I have the Athlon Argos BTR Gen 2 in 10-40x56 on my 10/22 with Green Mountain 24" barrel. Shoots in the 2s with Eley Semi Auto Benchrest Precision. Shot several 250 cards with it. Kidd barrels are way over rated. I had one. Constant feeding issues. Zero issues with the Green Mountain barrel. Sits in a Titan stock.
Nice man -- maybe test something for us. Look at your 10/22 magazines. mine builds a lot of lead up on the feed ramp. Extracting some of the rounds after feeding I noticed a bit of lead shaving from the freedom pill. Then I looked at some older magazines from maybe like 10 years ago and didn't have that. The one thing I noticed was the old magazines were a bit more stiff and tougher to load. So I purchased a tool you use to put your 10/22 magazines back together after cleaning them. I purchased a couple of new ones and wound them 1 full turn past what came from the factory and noticed the round sits a bit higher
I've never had any luck with bx-15 mags. However, the bx-25s seem to work fine. The bx-1 are hit or miss. I once bought a 3 pack directly from Ruger, and 2 of them worked great. The third wouldn't feed for crap.
Sometimes I feel like the Ruger mags are more of a wildcard than ammo . It’s about 50% for me on Ruger 10 round mags . About half of em deform bullets somewhere along the line . I’ve tried tuning … best off saving the ammo and testing time and getting a new mag . Rule of thumb , buy two mags for every mag you think you need.
Everyone I know that's tried an Athlon for F-Class has pulled it and traded it off. Sightron SII 10-50x60 is about the cheapest scope a person can get away with and i've had them all at one time or another when getting started. Best to just fold and buy a good scope like a NF or March etc. Cheap barrels and cheap scopes and cheap bullets and off brand powders won't get you far in the LR world. As far as .22s go for target work I do real with an Anschutz 54 i also have 2. Walther KKM UITs and a highly modified B-14r i had a Kimber 82G and it was not accurate enough to win anything so i sold it off.
Always enjoy the content cause you try such a wide variety of stuff. Unrelated to the video, I’m interested to know if you adjust your zero at the zero time on the morning of a match or do you just leave your zero setting and make mental note of the shift?
@@PursuitofAccuracy Thanks! I was just wondering because I notice some minor vertical changes depending on temp and realized the Kestral assumes a true zero at all temps.
@@austinkroe yeah the kestrel will ignore the zero change. Mine does float a bit but i attribute it to zero distance and the range Its usually so minimal i ignore it
This is an off topic question from your video. I'm curious in general there's never a mention of a chamber dimension that allows the 22LR bullet to engrave the rifling when the round is chambered. This should improve accuracy. Or is there a chamber type designed to do that. I believe maybe Anschutz does this. In the old days bullets were always started into the rifling when falling, and rolling block target rifles were used.
My main question how does the!degree of engraving affect accuracy? Lastly I'm not sure if you've done a video on the different chambers and if any engrave the bullet to what degree Thanks
Thanks Josh. All of us shooting 10/22s love the ftf and fte. Gives more time at the range.

Great content as usual Josh. Appreciate it 🇺🇸
ARES ETR 15-60 is the scope I want to get next
It would be nice to see a full review of this scope. Out of stock everywhere at the moment, unfortunately.
Man, if I had a Kidd that shot sk rifle match like that it would be going back for sure.
Every lots different. It hammers other lots, just not these lots 😂
You should try the Grey Birch receiver and barrel. Best 10/22 accuracy available and less ammo picky
I noticed with my Ruger precision rimfire, it's more accurate with the 10 round magazines than the 15 round magazines.

Benchrest shoots here (ABRA) run only 10 shot mags, with clean mags malfunctions are rare
you should try the 11/22 receiver, think that will be my next build. the removable top lets you pull out the bolt without removing from chassis
Interesting

I typically dont adjust it at all and just run it. I know my guns are zeroed so its more a systems check

Where u at in Carolina if u don't mind me asking
Yessir i just bought this scope myself and absolutely love it so far. What do you think ?
Gonna be great for a BR setup
@@PursuitofAccuracy yessir thats why i got it. Using it on my anschutz 54

Ultimately engraving is up to the smith. They can ream it shorter giving it more engraving or longer resulting in less

Comments turned off on lates video brother..
Utube having issues site wide im told.
Hmm will check it out
I fixed it. Appreciate ya
Glad I saw this video. It supports my dislike for Ruger 10/22s and its derivatives.
😂
Hey brother can you tell me exactly what scope can your using
I need one for the videos I’m bout to start making
Athlon ares etr 15-60
@@PursuitofAccuracy scope cam…I have the Athlon I knew what that was but I’m looking for a scope cam
The standard 10-round magazine has always been faultless for me. I don't like those banana magazines. 😊
Whats your favorite torque wrench for scope rings?
I use the original fat wrench and the digital one
Yep, anyone that's built a 10/22 will probably have the same feeding issues, until they get the right combination
What ammo does the Kidd like
Typically eley and sk lr match.
In MO i had a lot of sk lr match that averaged .25"
My Kidd seems to like Eley Semi Auto Bench Rest
One word : ELEYSEMIAUTOBENCHREST😂. How was the glass on that scope ?
Glass was good.
For the price point of a grand id give it a 7 out of 10
@@PursuitofAccuracy Now ya got me curious, What's scope gets a 10/10 at it's price range +/- ~200? :)
@@zacharytresidentdigimonenj3397 tract Toric, Leopold mark 4, Zeiss Lrp, Athlon Cronus, BUSHNELL match pro ed to name a few
@@PursuitofAccuracy fantastic, appreciate the prompt reply! Love your channel. Thanks!
Have several rugers and tac 22 will not cycle in any of them
Youre @ 50yrds?
Yeah, just testing some ammo i had laying around. No luck lol
Sk needs to get rid of the semi auto it's garbage. My Supergrade hammers long range match and Eley semi benchrest precision even SK standard is decent
Shoots great in my Bergara B14R. Not as good a SK long range but as good as std plus.
Good video, not bad shooting with all the things that nobody likes, rotary mag, semiautomatic, lol
🤣
I put alot of money in a 10-22 it still shoots like crap bolt action is far more accurate
I have been trying to get my hands on that scope for months now and everyone is sold out of them.
10/22 junk
Tell us how you really feel 🤣🤣🤣
😂🤣😆😁😐
