We just bought a 2018 Traverse a little over a week ago. We had been trying to decide between a Traverse or another Tahoe. I had a 2012 with bench and 3rd row and honestly the 3rd row in the tahoe was way too small for any of my teens to sit back there(we are all 5'8"+. And putting my 3yr old back there was a pain. I knew from watching your videos that the Traverse was the biggest mid size and really wanted that better gas mileage if we could fit. I have 2 teens and a 3yr old at home but also need an extra seat if my adult daughter ever wants to go somewhere with us occasionally. Under $25k was my budget. I was shocked at the space our High Country Traverse with buckets has. You can truly fit 6 adults fairly comfortably. It's not a pain to put my toddler in that 3rd row. My teens love the buckets. It's also easier to bucket my toddler in a bucket vs bench. The interior of the High Country is what sold me. It's just beautiful. The trunk space with the 3rd row up is even bigger than what our 2012 Tahoe was. And I am getting almost 23mpg vs barely 18mpg at times I was getting with the Tahoe. And I am excited to see how I get when we do a long interstate drive!
Love the upgrades on the 2024 Traverse! And I think we all know you probably had a little influence on those middle headrests Kelly 😉 from watching all your videos I know you're thrilled. Maybe next they will add their window screens. I prefer tinting tho really. We even chose to tint the sun and moon roofs on our Traverse. Highly recommend that!
A little long but thought I'd share our recent experience for anyone trying to decide between a Tahoe and Traverse

What has your experience been with having to get traverses fixed in spending time in the shop ? I seen so many Traverse owners complaining it was always one problem after another so even though it has the space for for car seats which we need and the child-friendly tilt it's been off of my list what we may possibly buy in the coming months. Are they really terribly unreliable or is it hit and miss?

@@tovyaweissberg47 I never owned a 2nd gen but i still drive a 1st gen 2014 model. I've had no issues with the engine or transmission. I stay on top of my service and never skimp. Most of the owners I've spoken to who had a failed timing chain were doing extended oil change intervals. I do every 5k miles with full synthetic oil, no issues. Every owner I've spoken to who had transmission issues, same result, they listened to the dealer when they told them it was "lifetime fluid" and never changed it. I do a drain and fill every 25k miles. I'm at 171k miles and it shifts just fine. In 10 years these are the major repairs I've had outside of basic maintenance and small things like a bulb here or there. Water pump at 80k $750, a heater hose at around 100k $900 and an exhaust leak at around 125k $1100. $2750 isn't chump change but that's in 10 years on a daily driver.

The addition of the 3rd row access to both Captain's chairs this year is huge for the platform (Traverse/Acadia/Enclave). Even crazier is Tahoe/Yukon doesn't have even one. I own an older Traverse. We take a 10 day cruise every year with two other couples and always park at the airport. So with 6 adults and all of our luggage, it does work. For adults a short trip in the 3rd row is okay, but you wouldn't want to sit back there for too long. The new Traverse is even larger than my generation of Traverse so luggage won't be a problem.
