Effortless singing and so much of dedication from the team. Kavingar wrote this song for the movie Mahadevi but apparently MGR was not in favour and instead the song Kanmoodum Velaiyilum took its place. So, Kavingar introduced this beautiful song in his own production Maaliyitta Mangai. Even music maestro G Ramanathan had apprehension that MSV had asked TRM to sing this song but later congratulated MSV for a fine rendition.

I heard Vidwan Sri G S Mani relate in an interview about this composition. While on the topic of balancing the pitch of TR Mahalingam and AP Komala, Sri G S Mani reminded MSV of the concept of Graha Bhedam. Apparently, MSV folded his Dhoti and paced up and down for a minute or so. then he sat down and placed his hands on the harmonium. And out came the tune!!
I too watched that programme. It is a great pleasure to listen his interviews.

This is a Top Class Stuff! Among so many lovely songs presented nicely by the QFR Team so far over the last 1-1/2 years, this Particular Song will Easily Pass the Test by Distinction scoring 100/100 in all respects, the singing as well as the Orchestration, even if it's critically evaluated by "N" Number of Subbudu's. Such an immaculate degree of Perfection to the core by Each & Everyone. Full Marks to Nisha, Girijashankar, VeeNaa Anjani, Flute Selva, Tabla Venkat and Programmer Shyam Benjamin. Everyone of them Travelled Together hand-in-hand joyously and unhurriedly savouring KaNNadasan's Lovely lyrical conversation and Viswanathan-Ramamoorthy's Musical Excellence and imbibing completely TR Mahalingam's and AP KoamaLaa's Expressive Singing in their subconscious mind. Nisha's & Girijashankar's enviable tonal range and effortless, inherent Gamakams just replicated the Original Version like a Xerox without even a minute smudge. Same was our experience when we heard the parallel instrument play by Anjani & Selva and Venkat throughout the song - that's brilliantly capped by Shyam Benjamin. There could be nothing more complex in this earth than the grammars and calculations defined by our ancestors for each Raaga in the genre of Carnatic Music. Yes, when a learned Rasikaa Or a Lay Rasikaa hears an AAbogi he willl Not Miss out to smell the scent of a SriRanjani OR a Valaji, howsoever perfectly and orthodoxly a composition might have been tuned in by any great composer. That's the Beauty as well as the Complication / Challenge posed by our Carnatic Music - Both for the Singers & for the Musicians @ the one end and for the Listeners & for the Music Enthusiasts @ the other end. But, Not getting fully trapped into those complexities, but just keep on enjoying the mellifluous melody generated by this Divine Genre of Music is what ultimately makes us all relish that tasty Music Food with optimum pleasure seamlessly and forces us to yearn for more & more! Congrats to Each & Everyone of the QFR Team for one more Great Presentation of one more Olden Goldy!
