The point of the exercise of the 4 countries is to show the world that SCS/WPS is navigable and that no one, especially China can lay claim to it solely. The fact that china didnt do a Radio challenge means they can only bully weaker strenght. Every country that do trade and and Pass to these waters should realize that the Philippines and its Allies is not doing this solely for themselves but also for everyone who wishes to navigate these waters without being harrassed, challenged and bullied. Not to mention that it is also to secure the claims of other ASEAN nations territorial Rights and sovereignity. Its not Hard to understand... if the Philippines lose its Rights on their territory with chinas aggression, what makes them think china will stop at the Philippines. And not only china, other stronger Nations will see this as a precursor.. that "ohh if china can do it, why cant we?" And this is the essence of the exercise.. to show that international laws, freedom, Rights and liberty should be exercised, respected and upheld.

Japan has been a long time dispute over a group of islands, Mongolia has been dispersed and now circled by china's claims, Pakistan has also land dispute over china, Vietnam has historically lost some soldiers and fishermen's due to china's aggression, Malaysia has an overlaps sea dispute over china, even Brunei kept silence but has a right to defend against china's claims, Tibet are now losing some lands over china, Myanmar is in chaos with China's political influences, even their socalled ally Russia has a boundary issues over china, now they are planning to take over Taiwan by force. The Philippines has a long history of helping nations that are being bullied especially by countries that are also bullying them. Israel, South Korea and South Vietnam are the two more well known examples of this. Especially if they are pretty similar culturally to said countries. Philippines was also there during the American follies of Iraq and Afghanistan as well.
Taiwan, luckily, has long cultural ties and share the same values as the Philippines. No doubt in my mind that the Philippines will come through if China ever invades Taiwan. Those 200,000 Filipinos currently working in Taiwan need protecting, after all.

Just to be clear: The Philippines cooperates with US, Japan, and Australia because it cannot face China alone over the China-Philippine territorial conflict over the Philippines' EEZ. Taiwan and China has similar claims over the South China Sea, so in effect the Philippine-US-Japan-Australia cooperation is, in principle, to counter China-Taiwan's Nine-Dash-Line claim over the entire SCS.

Taiwan will benefit directly or indirectly with whatever moves the Philippines make with regards to its defense of its territory. As for the Philippine's efforts in ensuring the integrity of WPS, Taiwan is another state being threatheded by China - Taiwan should start making the same moves as the Philippines to ensure non-aggression by China. Definitely, the Philippines will stand with Taiwan.

Taiwan 🇹🇼 from this point should be very vigilant on action taken in the South China Sea the primary purpose of China is to get hold of the geographical location surrounding the vast south china sea for its strong militarization program, international assistance would be very complicated for taiwan due to one china policy. Taiwan-Philippines has its vital role in china's plan on world power so with the creation of trilateral treaty of the Philippines and a possible NATO invitation to the Philippines, china will be on a thinking side about their plans.

It seems your guests are bent on planting the notion that the Trilateral's efforts to curb chinese aggression is in vain.
TAIWAN should realize that if most of its residents enjoy democracy and freedom, then it should do its share to protect the first island chain too, rather than belittle the Philippine's efforts to defend its sovereignity, taiwan could cooperate to reap mutual benefits and strengthen your defenses agsinst china's usurpation.
Although we cannot be sure of the americans help in case of the impending invasion, it is only in multi country cooperation that we have a chance in pushing back china's expansionism. That is, of course, the only reason perhaps of taiwans silence is because obviously, it wishes for it to be reintegrated as another china province.

Philippines Constitution says any agreement not approved by the Philippine Senate is null and void. The people of the Philippines cannot therefore be held to an agreement behind its back. China, as always, is always a liar and a deceiver. "In the Philippines' practice, only a treaty or international agreement requires the concurrence of the Senate in its ratification by the President. The Office of the President would require the certificate of concurrence of each executive agency involved in the interagency process, depending on the subject matter." Executive action is binding through action, or conversely, abrogated through executive inaction, executive counteraction, or Senate/Plebiscite disapproval.
