People are also intentionally missing a key point: According to the video evidence, the ex-boyfriend was warned that the father was armed... AND HE CONTINUED TO BREAK INTO THE HOUSE. Someone who is warned that there is a gun, and continues to provoke a situation, is not a sane person, and is far more likely to harm others because they have no concern for their own safety. This is not the first time we've been shown in the news someone who is armed being attacked/provoked, only later to find out the person who is killed has a terrible history of violence, killing, abuse, etc. This 22 year-old's intentions were not good. Again, and I repeat: "The ex-boyfriend was warned that the father had a GUN. And he CONTINUED to break into the house anyway." If you have two brain cells to rub together, any semblance of sense, ANY instinct for survival, you do not charge a door with someone who announced they have a gun on the other side...

I thought that women were supposed to be protected at all costs, so why is the dad in the wrong (according to the Twidiots) by taking out a guy who was clearly there with ill intent that was actively trying to enter the home without permission to protect his daughter? Pretty sure in most cases most normal people would've pulled the trigger, too.

Example being if you were walking in the park and you got mugged by a guy who just had his fist no weapon you would have to fist fight him for your wallet and let the best man win. I agree about a fair fight in a competition, but this isn't the ufc its not a competition this is real life I want to have the ultimate advantage. I hope if I'm ever attacked I have a massive advantage going into the confrontation when my life and my physical being is on the line never less my wallet. You do not owe your attacker his safety. I seen one comment said that Dad was bigger than the kid so therefore he could have just fist fight him, yeah and he could have been punched in the face and callsed harm he is not obligated to accept those conditions. I would rather kill 25 orphans who were attacking me than let one of them little m************ punch me in the face and me have a black eye for a week and that's the way it's supposed to be you do not owe your attacker a safe and easy target.

That interview was very difficult for me to hear.
On July 19th, we got a phone call from a friend who had been in our wedding party 40 years ago. His eldest son, D had taken his wife and three children out to visit D's youngest sister. While they were walking back from Glacier National Park, a man pulled up to the group and started shooting. It turned out to be the former boyfriend of D's sister. He murdered D and D's 18 month old child, and also shot D's wife and D's sister. Fortunately, D's sister was able to fight back and and managed to kill their attacker.
People can arm chair quarterback all they want, but it's a whole different issue when it is actually happening and split second decisions have to be made. D and his family were defenseless when the attack began. They had NO idea what was happening. All the yammering in the world about what they "coulda, shoulda, woulda" done isn't going to bring D or the baby back. The best we can do is pray for our friends and their children as they struggle to cope with this senseless murder.
