    I 110% agree that the boxes are not only easier but way more efficient. I’m terrible at getting and staying organized. Since I bought all those boxes from you it’s been like a light bulb flipped on upstairs. Lol. Everyone should at least grab a couple boxes and try it out for a few months. Feel it out to see what you guys think. 9 times out of 10 y’all will stick with the boxes. Great video as always James! Thanks brother!

    Awesome video. I use to take all my soft plastic out of the bags and store them in the boxes however learned the hard way one day while I was at work, came out and all my soft plastic melted. Haha it was super hot that day. I also learned from trail and error, what works for me and what doesn’t. Now I just keep everything in their original bag. Much easier and a lot cleaner. No more oily, scented, salted boxes.

    I have read most of your comments from this almost 3 year old video and a lot of guys think you have way to much and I hear that ever so often from the wife but she lets me do what I want in my Cave as long as it doesn't smell up the rest of the house LOL. I look at tackle buying as a more than enjoyable hobby because hobbies make you happy and when I stand back and look at my full boxes of soft plastics I am Happy. The wife tells me that my face lights up like Ralphy in The Christmas story getting his BB Gun every time I get a new box from UPS. And yes it's a sickness but an enjoyable one. I have worked all my life and at 66 years old fishing and buying more tackle is what I do. I quit smoking 26 years ago but enjoy a cold Beer sometimes in my Cave while I sit back and look at my growing arsenal. And the answer I give to my Wife on occasion is No Honey it's not possible. Thanks for your Videos.

      I spray a lot of my plastic with smelly scent after I put them in a box. I allow some plastics to dry out, even to wither, and then soak in strong scent to rehydrate them. I'm going to try soaking them in pure fish oil for next spring. To me, strong smell is just part of fishing, and I don't mind it.

Dipped a white 6 inch paddle tail in chartreuse and they would rip the tail off and then destroy what was left of my bait. PS. It’s a great idea. And I’ve tried it with the best of intentions. However, it never fails that I would be in a lil derby and somehow I’d get the red and white paca chunks or something mixed together in a box. The red dye bleeds and now I have pretty pink paca chunks. I like using about 5 small folders. I put all my worms in one folder, all my flipping baits in a folder......... sometimes I take them out of store packs sometimes like those with clam shell packs I don’t. Then i refill and change according to where I’m fishing next.
    Ps: gotta try the pit boss non havoc power baits, max Scent!

      @TackleJunky81  Před 7 lety +2

      Thanks Mark. KVD Line and Lure is the best conditioner that I've used. Works best if you let it dry on your line. Either the night before I plan to fish or on my way to the lake I spray my line so it has a chance to dry. Only takes a few squirts, just rotate the spool till you covered it all. You will know when its time to reapply, but I normally only spray it the one time each trip.

Soft baits (PowerBaits, etc - and not many of those) remain in their original packaging.

    I'm in the process of making this switch. I've been the type to throw all my soft plastics in zip locks, organized by type. Craws, Worms, Creatures, Swimbaits, Stickbaits, etc. I always wondered how the soft plastics would hold up in plano boxes. Especially some of the rage stuff. Will they lose their coffee scent faster outside of the bags and in a plano box? Will they stiffen up or dry out? Just questions I've had. I'm worried about some of my more soft/wet plastics that come scented for sure.
    It just seems like a much better system, and reduces space by loading them all up in boxes instead of lugging around multiple large ziplocks crammed full of individual bags.

    • @TackleJunky81
      @TackleJunky81  Před 7 lety

      I've had plastics in boxes for a few years and have never had any issues with them losing their scent or drying out. I haven't put the Rage baits in boxes yet, but I plan too. Baits like you mentioned that come wet, I definitely box all of those as the bags become a huge mess.

      Just the Plano 3700 water proof boxes with the red seal. Get whatever size you need. The 3600 has a blue seal and the smaller ones have a yellow seal.

    Do you leave your soft swimbaits (Keitech, Exoswim, etc.) in their original packaging or move them to a box? I know that they can lose their shape when stored bunches up, but I hate how much space the clamshell packaging consumes. I’m currently using the 3700 deep boxes from Plano, but they don’t hold enough and it seems like a waste of space. Thanks! I watch all the videos, so keep them coming!

      pprice01 I have in the past with zero issues, but I use the shallow and keep it stocked so they stay in place.

      TackleJunky81 ok, thank you! I will be moving mine to the shallow 3700 boxes, packed tightly, and see what happens. I live in the desert so it gets pretty hot here. Hopefully they will hold their shape.

    Hey, I was just curious to know if your soft plastics melt in those boxes since they are out of their packaging?

      Baits that come wet in the package I normally box right away as they leak.

  • @HankSnowgrandslamfishing

    I like the video. I did that with some of my plastics as well

    I keep telling myself buy lures when you lose some. I just end up buying more and my room looks like a tackle shop same as yours lmao

    I've ditched the boxes except for terminal tackle and hard baits and I have started using 2 gallon freezer bags and keeping them in their original packaging, and as well as KVD black bags. They just cost too much nowadays to waste them. IMO
