    Can we just talk about how much the Traverse has transformed? This looks absolutely amazing, hands down the best rendition of the divorced headlight/DRL styling that I’ve seen yet! But the rear looks even better than the front end. I don’t know if the interior has improved more or the exterior but I can confidently say I’d be test driving this even if I didn’t need the third row! Chevrolet has been on a serious roll since the reveal of the new Trax! The new Traverse is finally resembling its bigger brother the Tahoe, which is what I’ve personally been waiting for. The technology upgrades are also greatly welcomed with most people feeling that the outgoing interior was starting to feel dated.

    GM certainly has the looks, packaging and styling down. Reliability of the drivetrain in this application is the remaining big question mark. Probably best to wait a couple of model years.

    • @G-Rated
      @G-Rated Před 4 měsíci +7

      I find it hard to believe *gm* would replace their tried and true naturally aspirated 3.6L V6 with a underpowered, inefficient, and unreliable turbocharged 4 cylinder and then make it the only motor available in some of their most important models (Traverse/Acadia/Enclave). I could imagine all the work and testing that’s gone into this new 4 cylinder. Even more so because a RWD version of it is now the only powertrain option in their mid-size pickup trucks Colorado/Canyon.

    • @michael.sierra
      @michael.sierra Před 4 měsíci +10

      I believe this engine is related to the 2.7L used in Colorado and Silverado, I think they have put a lot of effort and engineering into it and it'll be fairly reliable.

    • @ncvwrx2759
      @ncvwrx2759 Před 4 měsíci +6

      Its WAY easier to fix the looks packaging and styling vs powertrain reliability. They let the public do the beta testing on powertrain lol

    GM did a much better job this time on the Traverse. This vehicle should sell even better especially for larger families. I've owned a Traverse and Enclave and both were great comfortable vehicles and weren't hard to maintain. It will be interesting how the 4 cylinder does in such a large vehicle especially when loaded to its max capacity. GM should have given another choice in powertrains. Ford gives choices in their Explorer as does the Dodge Durango. I'm not a fan of the one motor fits all approach especially for the asking prices of these vehicles.

      A turbo 4cyl isn't new to the GM. Their Terrains and Equinox both used a 1.5l turbo 4 in the outgoing generation, and the Acadia base engine was a 2.0l turbo when it got the 9 speed in 2020.

    I gotta ask... I havent been into GM vehicle's for a bit, but all I see is comments saying "can't believe they replaced the tried and true V6 for a 4cyl." Now i know mechanics that have been working for 30 yrs and they would tell me stay away from the Traverse and Acadia with the V6 because at around 60k miles they would have timing chain and guide issues, cam issues, and they were pretty much 60k-70k mile vehicle's and than nothing but trouble.... So now we have a few years of stats of a problematic drive train, and yet people are crapping on this new 4cyl with it not even being out for a month? Why would you still want a problematic engine in a newly redesigned vehicle? And yes, I also personally know two people that have a few years older GM with the V6, and their timing chains started chattering at about 60K.

  • @grandemage
    @grandemage Před 4 měsíci +6

    Man I really wish Chev would get back into making hybrids. This would easily be on a lot of family's shopping lists as top contender if they've stop devoting themselves to EV only. Good new design, choices and pricing, but without some hybrid fuel economy as an option, they're leaving a demographic of shoppers to go elsewhere.

    • @G-Rated
      @G-Rated Před 3 měsíci

      That demographic wouldn’t be opposed to a fully electric vehicle if they’re willing to pay hybrid prices just to end up at the gas pump eventually anyway. The majority rather charge up once and be done for the day until it’s time to charge again for the next day, and that’s still cheaper in fuel costs over the course of ownership than a hybrid which still requires gasoline not to mention the premium you paid upfront to get it.
      I wouldn’t hate them for building this and a Traverse EV side-by-side.

    I've been eyeing this for a while it definitely is a whole different look but I'm going to keep my Naturally Aspirated V-SIX 2018 Redline Edition Traverse top of the line Premier Trim!! I'm averaging 28 mpg & we love the off road-Tow-4x4 control that we could switch on the Fly. It's the quietest vehicle I have ever driven!

    He says full-sized SUV from GM. I don't know, but isnt the Traverse considered a crossover? And wouldn't a Tahoe or Yukon be considered full sized?

    • @AAutoBuyersGuide
      @AAutoBuyersGuide  Před 3 měsíci

      SUV, CUC, etc is all a matte4 of marketing to be honest. As far as the size, it’s bigger than a Chevy Tahoe used to be a few years ago. You can call it either mid sized or full sized depending on your perspective and the comparison. It’s much larger than the Highlander or Sorento.

    Honestly I’m glad they replaced the 3.6, that engine was awful. It was an unreliable pile of junk in a good portion of the vehicles they put it in. This seems like a good alternative, and with all the other changes (especially that screen and the implementation of two screen Apple CarPlay) it’s genuinely on my short list of vehicles for when I buy in a year. I quite like it.
