Glad to hear that I’m not the only one that tries to take everything they own in the boat when they go fishing 😂
I keep going with my rucksack packed with all my lures when I only use about 4 different ones in a couple hour session 🤣 I'm walking up and down canals too!
i like the idea of keeping the lures in their original bags, but in an open core waterproof box!
Lol I'm just picturing a big bass down there thinking "I was going to eat that juicy worm but it's a little crooked so I think I'll pass."
ruins the action when its crooked

I 110% agree that the boxes are not only easier but way more efficient. I’m terrible at getting and staying organized. Since I bought all those boxes from you it’s been like a light bulb flipped on upstairs. Lol. Everyone should at least grab a couple boxes and try it out for a few months. Feel it out to see what you guys think. 9 times out of 10 y’all will stick with the boxes. Great video as always James! Thanks brother!
💪👊
You have a tackle shop in your house : D
Great video! I converted everything to Plano boxes this year because of your vids and have been loving it. Keep up the informative vids.
Thanks Mike! Glad you like them man!
I find the soft plastics don't bleed or suck up other colours like they did 20 years ago so keeping them in boxes definitely the way to go. Not as oily like they used to be
Agreed!
Great video! I would really enjoy to make another series of my tackle box because I really love watching those kinds of videos. Keep up the great work!!
Thanks Jake!
Jim, thanks for pointing out the advantages of boxes over bags! I need to get better organized with boxes. I'm tired of trying to fish through gallon ziplock bags! LOL!
No problem Juanelo! Lol, I can imagine. Thanks for watching buddy!
Juanelo1946 lol
Thanks this video really helped me a lot and gave me a mindset to organize my soft plastics in the stoway box
TJ81, thank you for the Tackle Web pointer. Looked at them for my Triton 17TX but procrastinated. Now I HAVE to get them after seeing them in your boat. Great great vid!!!
No problem Buster!
Great info that I would've not thought to ask about. I stopped a couple of months ago putting plastics in plano boxes do to the warping. Recently started doing tuba ware boxes for all access plastics that are left at home, over the previous gallon zip lock bags. Sweet Vid.
Thanks bro!
once again another awesome video by tacklejunky! looking forward to that top summer baits video!
Thanks Greg! Top 5 Summer baits went up today.
I live near Plano Illinois and I go to the store all the time and it’s really really awesome
Great video.. Plasticizer in your plastics can definitely warp a box. With that said I only use boxes myself..a little warp never hurt anyone
Your organizational skills are second to none in my book, along with care and cleanliness you take on your equipment. Reel maintenance videos second to none. Really enjoy your out on the water videos too. When your making your videos you zoom in on the things your making your point about or the part your changing or whatever , and want you to know those things don't go unnoticed. Great job with your channnel !!!!
Much appreciated man! THANK YOU for watching and leaving such a nice comment.
Tackle junkie!!! the best!!!
i used to put mine in boxes but had issues with the warping. Ive gone to zippered bags like big bank cash bags and then organize by style. I love seeing how others organize their tackle great vid
Bags work too. Thanks for watching James!
I was just looking at videos like these yesterday and couldn't find any reasonable but this one is great video man!
Thanks Colt!
Insane! So insane I've subscribed. You're taking this hobby to another level. Very cool.
Thanks Joe! I appreciate the sub!
Awesome video. I use to take all my soft plastic out of the bags and store them in the boxes however learned the hard way one day while I was at work, came out and all my soft plastic melted. Haha it was super hot that day. I also learned from trail and error, what works for me and what doesn’t. Now I just keep everything in their original bag. Much easier and a lot cleaner. No more oily, scented, salted boxes.
Just came across your channel. Good info, I'm always looking for betters ways to store my tackle.
Thank you!
omg have been waiting for a video like this from you
Thanks for the great tip. I'll be buying some of those 3601 boxes next weekend.
No problem!
i got 3 of the Flambeau containers from academy for$3.50 to $3.99 price range with the similair black handles like yours tackle junky and i love them so much because they keep your tackle stored very meticulously neat and nice looking and God almighty im so used to and just head over heels in love with them they wont spill and Flambeau does a very fantastis job at preventing and hindering spills and is great for bank anglers if you want to be neat and oaragnized. Thanks for your time in mkaing this tackle junky.
My pleasure buddy and I appreciate you watching!
@@TackleJunky81 youre welcome man. i just thought i would help another angler out and share information about these tackle binders. i did exactly what you did and stored my soft plastics in the tackle binders that were previously stored in a bass pro shop 3600 series tackle binder.
