to justify this and vice versa. This is a good first step, but we need a broader picture of American Belief.