One of the best videos I have check out!
Appreciate the comment and thanks for watching! 👊
Hi! New sub here; also new at serious fishing. Debo sent me
I’ve just acquired enough baits to have a storage problem so thanks for this video; it has helped e figure out what I think I’m going to do.
Nice Video Quality and Tips !!! I will definitely be a new subscriber !!
Thanks Joseph, appreciate the sub!!
I have read most of your comments from this almost 3 year old video and a lot of guys think you have way to much and I hear that ever so often from the wife but she lets me do what I want in my Cave as long as it doesn't smell up the rest of the house LOL. I look at tackle buying as a more than enjoyable hobby because hobbies make you happy and when I stand back and look at my full boxes of soft plastics I am Happy. The wife tells me that my face lights up like Ralphy in The Christmas story getting his BB Gun every time I get a new box from UPS. And yes it's a sickness but an enjoyable one. I have worked all my life and at 66 years old fishing and buying more tackle is what I do. I quit smoking 26 years ago but enjoy a cold Beer sometimes in my Cave while I sit back and look at my growing arsenal. And the answer I give to my Wife on occasion is No Honey it's not possible. Thanks for your Videos.
You should make another my tackle vid with all your new stuff! Great vid!
Thanks John!
Nice video man! I used to think the sapphire blue pit boss was a ridiculous color and wondered why I even bought it. That was until I finally got my first fish to the boat while punching it with a 1 oz tungsten last weekend lol.
Thanks bro! Sapphire Blue is one of my go to colors! Glad it worked out for ya.
yea I deff goin to your method. I always bagged mine and this yrs tournaments as well as that trip I went on that bagging is just not ideal anymore. baits get crimped sometimes. or just bent slightly but it throws off the whole action. thanks for the tips brother. I'll be switchin!!
No problem Greg!
thanks for info I have been using bags also and ready to go to boxes tired of playing the bag search game LoL
Harry Smith try the water tight flambeau boxes
Harry Smith same man
Great video james! Good way to store your plastics man, i will be doing this thanks again, and GEEsh man!!!!!! You have a crap load of plastics brotha wow... u could start a small store of your own lmao
lol, Thanks dude!
Excellent info & ideas...thanks!
good info, I'm just getting to that point where I have enough "stuff" that I need to start organizing it. 😎😋
Appreciate you watching, John!
I box all my stuff I use regularly...flipping baits, worms, and what not. Ziplock my things that are kinda off the wall or something I'll only on that specific lake. Really like those 2 gallon zip locks. They are definitely slower though. When i go to a new lake I'll swap stuff out that is lake/state specific.
Good stuff!
💪👊
I been wondering about this. the only reason I keep them in bags cause some come with like a smelly oil. but I should box the one's without. great video.
Thanks Miguel!!
I spray a lot of my plastic with smelly scent after I put them in a box. I allow some plastics to dry out, even to wither, and then soak in strong scent to rehydrate them. I'm going to try soaking them in pure fish oil for next spring. To me, strong smell is just part of fishing, and I don't mind it.
Excellent demo Gene.... Got my order last spring and went striper fishing with it. Dipped a white 6 inch paddle tail in chartreuse and they would rip the tail off and then destroy what was left of my bait. PS. I was the only one catching anything! ;) NOTE: DO NOT USE ON ELAZTECH PRODUCTS....they will melt. cheers! Paul
Good vid man, and I think you should do your five best summertime baits soon
Thanks bro! That vid went up today!
It’s a great idea. And I’ve tried it with the best of intentions. However, it never fails that I would be in a lil derby and somehow I’d get the red and white paca chunks or something mixed together in a box. The red dye bleeds and now I have pretty pink paca chunks. I like using about 5 small folders. I put all my worms in one folder, all my flipping baits in a folder......... sometimes I take them out of store packs sometimes like those with clam shell packs I don’t. Then i refill and change according to where I’m fishing next.
Ps: gotta try the pit boss non havoc power baits, max Scent!
Add a piece of clear tap over your labels on the plastic bags and the sharpie won't fade.
You need to come and sort my spare room.........make the missus happy! 😂🇦🇺🐟🎣
Great video man learned a lot from it I started to do it to ....
Thanks bro!
I fish from a kayak, and bags definitely work better for me. Much easier to throw a couple of ziplocs in my crate. Not enough room for several boxes.
Same here i throw a few bags of soft plastics under the seat on my Jackson Cuda HD and it works for me.
You have a small savings behind you lol love your organizing skills I'm pretty anal about my tackle as well keep up the good work
lol, Thanks for watching Mike!
good stuff... I've bounced back and forth over the years... I like boxing them....
Thanks Troy!
you are just way to organized lol...I can't even keep my socks in the same drawer
That's hilarious
same
I like the setup you have. I’m colorblind so I have to leave my baits in the packaging so I can see what color I’m working with
Appreciate you watching buddy!
what do you think of biospawn, in particular the plasma tail? It's kinda expensive but they sound interesting. I'm a novice at fishing so I don't know if it is worth it at my skill level. I currently use soft baits like Zoom worms and craws.
Great videos. Keep up the great work
Thanks Tyler!
Really informative. I started with my just in boxes, then switched to bags. That was due to fishing from the shore. I finally got a boat and I will definitely be switching back. Are those 4 or 5 inch Pitt Bosses? Thanks!
4" Pit Bosses. Thanks James!!
James Loh
I see that you use the waterproof Plano boxes for your plastics. Would you recommend these for the Rapala Dive To Series? Are they deep enough for ALL the series? I have all of them and recently purchased a new tackle bag and it came with cheap boxes.
Good video. Thinking of storing some of my z man plastics in Plano box. But read their disclaimer against it do to ela z plastic technology. Guess I’ll keep them in the bag but wish there was a better way to store them.
Nice video. Some good tips for storage.
Thank you!
Before they were famous. Bass pro shop edition!!!
Great video, too bad I did the zip lock thing this year....lol I have a question on line conditioner, I mostly use braid, but have a few flouro reel set ups. How do you put the line conditioner on and how often?
Thanks Mark. KVD Line and Lure is the best conditioner that I've used. Works best if you let it dry on your line. Either the night before I plan to fish or on my way to the lake I spray my line so it has a chance to dry. Only takes a few squirts, just rotate the spool till you covered it all. You will know when its time to reapply, but I normally only spray it the one time each trip.
Keep em Bagged. Thanks though TJ, im just watching older videos ;)
I've been on the fence with doin this. I would prefer them in the Plano boxes but when you have 40 or more different types of baits the boxes would just take up so much room. Obviously u have a ton of tackle so I'm not sure how your gonna box that much plastic either. Post a video once your done so we can see how u make out which will help me decide also. Great videos man and thanks.
Will do bud! Thanks for watching!
Sweet video man! I was curious what boxes you suggest for terminal tackle? I seem to have problems with regular plano boxes and hooks sliding around into different sections. Thanks!
Thank you! Bass Mafia Coffin for terminal tackle. I plan to do a video on my terminal tackle box next week.
This is exactly why I'm a saltwater fisherman here on the west cost...live anchovies, live sardines or live squid fished either fly lined or dropper loop.....and my irons/jigs, i keep those organized in a single free amazon shipping cardboard box, works best for me 😎
got that straight, it's a fetish thing for these guys.
Another good video Jim.
Thank you!
Great tips and info on how to store worms
Thanks bro!
that was pretty good collection very impressed do you fish for a living or do you work somewhere else
I wash trucks for a living.
What size hook would you rig the Gambler Why Not’s with? I just purchased some and want to rig them right.
Really good vid, Bro !! But I live in southern GA and it gets pretty hot here in the summer. I was was fishing a couple weeks ago and was using soft plastics (Z-man, Gamagatsu, etc. ) on my jonboat. I covered the baits with a couple towels, but by the end of the 4 hour trip alot of them had melted together or warped....Any suggestions on how to avoid this ?
Thanks Rob. To be honest I really don't use Z-man because of all the issues with that type of plastic.
rob jones maybe a small lunch cooler for the Z - Man
Take a shot Everytime he says bag 😂
nice video man. this made me subscribe keep up the good work I hope to grow my tackle and channel like that too.
Thanks bud! I appreciate the sub!
What affect does it have on the scented soft plastic baits , like the Berkley Max scent worms?
i store my soft plastics the same way every year i use scents to keep em from going bad or drying out it keeps them moist and I have all mine labeled as well
Good deal!
Just curious, how much do you have invested in tackle, rods, reels etc?
I use a cloth container that has sort of laminated pages with a zip bloc, it's made for soft plastics
It's made by spider wire if anyone was interested
Great Video!
Do you keep the soft plastics that are in the boxes in a climate control area. I like the box usage but in FL i worry about melting of lures. in original package i have not had any but had a box that had some old soft lures melt.
I say start off bagging but once u get past like 30 bags of soft plastics u should probably go ahead and start boxing up, I found some good waterproof ammo plastic boxes that I’ve been storing bags of soft plastics in. Works really good for Berkeley stink bait stuff!
You know that missile baits scents used to be called "Missile Juice"
Will you organize my craft room? Lol
Do they dry out at all? Do you need to add oil to them?
I don't keep enough soft plastics on hand to worry about either boxing or bagging. *I carry only enough for two or three fishing trips, buying what's needed after that.* Also allows me to experiment with new stuff without having a lot of old stuff sitting around to rot. Soft baits (PowerBaits, etc - and not many of those) remain in their original packaging.
Great video, was wondering what type of soft plastic worms do you have in the first box?
Plasma Tails
Do you keep stick baits in the bags or do you prefer to box them?...senkos, Ochoa...
I've done both.
Why doesn't Plano do a worm box? That box with worms is good but there are four ends with nothing in so just dead space
i have my pit bosses in box and it aint warping at all. do you think maybe its the scent you put on the bait? also what scent are you using for them? thank you for the video by the way. this video is the reason why im a better organized fisherman!
It could be the type of box, but I doubt the scent. I use a mixture of different scents together. Thanks for watching Ricky!
What number for the water proof Plano! Also good video!
I'm in the process of making this switch. I've been the type to throw all my soft plastics in zip locks, organized by type. Craws, Worms, Creatures, Swimbaits, Stickbaits, etc. I always wondered how the soft plastics would hold up in plano boxes. Especially some of the rage stuff. Will they lose their coffee scent faster outside of the bags and in a plano box? Will they stiffen up or dry out? Just questions I've had. I'm worried about some of my more soft/wet plastics that come scented for sure.
It just seems like a much better system, and reduces space by loading them all up in boxes instead of lugging around multiple large ziplocks crammed full of individual bags.
I've had plastics in boxes for a few years and have never had any issues with them losing their scent or drying out. I haven't put the Rage baits in boxes yet, but I plan too. Baits like you mentioned that come wet, I definitely box all of those as the bags become a huge mess.
i awesome video , will the boxes work for strike kings soft plastic with the coffee scent , that are not in clam shells? the reason i why i ask is because i use alot strike king product but the problem i have is there limit space on kayak and in the crate ,thank you TackleJunky81
I've put them in boxes before with no issues. SK is a softer soft plastic so I did get some warping with the dividers, but like I said in this video that doesn't bother me.
ok thank you TackleJunky81
Good video Jim.
Thanks Drew!
What boxes do you use for your soft plastics can you post a link? Awesome idea!
Just the Plano 3700 water proof boxes with the red seal. Get whatever size you need. The 3600 has a blue seal and the smaller ones have a yellow seal.
If i where to be a robber, i would rob your house, All that fishing stuff, Stay safe man great video!
Do you leave your soft swimbaits (Keitech, Exoswim, etc.) in their original packaging or move them to a box? I know that they can lose their shape when stored bunches up, but I hate how much space the clamshell packaging consumes. I’m currently using the 3700 deep boxes from Plano, but they don’t hold enough and it seems like a waste of space. Thanks! I watch all the videos, so keep them coming!
pprice01 I have in the past with zero issues, but I use the shallow and keep it stocked so they stay in place.
TackleJunky81 ok, thank you! I will be moving mine to the shallow 3700 boxes, packed tightly, and see what happens. I live in the desert so it gets pretty hot here. Hopefully they will hold their shape.
good video , great tips👍
Thank you!
I know this is an older video of yours but very helpful
Kent Bove Thank you!
Hey, I was just curious to know if your soft plastics melt in those boxes since they are out of their packaging?
I've never had that issue.
You should never have that issue in a "worm proof" box.
Nice organization but toooo much money man , at least for me.
so do you remember putting the wet and cented soft plastics in a water tight plano box thanks for the vids and tight lines
Baits that come wet in the package I normally box right away as they leak.
I like the video. I did that with some of my plastics as well
Thanks Hank!
what is the size and model of the box you have your pitboss's in. looking to convert over to some of the shallow boxes and waterproof ones
Plano 3740
I keep telling myself buy lures when you lose some. I just end up buying more and my room looks like a tackle shop same as yours lmao
I've ditched the boxes except for terminal tackle and hard baits and I have started using 2 gallon freezer bags and keeping them in their original packaging, and as well as KVD black bags. They just cost too much nowadays to waste them. IMO
👊💪
I like your videos, very cool.
Thanks Ron!
